wag, i don't think you'll hear a difference, because your speakers are going to be the limiting factor in the equation, not the dac...
but i'd try it anyway... never hurts to experiment... :)
i got my wife an ipod mini for christmas last year, and it was definite winner... :)
side note: and she's about as techie as they come, male or female, but there's more to things like this than battery life... ;)
