Well ive been a little confused as of late... processor temperatures have increased a few degrees at idle, and i was watchign core centre, every 6 seconds, the read changes by 4 degrees, up then down then up then down... i decided to look at the processes window since it was so regular and well, theres a lovely little sine wave style curve :) Is this normal? ive been looking at processes and i cant see anything going up or down :S (this is at idle...)

Thanks :)

Look under processes tab. You can see if there are any programs using that cpu at the time and you'll have a better idea of what's causing it.

Yeah man that's not normal. Check the processes tab as suggested to see if you can figure out what is using cpu cycles like that. Sounds like some sort of malware to me.

already checked processes tab, checks out normal.

Ill run a quick malware scan i guess... Shouldnt have much/any though... im careful, dont visit much anyway.. and i use firefox :p

Yeah, hijack this is a great tool for looking at your running processes; I suggest you start with that tool first.

just ran it. deleted what i knew i didnt want )some adobe stuff, zonealarm stuff that shouldnt be there (i have it disabled on start up...)

And while im here, why is my PF usage so damn high... i have 512MB of ram, NOTHING running, and the commit charge is only 508368? is it not using my rma or something? ^_-

Well, Task Manger doesn't actually show you all the processes being run, some processes can run with a switch that makes them hidden. I forget at the moment how to view them, if I get a chance I'll post again with how, otherwise it's up to you and google or another [H]er.

You have some process running that wakes up the CPU every 6 seconds. As mentioned above, look at the Processes tab and under View choose Select columns then check the CPU box, and then sort on CPU usage.

On my system the problem was Microsoft Anti-Spyware... about every 5-6 seconds.
