Help, high PC temps!

My PC temperatures are way too high. I am not overclocking, and all temps were taken after computer had idled for about an hour.

I just put in a new Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB and it is running extremely hot.

Computer is out in the open, and well ventilated as far as I can tell. Here is the case I am using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144102

My specs are:

Windows Vista Ultimate x86
AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+
2x 1 GB Corsair XMS2 RAM
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Power Supply

When I play Bioshock, or any other graphically intense game, I get a blue screen crash after 2-5 minuets of playing. I am assuming this has to do with my temps being too high.

I have 3 fans in the case. One blows into the case from the top. One blows into the case from the left side, towards the bottom. The third fan is in the back and it is blowing hot air outside the case.

I have experimented with these fans, moving them around, and I seem to get the same results no matter what. The bottom of my case is a lot hotter than the top. I can feel the temp difference with my hand as I get closer to the graphics card. It is definitely putting off some serious heat. Right now I have a fan blowing directly on the graphics card and it does not seem to be helping.

I have no Idea what to do, and I could use some expert advice. I'm willing to buy a new case if thats part of the problem.

Antec 900, i have that case. its pretty damn breezy.
I also have a 8800GTX, a qx6700 and 4 hdd's running in there, and case temps are fine.
also isn't speed fan supposed to give bogus temps? my experience with it wasn't great at least. I use everest, i think they have a trial on their site.
 
It definatly shouldn't be running that hot.

Keeping that in mind, you really have some of the hottest components around

6400+ -- highest end SKU, too hot for the stock HS/F.
8800s -- neutoriously hot and power consuming!
750W "silencer" -- doubles as a leaf blower this unit gets so hot!
Nforce 590 -- Touch that passive northbridge cooler and leave burn grill-shaped marks on your fingers!

What I suggest you do is get every fan mount on that case filled, pick up one of these, an excellent budget aftermarket cooler.

Get a north bridge cooler. One of the ones from Thermalright would be your best bet imo, but your goign to have to do this yourself. Make sure its active (with fan).

You definatly have a killer system there but unfortunatly its probibly going to be loud. If your looking for silence I suggest you get a CPU cooler that has a 120mm fan on it. Also the antec 900 as a case suggestion would help, but thats some serious bucks.

in heinsight, your probibly running the hottest system I've ever seen. If you've ever thought about it, getting a liquid cooling system might be a very reasonable suggestion.
 
Ok, I've got 2 fans blowing air in the case near the GPU, one of which is blowing directly on the GPU. I also have an exhaust fan on the other side of the case taking the warm air out. The GPU is now idling around 70 C, and getting into the upper 80's while playing Bioshock. Although I can't get bioshock to run any longer than 5-10 minutes at this point. So I"m sure the GPU will get hotter than that.

I think it is the core temps thats shutting down the system when they get too hot. I've invested in 2 more 120mm fans, one more for intake, and one more exhaust fan. And I bought a Zalman heatsink/fan. I'm hoping that will keep the CPU temps down.

As for ambient temp, I really don't know what to do about that. It's still going to be pretty high. I could always return my power supply. The only reason I got that one was for SLI mode later on down the line, but I will obviously not be able to run 2 8800's with the temp's I'm getting. So what kind of power supply should I exchange it for?
