Just wondering what you guys think is the best way to hook these bad boy's up (A-500's). Receiver is an Onkyo 601 and sound card is an HDA Mystique.

are you asking because you've tried it both ways and can't tell the difference?

I'd say the receiver if you were a true audiophile. If not, then it doesn't really matter.

If you want to make use of the DDL, then you'll need to run an optical cable between the sound card and the reciever. That way, there is a digital signal and Dolby Digital Live is possible.

That's for the hookup between the sound card and the receiver.

I'm just basically looking to see if other people have had experiences one way or the other. I'm a traditionalist, so I was going to hook it up through the receiver. But it never hurts to ask.
