Cyberpunk 2077

somebody had to take the fall for the state of this game...looks like Zawadzki was it...

Cyberpunk 2077 lead gameplay designer leaves CD Projekt Red

Andrzej Zawadzki, a lead gameplay designer on Cyberpunk 2077, has announced that he will be leaving CD Projekt Red after nearly eight years with the studio

Zawadzki joined CD Projekt Red as a QA tester, working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its DLC Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine...according to his LinkedIn, he was then given the role of Junior Gameplay Designer in 2016 and began working on Cyberpunk 2077...during the course of its development, Zawadzki took on different roles including RPG Coordinator, before becoming the game's Senior Gameplay Designer in March 2020...

Not really surprising, the gameplay has been designed and what is left is just clean up and release of DLC.

There might be an argument that he was over promoted given his limited experience, but that is something we will never know.

QA tester to Senior gameplay designer in 4 years!

That list of fixes is actually incredible. Seems like they fixed several things in the quest that broke for me (Small Man, Big Mouth), so I look forward to hopping back in and playing a little more.

Cool. I might actually start this game this weekend finally. I keep putting it off.
this seems like a good time to get in if you've been waiting for it to be fully-baked. Ive been playing since v1.06 and have been pretty lucky in not having too many game-breaking bugs but there's definitely still some weirdness on 1.12.

Mostly I just haven't had time to commit to it

1.2 looks like it could be good, finally mention of fixing shit like not being able to pick up items. I might have to hop back in just to check it out. Still not sure if I want to start another playthrough yet, probably not.

Looks like they fixed quite a lot. Been meaning to go back and finishing the second playthrough.

I'm 175 hours in, and near the end. Got kind of bored of it honestly, as I did 100% the first play.

Through there were a few small things that were different, and there are actually choices in the game (they just don't really let you know).

1.2 patch notes released

loooong changelist, looks like what 1.0 should have been.

great start...now I might actually give it a go...although I'm sure each successive patch will make the game that much better...until the inevitable definitive CP2077: Enhanced Edition with 200+ new animations, additional NPC models and recoloring of generic NPC models as well as monsters, vastly expanded and corrected dialogues in translated versions, improved stability, improved gameplay features and load times reduced by roughly 80% (those are the Witcher Enhanced Edition cliff notes ;))

Downloading now. Played with RTX first time, it was borderline 60 fps. Second play was with no RT tweaked settings to get high refresh (about 115 fps with previous patch).

Wouldn't mind seeing a little higher than that, my screen is 160Hz but I rarely get that high in games (except DOOM Eternal).

Can only comment on the performance atm.. And it is even better then last patch.. Can finally enjoy the game at max settings with RTX features all on and pretty much never drop below 60fps. Intel 6600k + Nvidia 2080..

Roughly how much of a performance jump from before? May give it a try but might not bother. Think I'll wait for DLCs before diving back in.

At what resolution?

Strange resolution. I'm at 2560x1440.
It's a decent resolution. My last monitor was 2560x1080 34" ultrawide. 1080p still can look great, and the performance is very good.

I was playing some old games like HL2, L4D, and FEAR at virtual 5K resolution and it was so good. Also played games like Control with full RTX and all effects with like 90 fps.

Only problem was that it was really bad for doing work. I do indie game dev, and the screen real estate was an issue for many apps like Photoshop or Visual Studio.

But if you have an older machine, that can only really do 1080p, it's still an okay option for people on a budget.

34 gig update? Good lord that will take at least 3 hours with my internet. And I bet the game will still have laughable levels of pop-in. Really TBH I am not even all that impressed with the graphics in the game. It looks a bit dated overall and some aspects are just cringy bad such as the aforementioned pop-in, janky animations and the roaches that literally just vanish right in front of you.

Agreed, as a whole it looks decent but up close, some of the textures are pretty shitty. Also agree, 34GB patch is laughable.

I tried it, performance was okay but didn't seem any better for me.
guess everyones mileage will vary. I do have a pretty old CPU so maybe there was some improvements for older CPUs made. Either way im very happy with performance atm.

Only half-joking when I say that I'm waiting with bated breath for reports of game-breaking bugs being introduced in v1.2 lol. Honestly probably going to wait for 1.21 or 1.22 since 1.12 bugs are at least the devil I know...
