I was wondering if someone could tell me why the IT Horror Story thread located here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1006900 is locked?

Audigy 2 ZS Prevents PC Booting

Hey I had problems with my Audigy 2 ZS and my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. It was fixed by updating the BIOS, and fully updating the ZS drivers (starting from a clean install of Windows XP Pro Corp).

So were installing some new monitors in our server room. My boss is talking to me, and lifts the monitor from a prominent manufacturer out of the box, but he's holding it through the plastic bag that protects the screen. As soon as he gets the monitor all the way out of the box and kicks the...

    ASUS & Audigy Problem

So I go my new parts today, installed them to find that the my ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe has problems with my Audigy 2 ZS; it can't start the GamePort or the primary WDM Audio processor. Needless to say there was a lot of swearing over this. Is anyone else having this problem or have you heard of...

Processor usage spikes? Is this normal? ^_-

Well, Task Manger doesn't actually show you all the processes being run, some processes can run with a switch that makes them hidden. I forget at the moment how to view them, if I get a chance I'll post again with how, otherwise it's up to you and google or another [H]er.

    case with least noise stock?

Well if you want to reduce noise, get a steel case and sound absorbing mats to afix to the case panels. Aluminum cases tend to be a little nosier than steel because they are thinner and lighter, and thus more susceptible to vibration. You can buy some mats from FrozenCPU here or you can...

So here's my DHL deal; I ordered a Yeong Yang cube case, and the option was only DHL. So , my case is signature required, and expected to arrive on a Friday. I have no plans so I wait around the house to accept my package. 11:00am I go past my front door and there's my package, just waiting on...

    IT Horror Stories

The most recent I have is at my part-time job. I work as a Network Technician for a demilitarization company. While I was away on Christmas break, one of the company’s servers went down. My boss (who’s pretty tech savvy) started trouble shooting the problem with Dell, the last step they had him...

    IT Horror Stories

So given that I just ordered a little over 900.00 in parts, I got to thinking about past bad experiences with not only shipping, but parts, manufactures, etc… I figured I’d post a section in the forums to see who’s got some good IT battle scars. Here’s my favorite: At my very first IT job...

    Is UPS really necessary?

A good UPS isn't that expensive, and can be picked up at placed like BestBuy and CompUSA. I have one in place on my mother's computer because she runs a home based business and a power spike or sudden loss could cause a great deal of damage. I myself don't currently do any critical work on my...

    New AMD x2 System. Suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you, but I would advise against the 3800+ X2 processor. In terms of dollars:performance it doesn’t match up in the large majority of benchmarks. For roughly the same price (12.00 more) you can get an AMD 64 4000+; or for a bit more money upgrade to a 4200+ (400.00 total)...

    gaming problem

Another question for you then, do you have Error Reporting turned off for programs? If it is, that would explian why it just quits to the desktop without saying anything. My Computer: Properties: Advanced: Error Reporting (bottom).
