Drooling....

If you got a 4th you'd have the only WHXGA on the planet thats actually practical. Damn though, 66 benjamins for that setup.... we need action shots!

For almost an hour I had 4, and then DHL came to pick it up since it was an RMA.

I just read your signature spec machine. Either you treat your wife or girlfriend very generously by showering her with gifts or you're a loner. No one can love computers that much and still keep a girl.

I'm curious how you power those monitors. Are they all rigged to one machine?

I'm sure there are a lot of people on the forums that can do that :) It isn't that hard.

The girlfriend is taken care of. I have to send back one of the 3 within the next 10 days which will leave me with my 2 and I've had the 4 on my main box to just see but I don't have enough desk space. They're on 2 different boxes now, the other is an X2 4800 box with dual 6800 Ultra's (soon to be 7800 GTX's when my 7900's come in.)

ahh. $5+ per day in coffee for one person seemed extreme to me, that explains it.

a guy I work with spends 9 dollars a day on coffee from dunkin donuts. no joke.

Keep in mind how difficult it is to get a shot like this, the aperature is open wide and the video is in motion so you get the blurr, the picture was toally sharp the blurr you see is do to the no light delay aperature affect , anyhow the color reproduction to me is outstanding for this monitor , movies look specatacular using pure video. I just wish pure video was more stable, I am getting issues with it and how it behaves with my sound card, maybe it is becuase its a trial version? No issue while playing but i get a reboot and sytem error when attemping to start the movie, then the next time its fine.

For those who don't have SLI setups and/or fancy new video cards, how does games look using half-resolution (1280 x 800)? In theory, using half-resolution you don't get any interpolation, but I'm curious to know some opinions... Thanks guys.

thx jacuz =). awesome.

the only bit of gripe i have about these super-duper high-res is the resolution. yeah i know it's not for movie-watching that's why the resolution is 25x16 and not 19x10 or 25x10. i'd love a high-res display that is MADE for movielovers BUT minoring in computing. i see a 30" display with a 2538x1080. why? 2.35:1 scope. that would be SWEET!

I was going through my camera's memory card and found this picture that I had forgot about. I took this as I was setting up my LCDs. Everything is in its general position, but I hadn't hooked up my 2 2001FPs yet. The 2001FPs in "pageview" are the exact same hight as the 3007, they just aren't lined up yet in the pic. Sadly, I have to sell the 2001FPs to help pay for the 3007. It is nice while I have it though.

Yes, that is a picture of itself.

LOL. We have the same desk and same monitor.

I posted a couple 1280 by 800 shot early in the thread if memory serves me.

Games look good , in fact the monitor does a real good job with games at any res. Non gaming use is a different story. Native Res all the way for all other uses

I got mine today. You really have to see it in person to realize how big this LCD is. No backlight bleeding, no dead pixels - it looks good so far. :D

LCD on the right is 20" 1600*1200

Nice jacuzz1, thanks. I saw your shots. My main concern is the interpolation, but so far it seems that most people don't have any problem running half-res.

Thanks :)

I'll go one further. You and I have the same desk, monitor, and UPS

Great stuff, I also have that UPS. You just can't see it in the picture.

BTW, Steve also has the same desk

Hey, brom42, does that put strain on your neck having to crane up? It doesn't look very ergonomic.

Also, are there any significance to those issues of PC mags you've chosen to frame?

That is a picture of Steve's desk. You can ask him: [email protected]

If I remember correctly, those are important because he has articles in them.

this is what my excel looks like on the dell 2405 while the windows font size is set to largest. jacuzz1, if you adjust the font size in your windows theme to the largest, do you think excel could look not as overwhelming?

dude , it must have been the meds i was on at the time. I was taking a walk down memory lane going through the thread and realized what you wanted. I will do it tonight if you still want me too lol

hey guys, I just got mine today and it rocks! But one thing bugs me is that if I pass the 1280x800 the image is biger than screen so I have a "scroll" around my desktop. Any idea why?

How do these ebay sellers get new dell products to sell at lower prices? Are they resellers or corporate buyers? From what I read, when you buy from them you get the same warranty, as if you bought directly from Dell. Does anyone have experience with ebay purchases and warranty issues with Dell?

There's a dell web page where you bang in details details provided by your supplier (purchase order number etc) and you details and have the warranty transfere, it's very straight forward. Here's the page for those residing outside the US (not sure what the US URL is, but it shouldnt be hard to find):

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/reftopic.aspx/pub/ccare/transfer_intl?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Oh, and the eBay sellers will be buying them from a Dell salesman in bulk for a hefty discount.

I have a dell contact that can give you a $1599 price plus tax for the 3007. I got mine with the 3 year complete care warranty for $1599 plus tax with 2 day shipping.

If you want the contact's email just pm me or send me an email.

Please do not post his email address if i give it to you but you can pass it on by pm to other people.

The person works through Wipro. If you don't know the Dell / Wipro connection just ask around. Dell outsources to Wipro. The order is through dell.

I get no benefit from passing on his info other than making sure he does well so he can get us good deals.

Mine came on this Tursday but had one bad pixel and a backlight bleed on one area. I arranged an exchange and got the new one today shipped by overnight shipping. This one looks good.

I'll be happy to take anyones old 2405/2005's off them. <_< Sure as hell won't need them with that big ass thing.

Yeah. You know you want to. ^_^

Gaming at 1280x800 is no problem at all. But it looks kind of strange, blocky.
I prefer gaming at 1680 or 1920.

Here is a close up, you can see "pixel blocks":

Can some one with this monitor fulfill a request of mine. I'm curious how widgets look on that real estate. Particularly if you're running the weather widget from Yahoo!'s Konfabulator wdiget program. I just want to get a better sense of how large all these are. And please take an external shot as well as a screen cap of it so I can compare it.

Thanks

Thanks, Caboose. I was wondering where the widget was with all the icons.

BTW, where's the money shot? Can you do something like this?

Thanks for the cap.

BTW2: It's interesting to see you read a lot of tech papers. A well informed man is a smart man, or something. :D

Yes, my desk is battered. Yes, it needs replacing chronically. Yes, I will buy I new desk. Probably.

anyone? would love to see how the 3007 does on the pixperan scrolling text test compared to the viewsonic Im using now...

I can pass the test up to around level 9 or 10. But to be honest, that test strikes me as being rather crap. Not sure was oging on, but if you shake your head rapidly, the text bcmes intermittenly sharp - I think there's something other than pixel response mking the text blurry personally, something to do with the way it's drawn and the refresh rate.

Thanks Mr. Moose

http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/pixperan.html

I am looking for the PixPerAn Scrolling Text Test. Use the PixPerAn utility from the link above, its free. Its pretty interesting, basically a CRT can scroll text across its screen at a speed of 23 and still have the text string be readable...LCD's are less than that...for example my viewsonic 2130b scores an 11. As long as the 3007 is an 11 or better I can buy it and know I can handle its level of pixel refresh response time.

Basically the test scrolls text across your screen, you pick a speed to start at, say 11. If you can enter the text string correctly (in other words, read it) you pick a higher speed until you cant read the string of text anymore. It is a little subjective but not much.

Thanks.

EDIT: hmm, ok, thanks for running it. Yeah, its a different kind of test, and there may be something else going on, but I used it on my LCD and my CRT (have them on two different boxes right next to each other) and I found it interesting.

Yeah, it might be that the higher refresh rate of the CRT is helping. Try running the CRT at 60hz and if it's still readable at the same level I may be willing to concede it's a fair test ;)

Just to be clear, if I buy those underwear like that guy on the far right of that wallpaper, would I get abs like that?
