• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

How to get internet/RDP to test VMs and avoid touching production network

You would want to create a router/firewall VM with 2 NICs - one of them should be on the vswitch that has WAN access and one on the vswitch that has your Lab VMs. Your WAN on this gateway/firewall VM would probably be DHCP and then set the default route in your VMs or do DHCP.

FreeNAS 8 NAS and SAN Advice

I have a budget of $1500 total, I'm really only looking for good performance for the volume that I export via iSCSI as this will be for VMDKs. What do you suggest that fits that ball park in terms of budget?

FreeNAS 8 NAS and SAN Advice

[H]orde, I'm spec'ing out a new NAS/SAN server for use with my production network and VMware Lab. I've pretty much settled on platform but I haven't been able to get straight answers for a few questions I have. The plan so far is to get a dual-core Ivy Bridge and 16GB of RAM with a board...

    RAGE

Had a dumb issue today that made me rage. Windows Server 2008 R2 in DMZ hosting IIS, the box was running DNS, I removed that role and restarted the machine remotely. Machine never went down and now I can't login to in, it throws a "not enough storage available to perform this command". Tried to...

cENTOS 5.5 64-Bit fails to boot on default xenserver 5.6 fp1 install

Posted this on the citrix forums, maybe I can get some help from the [H]orde instead. I'm having a hard time to get linux guests to run under my default install of xenserver 5.6 fp1. I can get windows guests to run with no problem but when I create a EL-based VM and try to boot, I get the...

Dlink DIR-655 can't port forward or use DMZ

I had some weird problems with my DLink before I switched to DD-WRT, it would forget the admin password if I changed it and I had to reset to defaults, I fixed it by reflashing the firmware even though there was no update. I would suggest upgrading the firmware on the device and if there are no...

I'm looking at building a small lab for school and for getting some more experience with enterprise technologies, I'm going to be isolating this from my home network that I share with my roommates via a UTM box that I'm building but I need to find a 10/100/1000 switch to use for...

    Can I pass the Network+?

Post kinda related. I'm attempting to get the Security+ before the deadline and just bought a kindle version of a study guide. I think you can very easily pass any of the comptia exams as they really are entry-level if you read a book and memorize the concepts and ideas and not just facts.

    MSE V2 on Server 2008r2?

This depends on the services that the server is hosting. You'll probably want to use the excluded files processes and excluded files & locations to fine tune the performance on the boxes. At work we have a bunch of exclusions for servers depending on their role, excluding some application...
