I've just run into a new problem on my ever problematic rig
It just froze. one moment i was exporting some video from premiere, listening to some music and the next it was frozen. No mouse response. no Ctrl,Alt,Del, no sound. nothing.
Reboot button wasn't responding either, so i used...
Antec 900, i have that case. its pretty damn breezy.
I also have a 8800GTX, a qx6700 and 4 hdd's running in there, and case temps are fine.
also isn't speed fan supposed to give bogus temps? my experience with it wasn't great at least. I use everest, i think they have a trial on their site.
so you're saying i should up my fsb to 400 and lower my multiplier to compensate?
well i just stepped up my FSB to 333 and turned the mult down to 8 and the system failed to POST.
not really sure how i can get a 1:1 ratio when i can't up the fsb..but then i'm a big oc noob, any advice?
if i type in 400 for the fsb i get this readout in the bios:
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [AUTO]
Memory Frequency(Mhz) 800 1200
if i set the FSB back to 266, the 1200 reads 800.
what does this number mean? seems high whatever it is..
to see my ram specs go to...
ok so i'm trying to get my head around Overclocking in general, i think i "get" it now but i just want to double check.
here is my setup:
qx6700
Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6
Ultra 120 extreme
8gb ddr2 800
8800GTX
so far i've just pushed up the multiplier to 12 with the FSB at 266 giving me...
I ask cause i think i have a problem..i'm installing rivatuner and the database builder has been building for AGES at least 15-20 minutes and its STILL not done (on a qx6700 @ 3.2ghz), it says on the thing that it will take "several minutes". Also in the task manager the installer isn't using...
oooOOOoooh well dont i feel like a dumbass lol :p
you're right i hadn't bothered to check and just assumed it was quad d'oh
well that would explain the temp differences, and would make them about right in fact.
yeah i do have a 8800GTX, i'll get riva tuner onto it ;)
be interesting to see what...
I just installed my Ultra 120 extreme and its pretty awesome :D
But i want to get an idea of what sort of temps other people are getting with it (on quad core systems..qx6700 to be precise)
Cause i read in this article that on an 6800 they get idle temps of 26c and loads of 32. If these are...
I've set up my port forwarding, and it was working, and now today in utorrent i didnt get the "all clear" for my port and when i checked to see if it was open, the site said it got an error.
I then checked it out on canyouseeme.org and i got this
Error: I could not see your service on...
thanks sram! i'm convinced lol :p
one other thing, it looks pretty tight, was it hard to get to the screws that bolt it down when you were installing it?
either way, i'm sold :D
well the only reason i was thinking of the cooljag fan is that it has a massive CFM and i've been told that this will further increase cooling. Also its PWM which is a must, which would help with the noise?
Assuming the cpu isn't on load all the time the fan wouldn't need to spin at full speed...
awesome news! I'd decided i couldn't get an ultra 120 extreme (that name cracks me up lol) based on the info given by thermalright.
based on this new info i will definitely be getting one!
and with this fan i think, seems to be one of the highest airflows you can get with PWM as well..
this...
phew, thats good to hear ;)
Its multiplier is set to x11 (from x10) which makes it run at something like 2.9933MHz
Thats with the stock hsf.
when i get my new heatsink i'll be aiming to push it as far as it can go. but yeah the cpu rocks, took me a while to get used to multitasking though...
