Counterfeit Microsoft Peripherals on Amazon?

Hey,

Has anyone else had this problem?

I've been looking to buy one of those bluetooth Microsoft Arc mice that fold flat when not in use to put in my work laptop bag where I don't have much space.

I just received my third one and just like with the previous two, each from different buyers, I received a counterfeit product in a shitty box with Chinese labeling and instructions.

It comes in this shitty box (not mentioning Microsoft anywhere, despite the sale page saying it was a Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse)

The Chinese instructions:

And it doesn't even look like it is bluetooth. It comes with a USB dongle.

Getting a counterfeit product happens every now and then, but three times in a row from different sellers? That sounds extreme.

It feels like Microsoft has lost control here.

Amazon comingles inventory. Fakes show up a lot because they mix their stock with third party sellers'. Not surprising on easy items like you ordered that you've been bitten. Hence why I rarely order much from them. Poor cs, higher prices, mixed inventory, horrible search, tons of fakes, often delayed prime shipping nowadays. They've become an American alibaba.

.People who say Newegg is bad are hilarious when they say to order from Amazon instead.

I agree with most of that.

Especially the "fuzzy logic" search when I am searching for specific part numbers. It drives me up a wall.

That said, at least I've never had a problem getting a refund from Amazon.

Newegg - on the other hand - can be problematic.

Sorry to hear that. One more gripe I have with Amazon is they have have a hard policy of no price adjustments, even if the item hasn't arrived yet. I have had items drop $50 after buying and it shipping, but they insist I return that one and order a second one. Its wasteful and a poor policy in general.

It's important to pay attention on Amazon to the "sold by" and "shipped by" categories. The ONLY time I buy from a seller that isn't Amazon is if it's the manufacturer. Noctua for example sells their own gear on Amazon. But random third party sellers I have little desire. Unless it's an incredibly simple product that's hard to mess up.

Is that even considered a counterfeit? It doesn't even say the brand. Lol Amazon, lol China.

If it's sold as a Microsoft thing, yeah. If it's sold as it is (maybe as 'compare to'), eh, I'm fine with it. I lean counterfeit for this case, cause the sales page says it's a Microsoft product.

Sometimes I can tolerate cheap Chinese shit. When that's the case, I order from Amazon or drive to Walmart.
