Cyberpunk 2077

These are realistic features... that it is near impossible to enjoy on KB&M because your throttle and brakes are either on or off. There us no nuance, no easing in, no half throttle. The closest thing we get is repeatedly tapping a button to try and simulate partial throttle / brake, and it only provides a degree of success. I haven't done any racing for flight sim in a long while, but for any driving mechanic to "feel good", these are a necessity.

If you were going for the fastest possible driving in theory you would always be full throttle or full brake. So at least there's that working for you even though it isn't ideal in practice.

But steering with only full left, right, or straight is just bad. And when you combine it with full throttle full brakes it's really bad.

That said I think the driving really isn't that bad, it could just be much, much better if they actually used the mouse.

I don't think it's possible to lap anybody. The AI cars continuously respawn behind you so they're always right on your tail. Perhaps they respawned in front of you either by a bug or a scripted event. I do agree though that the racing missions were a joke. I used Claire's ride and breezed right through them all.
I was talking about mafia.

Keyboard controls have existed since forever in sims. Depending on the quallty of the implementation it can be enjoyable. And CP2077 has it implemented fairly well. Steering is definitely not only 0 or full lock. I've seen open world games that did that. The tapping a button trick wouldn't work if there was no easing in. I usually play beamNg from keyboard as well, just for fun. Using a wheel is not even as fun, but it definitely makes driving easier. I've been playing racing games with a keyboard since 1992. I think I can tell when it's done badly or well.

Yeah this game would be a drag on keyboard and mouse I could see that already just started playing tonight.
The Hand to Hand combat is pretty nice compared to other games that tried the same thing.

This is the best videogame I played in the past 10 years it's like Rage 2 but the ingame system is alot more complex. I don't mind the cut scenes at all because they are all over the top.

My game..PS5..is constantly crashing. This is only happening since the last update. Sucks.

All of the eyecandy in this game causes me some pretty bad eyestrain after 3-4 hours I played. It's a fun game to look at
but the design of the game is we'll do whatever we want. I feel like a patron of LIzzy's bar and will never buy a VR headset because of it.

I finished my first play through last night, what a fantastic game. I avoided all spoilers about the endings and just went with what felt right. After reading up on the various endings this morning I got what is commonly described as the “second best ending”. But personally I think it’s the best ending for my tastes, and definitely for my first play through.

I think I’ll start a second play through and be a stealthy sniper and blade expert and be all about that corpo life.

I've driven around for hours in cars and never had issues, and that's just using keyboard controls.

Having 3rd person camera helps, and if you run someone over, it's not like the cops have vehicles, they won't chase.
🤷‍♂️
Until you slide for an entire city block and accidentally jump a curb into a crowd and you're literally dead in seconds because fucking rocket launcher turrets come out of 17 buildings and waste you instantly.

Amusingly the fastest way to stop your car is to just try to get out. 210-0 almost instantly. Or just plow into another car. Both are zero risk.

There is on best ending, just least bad from a big pile o poo.

Just got into a battle with about 5 tiger claws. I killed one, ducked behind a box, came up and they all disappeared. Oh well. Bye.

well game is crashing on me now like every 5 to 10 minutes. first 10 hours of play I have zero crashes.

That happened to me for a while and then just stopped. Lasted about a day.
New patch this week?

That's just complete speculation. Doesn't mean it'll be wrong either, but they're just pulling shit out of their asshole to create an article.

It was either this thread or another were that "article" was posted and I basically said the same thing. It's a whole lot of meaningless words with no facts.

This is the typical article an AI would write.
Also welcome to gaming journalism today.

It's kinda funny to read different articles about OP builds. I honestly think that every build is pretty OP once you get past 15'ish in a particular area. Blades, bats, rifles, hacks, etc. The game just isn't super tough, especially once you get used to it and start leveling up.
You have to get Intelligence to 20, but the single easiest way to annihilate anyone and anything is Legendary Ping + Short Circuit/Suicide. You can wipe out an entire platoon before they even see you. Through walls and everything. It doesn't feel very satisfying, but you pretty much never get hit outside of missions that require it. If you level up with quickhacks in mind, you can get those pretty early in the game.

The various alcohol items sell for a lot of money. Any mission where you go to a club/bar/etc. you can make at least 2-3K just grabbing booze and re-selling it. It's a manual process, but the bottles are pretty easy to spot in your inventory. AFAIK there's no other use for it, too.

I feel like I get more money breaking them down into crafting tems and selling those directly. At least that's basically the strat with $10 soda machines. Buy out the machine, break down the stacks of sodas into mats and sell the mats.

I honestly don't know if I've ever sold any crafting materials. Ever. I bet I have piles and piles. The only things I've ever crafted have been quickhacks and armadillo mods and I bet I've broken down at least 1000 guns and pieces of clothing.

This is a good idea. I’m drowning in crafting materials so I might as well sell some - the thought had never occurred to me.

I'm early on in my second playthrough but I get tons of Common materials and those the only ones I'm selling right now. Just make sure you have the perk for extra materials from dismantling first.

