I've just run into a new problem on my ever problematic rig
It just froze. one moment i was exporting some video from premiere, listening to some music and the next it was frozen. No mouse response. no Ctrl,Alt,Del, no sound. nothing.
Reboot button wasn't responding either, so i used the off switch held down for a few secs. rebooted, removed the slight overclock i have. opened up premiere, opened up the musid, opened everest to monitor temps (which seemed fine, 50-62~, as its a really hot day here 28C), and cpuz. hit render and bam, frozen.
so i restarted, did a windows memory diagnostic and after a little while it seemed to freeze too...not %100 sure but it wasn't responding to any of the key presses that exit it etc.
booted mem test and after a little bit same thing happened, it just seemed to stop and hitting c to bring up options didn't work.
But the PC seems to work fine the rest of the time..like right now, just typing this in firefox, but i bet if i opened up premiere and rendered it would lock up again...
what could be causing this? is seems like its a ram issue but i've never seen anything like it before.
qx6700
gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6
8800GTX
6GBg DDR2 800 G.skill ram
[its 6GB because if i slot in the last stick to make it 8 then the PC runs really slowly and does strange things like take hours to install small apps etc, i would NEVER get G.skill again]
Also i have rendered stuff in premiere before and not had this happen.
does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT*
well i went into BIOS and lowers the mhz of the ram..i think, i'm pretty new to all this, but where it said 800 it now says 667 (or something close to that) and in everest it doesnt show the mem bus as 400 but as 333 now.
so far i've had no freezes...yet
also after my post when i took the side of my pc and took out one of the ram sticks they were burning hot, not excruciating to touch but very hot. and the system had been off for a little bit by then too.
