Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Origin client required? I'll pass, and stick to the original, highly modded.
and $60 cheaper minus $4 ( for faster DL speeds) after free sign up at NexusMods. I guess if you're one of the privileged few to have 4 GTX 1080 Ti's in SLI to play smoothly at 4K Ultra the new release will be a must have but for the rest of the world? Not so much.

lol at getting butt hurt because you saw getting someone butt hurt about people getting butt hurt in the future

in all seriousness though, it's just annoyance at people being so stupid. i'm sure you can relate.

No butt hurt here man, just laughing :).

Sure stupid people are annoying, why let them live in your head though? I'm more of a out with it then done kinda guy.

very true... something i need to work on, lol.

back to the topic at hand, i'm really enjoying the first game so far. it's nice to have controller input as an option. i'd definitely like to be able to tweak the FOV though... i'm sure this can be tweaked somewhere in the .ini files, possibly exactly the same as original ME1 but i haven't tried it yet.

The FOV does seem to be the same vert- angle as the original version, doesn't it?

Using Mouse/Keyboard doesn't work if any controller is plugged in (joystick, etc) and as far as I can tell there's no way to disable controllers in-game or through config files. I'm not going to crawl under my desk and continually unplug/plugin controllers every time I want to play mass effect. Guess I'll have to be satisfied just replaying the original games.

bummer

What happens at the menu for you?
Seems to have started working now. The main menu wasn't responding to the mouse position (or any keys) and if I clicked it just minimised the game. Maybe it was doing some sort of online nonsense and the servers were busy. It hasn't downloaded an update or anything.
Edit: or maybe not, now I get the same lack of response on the character selection menu. Good times.

Got a controller plugged in by chance? That seems to really screw up mouse/keyboard.

This game is very bad and I say that because I started playing at 11am today and now its 6:49pm and I had to summon the will to tear myself away from it to go to the gym and do something because I have the covid 245 problem my doctor made me acutely aware of yesterday.

Otherwise, I cant wait to get back, this game is a masterpiece. This is the Mass Effect I've expected and loved all my life. Give the franchise to these developers, clearly we are on the same level of passion.

Best game release of the year.

Lol I think a lot of us people already knew it was 😁. That’s why U see so many people complain about andromeda. We went from that master piece. To the piece of....well u get the point.

Glad you get to experience the game!

I've played some Mass Effect 1 today. Interesting note, they changed the save file format for ME1 from its original version. ME1 in the Legendary Edition no longer works with its original save formats. However, ME2 and ME3 still use their same formats. ME2 however, will not import an original ME1 save which is unfortunate.

given that there were pretty major changes to me1 (relatively) while, as the dev team said, me2 and me3 were almost totally unchanged, i think that stands to reason

So refresh my memory since it's been a long while. Basically the good or bad choices you make in ME:1 carry over to ME:2 right?

Edit: Downloading ME:L right now 10GB downloaded so far.

ME: A was heartbreaking because they were close to a great game, but whiffed on story, and had weird side missions that detracted or actually contradicted the main storyline. I'm still hoping for a sequel, partly because the multiplayer was fun.

Not going down the rabbit hole of Andromeda (there's a 100-page thread on it), I think that's the general concensus: good, almost great game that should have a sequel.

I'll likely pick this up once it's $15 or below. I'd like to go back to play through the original MEs, but no way I'm paying $50 for a game I already own regardless of how much lipstick they put on it.

It's not the basic story that's the problem. There are some detail issues. In my opinion, the bigger issue is the lame protagonist and pacing problems brought about by the quest structure.

Sorry to say, you'll not get this game period. Considering that the original 3 combined have never gone that low even without DLC. One of the reason that I have not replayed ME1 much is the combat mechanics. Now that it's fixed and couple with the glorious graphics update. It's an instant buy.

this whole article smacks of

That's just my opinion, please don't be triggered by it.
The udina one is bad, but the rest is actually a huge improvement. ME1 never looked right, all locations had a very bluish tone to them, which made everything bland and monotone, now the environments actually seem unique. Nothing wrong with that.

Also, I love this shot despite the left side glitch. Looks like some HDR weirdness, too.

Anyone had problem with the game detecting a HDR display. Both my Monitor and TV is HDR 1000+ and my 4K disc player and Netflix have no problem detecting HDR support but the in game option will not detect HDR when set to Auto. the adjustment slider say HDR not detected.

Do you have HDR turned on in Windows?

there are some serious stuttering issues in some areas... no idea why but on some of the side quest planets it's just awful. some parts of the citadel would stutter too, i assume it's from really poorly optimized asset streaming. makes the game feel janky as hell sometimes.

Have to say that the gameplay changes in the first game are subtle, but make it much more enjoyable to play. The inventory, though, still overall works like the original game and is a pain to use. I really like the Mako improvements, in particular, especially getting full XP for kills. The new 30 level scaling that is on by default feels good. Overall the first game feels a lot easier at the start on Insanity. The game has the health gate from the later games that has saved my butt at least once.

Have to say you're right. Seeing the game in person makes all my nitpicks disappear.
my bet, they modernized the console versions and ported it to PC.
The Series X|S has some stuttering issues, too. The more you play the game the more you'll recognize how it's still built on the original engine and that a lot of the quirks and issues with the original are still present. Shadow casting in particular is still sketchy. Was disappointed to see that the shadows from your characters on the elevators at the Citadel are no longer affected by the lights speeding by from the exterior.

"the Commanders Shepard" lol, cute way of wording that. should be a fun little stream to check out!
It was!! I watched the entire stream. It was great seeing how emotional they all felt about each other and the entire project. You could tell they became a real family.

Its the mouse problems that really highlight that its console not PC made.

Bioware is still acting like the B or C team they had with Andromeda in regards to how they're treating the PC release sadly. I definitely see this with 32:9. 😣