If I recall correctly a stack of 2000 common materials was netting me ~$13k

Whoever said they are replaying using Blades, its pretty fun. I dunno if the other skill trees are similar, but blades definitely made the entire game ez-mode.

They all do. When you are higher level in a few areas the game ends up being easy even on "very hard" difficulty.

Re: crafting and junk, it seems more cost effective to just sell some of the higher-end guns rather than breaking them down. You only get a handful of the rare/epic materials per disassembly, and often the guns themselves can sell for $1k+ in the later game.

The junk that is worth $750 each seems worth selling, I've come back from some missions and sold $4k worth of junk in a single go. Though I will say that later in the game I don't even bother picking up most stuff on the floor anymore, the good stuff generally seems to only come in containers anyway.

The real bottleneck for crafting for me has been Rare/Epic Item Components - I end up buying the full stack whenever I see them in a shop because a lot of the upgrades tend to use a shit ton, and for whatever reason I have about 4x more Upgrade components than Item components. Like with the blue MaxDocs, I suspect this is some inconsistency in the loot tables, because you are never going to get enough to regularly upgrade stuff buy just collecting them in the world. Even breaking down blue/purple items only gives you 1-5 or so of each for each item.

I basically finished my playthrough last night - went back and ran through all of the endings I had access to. I don't think I did enough to get the secret ending, but I watched it on YouTube and it's basically the same as the other "good" ending, so whatever. Maybe for my second playthrough in a few months when they patch it up some more.

Something that seems odd is that it seems there are some legendary/iconic items you can only get during the final quest line, which of course all (mostly) gets wiped at the end of the game. How do you actually get these items for real? I am thinking of stuff like the Prejudice rifle, the Amnesty revolver, etc.

On the same line of thought as MavericK, I can't find the items I was supposed to receive for completing the game anywhere in my inventory. Anyone know what the game gives you when you load back in after completing the game?

For what it's worth, it doesn't seem like money is all that important outside of buying cars...which at least IMO are basically worthless. There are some really high end weapons that cost a few hundred grand, but they're aren't much (if any) better than weapons you can find out in the world. You can potentially craft better, too.

Money, gear, and "builds" are a lot more important early in the game. The southwestern part of the map is littered with missions that require a deft approach until you hit level 13-14 or so. Plus, the gear you get from them you can't even use and the XP is the same. It's pointless to even bother. Later in the game you'll be able to kill every single enemy in those areas with 1 hit. You have to intentionally choose bad perks not to be overpowered.

For me, it was the Aldecaldos jacket and the Pride pistol. I think it depends on which endings you go through, but I'm assuming you can chain them (i.e., do one ending then load the "modified" save with rewards and then do a different ending) since the game loads you back in right before you walk into Embers.

Yes, in theory you can collect all of the end game rewards. Unfortunately, it seems to be bugged as I was only able to keep the Avocado jacket, but not the revolver from my first playthrough.

Indeed, there is no reason to pay $200k+ for a legendary weapon from a vendor, really ever.

It almost punishes you in the early to mid game for using attribute points in the "wrong" way, given how many random areas are blocked off by a skill check that you may or may not be able to ever come back to. So it almost makes sense to just wait to allocate points until you actually need them - I started doing that later in the game.

I'm sure someone will come out with an "optimal" starting build to be able to hit everything, but until then...yeah.

From what I have read you just don't get to keep it, but it's hard to say if that's a bug or not. If I had to complain about the game, it's that it's often hard to tell when things are bugs or just really bad design or an unfinished feature. For example, during some of the endings in the credits you see phone calls from various characters depending on your relationship with them during the game. Some of these seem disparate from which ending you picked, almost to the point where it seems like it was a mistake or bug. But it's just so hard to know.

One in particular being when you choose the Aldecaldos/Nomad ending, but in the end credits Mitch calls you and wonders where you are/what you've been up to. Which makes zero sense because you are literally with them, living in Arizona or whatever. This call showed up in other endings as well, which made a lot more sense in context for them, but it feels like sometimes the wrong phone calls play for whatever reason - I have to assume it's a mistake/bug.

Yeah don't actually do this. This is what I did and you're so fucking broken that it's completely unfun.

I was clearing entire buildings without even leaving my car. At some point I realized that I was hardly even playing the game any more.

Yeah, it's fun to mess around with for a bit, but I just ended up not using it because it's so overpowered. I actually would have liked to have seen more enemies/bosses that were resistant to quickhacks, because even with the cyberpsychos you can just use System Reset on them and completely trivialize the fight.

Quickhacks are relatively "fair" until you reach the later variations. That's when you start doing really crazy damage and being able to fire 'em off one after another. I don't think you could blast people in cover or behind walls via Ping earlier, but I might be wrong.
To me, they feel like something the developers originally intended as buffs you could use before attacking with conventional weapons. Something to weaken, identify, or stun enemies as part of a larger strategy. Rather than getting purple and gold versions, just make them scale with your level and INT score.
Then again, I also believe that just about any setup makes the game equally easy. I have a friend that made a stealth gun build that does way more damage that I'm doing...but this approach is way less effort.
