Again....that is great. However it is in my experience that it is far from the norm.
You seem to be in an area, and have surrounded yourself with a set of peers, that is above the norm and of high calibar. Sincerly, kudos to you.
Oh and btw...when I say "bust through their defenses" I just...
Again...I was not trying to be an ass...just pointing out the average "hypocrisy" that most network admins/security people seem to have (myself included at times) that was all.
XOR != OR...you are one of the FEW I have ever met that actually places those same restrictions on themselves, and I...
First of all, just to be clear, so long as no fraud or malfeasance is taking place, bypassing the security of an organization to get to Gmail, read Slashdot, or post on Hardforums, is NOT a crime. It is a breach of contract perhaps, a violation of Acceptable Use Policies for sure, and can get...
LOL...it is funny to see how scared people are of "supposed" lawsuits/legal action nowadays.
It is cool they you have a "no circumnavigating" rule but at least be honest about it...fear of legal action is miniscule...NO ONE has ever been charged with ever giving technical advice on how to do...
Yeah...see one thing I do NOT do is ANY kind of online gaming...period.
When I do play I like playing solo games...and I rarely have friends over to play...so multiple controllers/gamers on the console mean very little as well.
I guess I will just order the new ATI AIW card and be done...
Thanks for the insights and thoughts and the civility.
I guess I was just trying to come to grips with the fact that the modern consoles will have graphics on par with my PC at least as it stands (plus it would be hooked to my 52" HDTV).
Also if the 360 will have things like Elder Scrolls...
I am 36 years old and have been a PC gamer since the days of the Commodore VIC-20.
I LOVE PC games....and generally have not been a big fan of console systems.
However....I am currently looking at dropping another $350+ in a new graphics card and more memory just to get the PC to keep up...
Thanks for the thoughts everyone.
I realize that PCI-E is the new way...but my MB/Proc is just fine for now and I am not going to spend money to just get PCI-E for now...maybe in another 2 years.
I currently have a 9600XT.
It just does not cut the mustard anymore.
I have had NVidia and ATI, no real preference, either will do.
I am running on an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe with AGP and am going to stick with that (in other words I am not upgrading the mobo for PCI-E).
I have been out...
I am looking at upgrading the wifes system.
She currently has a PIII - 667mhz system with 384MB of RAM.
I would like to get her something a bit faster and be able to use the 512mb of DDR266 (PC2100) RAM I have laying around.
Also, she is not a gamer or anything like that so flat out...
Just to chime in...it also depends on WHAT you do.
If you are "pure IT" then perhaps it is overkill when talking to other techies.
However if you work in a client interaction position where they PAY to see those certs in your name then they go in there.
As a Consultant I do list my...
Ok...so for those of us that hate, hate, hate...and did I mention HATE wires.
What wireless headsets out there are "decent"?
I ask this here because there ARE audiophiles in this forum...and I am not one. See that is the whole thing...I am NOT an audiophile....and could care less about the...
My wife and I share a "computer room" (the study actually).
Whenever we are in their together we each put on headphones...her because she LOVES music and likes to sing along with it. Me because I LOVE playing games, and loudly, hehehehe.
Anyways I *am* using a pair of so-so cans...and I...
