Battlefield 6

Been playing Golmud in Conquest and Rush modes since release and its a waaaay better map than I first thought and whoever designed Golmud deserves a f'ing raise!! There are great areas of the map for infantry and/or vehicle combat with plenty of ways to get from one capture point to another. I'm still exploring parts of the map and that is fun af too. My only issue is that Golmud raises the bar significantly and puts the previous maps to shame but I'm hoping the upcoming maps will be equal in fun, especially Wake Island with its naval combat!

Not a fan of Grand Bazaar, was a small Conquest map in BF3. Is it bigger in BF6? The TDM mode is too spread out. Unless the Conquest version is much bigger with many more vehicles it will be a bad Conquest map and infantry only map, IMO.

Seems larger than BF3's Bazaar, less confined too

It feels very similar in conquest in BF 6 as I remember it from BF 3. Long time since I played the BF 3 version, but it there seems to be only some minor adjustments. E.g. bit more cover and camper spots etc. but general gameplay feel is pretty close. Was never a huge fan of it in BF 3, just played it every now and then. If you didn't like it in BF 3, then I would be surprised if you like it in BF 6.

We need some more maps like Golmud, with lots of vehicles. That is still a weak point of BF6. Not sure why they remade this, instead of Kharg Island or Bandar Desert. I'd really like to see Bandar remade.

IFV gets some nice improvements... tanks APFSD gets a minor nerf which it really did not need. Vehicle gameplay is still a bit weak. Most of the time fights end with the drivers jumping out and using RPGs on each other. Tank vs tank fights rarely end in them killing each other, more so for IFVs. They can drive around a corner and repair quickly. I know this was needed to counter over powered infantry but it just is bad for gameplay. I like that the IFV and the HE for tanks is getting a bit better to counter infantry though.

The quick repair is nice except when you're the one being attacked by a tank, lol. Frankly I've been back to going Recon and using JEEP STUFF to instantly blow up tanks and IFVs.

Armor piercing MBT rounds will kill a tank fast. It takes 3 shots with speed reloader if they have 1 engineer repairing, 4 shots if they have 2 engineers repairing. Long drawn out tank fights is more when in areas with a lot of cover or when people don't know how to switch ammo.

The big deal is the weapon adjustments and limb multipliers. Should help a bit with making the gameplay a bit more skilled. A bit less laser beam and a bit more burst fire driven. Not going to make a massive change for those who already know how to mitigate recoil, but people who spray wildly will probably struggle a bit at medium and long ranges. Less random recoil, but similar or more total recoil for the higher damage weapons, which should increase the skill gap quite a bit.

I like the increase in head shot damage, don't like the decrease elsewhere.

Also lol the conquest version is absolutely fucking massive and the breakthrough version is tiny as hell

Really enjoying the new map actually, it can be a bit slow at times but it feels like there is more impact to the things you do. More reason to find a neat spot to fire from as it won't be overrun by a horde of people immediately, you can put in good work by holding parts of the map. I was worried it would approach walking simulator like ARMA or Squad from some of the complaints I've seen. It isn't that bad. It feels great.

Like if I go to take over a point I'm likely just taking on one other squad or maybe 2, it doesn't suddenly turn into the entire enemy team spawning on the point. Feels much more intimate and impactful

The helicopters are insane though. Seriously I'm sick of being forced to play engineer if I don't want to get farmed all game by vehicles, and there is so much cover on this map for helicopters a good pilot will ruin the game.

I've been playing Redsec with my friends recently and wanted to drop my thoughts on it here.

Not really a fan. Much prefer Apex (although I don't really like battle royales in general)

I feel like the game incentivizes camping and third partying way too much - Recon is stupid powerful with the motion sensor and drone. Just camp out, throw your drone out when you hear gunshots and then third party. Motion sensor to spot anyone coming up to your camping spot. Even better if you have a vehicle - then you can roll up and third party even more effectively. There isn't much reason to engage in combat or missions as you get fully kitted out pretty quickly, there isn't some big upgrade or legendary weapon that is worth farming/risk for.

Many times if you want to win you don't do the fun option of getting kills or pushing teams or laying down fire. You just sit and wait. I really dislike that.

Tsuru Reef seems to be the first BF6 map where Blackhawks are used properly by taking caps and attacking vehicles and infantry, so I'm fine with it. In the other BF6 maps Blackhawks were yolo transport to get to a objective quickly, lol.

I think Wake Island is gonna be nuts tho.

There's a weird flow to it. It's big enough that at one point I was just running on circles capping like 3 points.

Sometimes by the time I'd arrive, enemies would be gone and I'd recap without seeing a single person. Or maybe it was one person doing the same thing about I'd kill them and move on.

I swear people don't even fly these fucking things on this map half the time and they literally just try to ram you because apparently you can just slam them into shit at 100mph no big deal now

I'm having flashbacks to people hitting enemies with planes in the older games

I have to say the new map on Team Deathmatch is quite good. Lots of destruction, long range, but close quarters in the houses. You can move up together as a squad with revives and it plays quite nice. I wish they had done that with Eastwood, with the TDM version being set in the houses. Instead we got the center of the map and it plays horribly.

The Conquest version is okay but again too small. The boats are okay, but capture zones are out of reach for the boats. Typically you need to pull up to a dock to capture. In the BF4 maps the capture zones were more centered around the boats in many places. Even in Operation Mortar (?) there were inland water ways with small bridges that would bright the fight up close with infantry or ground vehicles. These were capture points. It allowed everyone to capture, and allowed for C4 boat traps, armor vs boat, etc. The new BF6 map also has too light water boundaries if you want to circle the island. Feels like they are a bit too detached from the fighting.

Very happy with the TDM version, but as usual the Conquest version leaves a lot to be desired.

Conquest, too small??? On the Tsuru Reef map???

The breakthrough version is true ass though

That's my biggest problem with vehicles (tanks, heli/little bird) in the normal game. I can do some cool stuff but anytime you leave safety you are pretty much done. Can't have a 1v1 tank fight in golmund. I initiate, they run away, it becomes a 1v3 if I chase. Boring.

In little bird you HAVE to do "runs", if you don't move at 100mph at all times you're done. You can't go 20mph to try and take someone out, even for three seconds.

If you want to go 50-2 you have to play it in an extremely lame, boring way.

Vehicles are just extremely meh to me in this game. The balance just really doesn't feel right with them compared to like BF4.

I don't think they're particularly fun to play in or play against. Tank vs tank combat is just awkward as shit.

Half the time it seems more useful to basically park one back a bit and plink away with the gunner seat because it absolutely liquifies infantry in microseconds and the only way for you to die is to get attacked by 4 guerilla engineers at the exact same time - if even.

So now you park your ass somewhere and the only thing that can exist in that area is another vehicle. And unless the planets align, you're probably not going to kill it, and it's probably not going to kill you.

Yeah I find it to be quite small.

Vehicles almost never kill each other. It can happen, but only a few times a game if you're lucky. Point that out to the BF6 fans and they will deny it. But compare it to BF3 and BF4, vehicles would be more aggressive and would often kill each other. In bF6 they seldom do. Infantry ends it or the vehicles drive behind a rock and repair and pop back out very quickly.

The balance just really doesn't feel right with them compared to like BF4.

This is right. I don't hate it, but it is inferior to what BF3/4 had.
