RTX 3xxx performance speculation

Halo is never justified on a cost/performance basis. Not everyone does the math and buys that way. But you did say you wouldn't buy it and try to put your value proposition on it....did you?

Not sure what you're asking there.

Oh fuck, I got permission from the wife to use our single use 20% registry discount on a videocard if I can actually score one off amazon in the morning.

*sets alarm for 5 AM*

any info on when the sale of the cards goes live? like 12am EST or 12am PST or what?
I feel like this is such a weird launch with a lot of half baked information.
Almost like the PS5 where we still don't know the release date of.

6am Pacific is when Nvidia says the FE's will be available.

Will other major online retailers follow this time frame? Are they even allowed to go live before NVIDIA?
It's going to be the wild wild west out there, Some of the bigger sites aren't caring about what Nvidia said and released some to judge if the hype is real.

It’s gona be a long night. I’m really hoping these sites just turn the dial at the crack of midnight.

My take is it's not worth staying up (or getting up early) over.

If you don't get it on launch day, you'll likely get it in a couple of weeks. No biggie.

There is really no benefit to being first. I'd much rather sleep in.

Except it's not tomorrow they're available...
Some might be, I still have a month or two until the coupon ends. Either way, got a few email reminders setup and just in case they DO launch during the 6 AM release period, i'll be ready.

Hmmm, when it comes to price, I'm speaking about Sweden.
Asus 3080 Strix is at almost €1000.
MSI 3080 Gaming X Trio is at €850.

Boost clocks:
Asus: 1740
MSI: 1815

Boost clocks taken from the official page. MSI however is rated at 340w.
I'm definitely going for MSI again. Hope I actually manage to snatch one. I'll also order an FE edition.

Edit:
Holy, the size of these cards, might not fit into my case. I'll have to measure. I think I either barely don't have space, or barely have space.

NVidias lockdown a few years back, that they had to back out of, clearly is still in effect in some form.
[H] stood directly against them but you wont find any of those articles now with the loss of the front page.

so what do you guys predict?

I think most of people will be somewhat disappointed with all the hype...

It depends whether reviewed games can make use of the dual FP32 imo.
Those that can will fly.
Those that cant will look nearer 25% faster than the 2080ti.
... says my fuzzy head

Yeap, that's fair assessment. Myself I'm leaning toward 3080 for 1440p@165 gaming. However I will wait for 3070 to see the gap between them in that particular resolution.

A bit sad there are no custom card reviews atm. Perhaps later during the day?

At 1080p this card is CPU bottlenecked from a couple of reviews I've looked at so far. 1440p not so much, but at 4K this GPU (3080) is a great performer. If you have a 2080 Ti and game at 1080p this isn't the droid you're looking for if you ask me. I'd stand pat. Higher resolutions it's a nice card.

Guru3D review is up. 2080 ti gets absolutely destroyed, esp at 4k.
ROFL at absolutely destroyed. I hate when you reviewers go wishy washy and don't give you exact overall number. look at TPU, Its overall 24% faster then 2080ti at 4k from his chart in performance summary but in conclusion he said 31% but whatever, lets call it 30%. So about 65% faster than 2080. At 100 more watts. I am not sure where Nvidia is getting 1.9x efficiency over 2080, that is some horse shit lol. I mean I read the end of the review now its power efficiency at 4k? WTF? Its 17% more efficient at 4k, if AMD did this hell would break loose and they would be destroyed for beating 2080ti but it would have said but at way more power in every review. All you would have heard about is power usage power usage power usage lol. I was surprised to see TPU actually list Power Efficiency as PRO! hahaha.
