Zen 3 Launch Availability

When will it be possible to buy a Zen 3 cpu without using a bot or paying Scalper rates?

Its almost too quiet (crickets)

I cannot find any Zen3 launch info (time/availability/price) in Canada.

I'm not sure if I will be able to snag two CPUs online or go to the local store (with my dear wife) if there is actual limit of ONE CPU per client. My local shop told me today they are still waiting for day 1 inventory. I'm not sure if this is true or not. I would imagine computer stores would get them by now... right? Maybe AMD doesn't want to make a big deal, so some people will still be buying zen2 CPUs... I dunno...

They have placeholders on MicroCenter now:

No place holders on Newegg or Amazon yet. No time of sale announced yet. Is AMD just expecting people who want one at launch to sit at their computer all day/night waiting?

Hoping some information comes out tomorrow...

Honestly.. first time in a long time trying to buy an amd cpu and I am disappointed that I'm experiencing the same "shenanigans" as when buying Intel CPUs...i sure hope I don't regret my decision

At this point I think we're all stuck doing the 12am thing, and that's if you live on the West coast. Otherwise, just shoot me now... Guess I'll set an alarm for 1am.

I plan to call them today to see what kind of stock they are expecting. I can probably get my buddy that lives near a MC to switch by at lunch tomorrow to pick one up for me (assuming they will still have some) if I can't order one online by then.

Would still really like to know when they will show up online for ordering...

Please ask about 5900x / 5950x stocks and what time we can buy them.
thx

Finally got a hold of someone at MC after being on hold for 30+ minutes. She was from corporate, so I guess the call was transferred there after no one picked at the Fairfax store...

Anyway, she did not have information about the quantity each store would be receiving, nor could she tell me if the 5950X was going to be available or if stores already had received any stock.

She did say it would be a morning launch and she had just been informed that they will be handing out vouchers. She did not feel it would be necessary to camp out tonight to be near the front of the line like with the 3080 launch, which she admitted was a total cluster.

Sorry guys, not much info to go on, but at least it is something...

Oooo, I'll be upgrading from an 8700 setup too! My current rig is still capable but it's been 3 years and I'm helllllla itchy for an upgrade.
Yeah, my GPU upgrade made my machine feel kinda perfect. Then I went down a rabbit hole taking inventory of all our systems and the wife has a 6700k that is time for an uprade. With it being the last system also with 10Gbe I decided I'll get the upgrade and move my guts over to her's . She play's more lately but I know what the difference is and she'll just be as happy. I didn't want to just buy another nic for her, I just like my 10g on board not wasting a slot. Terrible I'm looking for to her image backup time dropping to 20-30 minutes from the 4 hour time like all the other systems.

Is there a support group for people with no access to a micro center ? I want to get a 5950x and not sure if the only online stores i will be checking will have one.
I mean I'm hoping the 5950x won't be the most popular choice but to knows 🤣

I'm just hoping that I'll be able to get one from Best Buy this month, as I've got a 10% birthday coupon that would be better spent on a CPU than a PS5.

...And if neither of those are available, uh... I dunno o_O
Check the fine print on those, they usually have a lot of exclusions..

I will probably be out at the FFX store tonight, a few mentions on the MC forums as well. So at least a small crowd for sure if not more.. A few are wanting 5950X that may not show due to rumours that they won't be available until December.

How is it that we are less than 24 hours away and we have no information on release time, no placeholders on Newegg, Amazon, etc...

Does AMD want this to be a shit show?

EDIT: The Far Cry 6 promotion time says it starts at 9 AM EST on 11/5, so that's as close as we have to a release time right now.

RIght? I was so pumped expecting a VERY different experience than my days buying Intel CPUs but all I am seeing is the same nonsense as with Intel so far. Still hoping I can get my hands on the 5950x on day one :/

They're gonna have so many cpus available it's not gonna matter.

... Or it'll be a shit show.

Gives you something to F5.
he has a point actually. If the product links go live right at the time of launch, no bot's will be in place yet, and people who search for and find the item can buy it quicker than someone can set up a bot to buy them out.

Was that part of AMDs anti-bot vendor instructions that they sent out? Makes sense that it wouldn't apply to Microcenter since they're in-store only.

Not necessarily. Many of the bots are associated with Discords where direct checkout api links or exclusive buying links (Amazon) are shared. They'll have those links up and ready long before the official product page go up. Happened with Ampere, PS5, and XSX launches. There is a good chance they'll be sold out before we'll even be able to find the product page if they're not posted in advance.

Still a better chance than bots being set to order as soon as add to cart shows up with no human intervention. I got the mx518 deal last week, I bet I can click through checkout quicker than the botmasters can click their stupid direct checkout links :D

Heh, if the bots do the same thing as before they'll be sold out before the listings even go live since I believe the direct checkout APIs go live before the product pages do.

Good luck everyone! :)
