Cyberpunk 2077

Good to hear they went the deusex route with weapons. As you level up you aim faster reload faster and move faster with the same weapon. Instead of it magically gaining 10.000x more firepower because ubisoft.

I appreciate the different approaches you can take with the various weapons and implements. So far I like what I see, so I just have to hope the game runs and controls well.

Cool. Really not a fan of any songs Samurai (Refused) have put out so far (genre is just not my cup of tea), but in general, I really like what I see.
I bet the music has a slider- play whatever deathmetal you find appropriate. I have to admit, I hope the music changes per area or scene. I want to get caught thinking 'I like this group best by ideals and goals, but that group has the best grooves'...

Well then, I have submitted my vacation request for the week of November 19th. After everything 2020 has thrown at us so far (provided nothing worse happens to screw all this up), this game will be a nice escape. Something to look forward to anyway, which is something all by itself.

Are you planning to buy a new video card before then? I assume that raytracing will be the way to go with this title, but I imagine that the 2080Ti won't be enough to max this game out in 4k.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Ampere vs RDNA2.

I'm curious in general to hear what people plan to do. I have a Radeon VII, which I bet will get me to around 4k 30fps (average) obviously without raytracing and some level of compromise on visual detail. The cheap way is probably just to play on PS4 Pro or XB1X. I don't think CP2077 will also launch on next gen simultaneously (if it will, they haven't announced as such).

I wasn't planning on it, but time will tell. Since COVID I've been working more over-time than usual, so possibly. Of course a 100 mph wind storm just wiped out most of my city and we've been without power for near 3 days, so there is debate as to whether the global company I work for will restore our little (by comparison) plant or not. If things go sideways I'll be doing well to hold on to what I have. Just more 2020 it seems.

On a more enjoyable note, I really like this guy's breakdowns:

I will buy whatever card I need to play this game at max settings at 3440x1440, even if that means a 3080ti/3090/whatever Nvidia calls it this gen.

As for next gen: The game will work on the PS5 and XSX at the launch of those systems and will apparently look a bit better but there will be a big next gen update coming for the game sometime next year.

Same here, but if either company drop a card that can do 3440x1440 with ray-tracing before November I'll be hard pressed to not buy... I just don't feel like rebuilding my loop.

I'm glad I never went with building a custom loop like I had originally planned to do when I got my case. Now the custom loop plans can wait until the next generation of GPUs. Gives me time to save up to do something really nice anyway.

I'm not just buying a new Ampere GPU for Cyberpunk but I'm also building a new system (my current system is literally 10 years old minus the GPU and SSD upgrade)...ideally I would love to get a Zen 3 CPU but I'm getting tired of waiting and might just go with a Ryzen 3700X

Same, my OG Ryzen (1700?) is still good~ish, but the MSI motherboard it's on is a stepheaded redchild. It doesn't even work with MSI's universal apps.

Might be worth waiting a bit longer. Zen 3 should be out before Cyberpunk and it could lead to deals on Zen 2 parts, even though its likely that you won't be able to find Zen 3 for a while after launch (unless you're lucky).

waiting is the best move but I'm just impatient...I've literally been slowly gathering parts...things like the PSU have been hard to find for the past few months so that made the wait a bit easier...but last week I was finally able to snag the PSU I've been waiting for- Corsair RM750x and a few days ago I got one of the better mobo's- MSI X570 Tomahawk...I thought Zen 3 was rumored for September which I was fine with waiting for but now I'm hearing it might not drop until November

I think the Lifepath I'm going to choose for my first run is The Nomad...since that's the only one that starts the character outside of Night City

Street Kid: Judge Dredd
Nomad: Mad Max
Corpo: Blade Runner

What more can ya want? Personally, leaning toward Corpo asshole

I'm going Corpo first playthrough, I know there's a lot of people talking about going Nomad first, but I think Corpo will be especially unique and will be a big contrast doing something like Nomad or Street Kid after it.

I'm leaning towards Street Kid for my first playthrough, but we'll see. There's plenty of time to decide.

I'm personally going to do Corpo first. Seems like the Corpo option is you leaving that life behind after finding out what corporations are really about. Which is something I identify with.
Probably will be a stealth run. Perhaps Netrunner? I tend to like sniping and hacking.
After that maybe a Nomad brute force playthough.

my reasoning for going with Nomad first is that it might be the only way you get to travel outside of Night City

Offtopic but has anyone ordered the "The World of Cyberpunk 2077" book and actually had it ship yet? I ordered from Amazon after Night City Wire e2 which I believe was a few days after it initially released. Still says not shipped yet for me.

Same for me, still says waiting for stock.

Pre-ordered mine when it became available, and received it on time. It's a really fun book... well written, with a lot of really cool concept art.

Yea I'm looking forward to it whenever it arrives. Does it have a decent amount of backstory and information about the world?

I know it won't be the same as reading the Witcher series before playing the games because there was so much source material, but knowing a good amount about the world always adds to the experience.

The entire book is basically nothing but a backstory about the world. There's a ton of info about the city, its history, and how it became what it is in 2077, referencing wars from recent past as well as other key events that helped shape the world. It's written from a perspective of a journalist that tries to give an overview of the city to a tourist vising the city. Each chapter introduces new characters. So when Judy Alvarez is introduced, she's the guide for braindance and she talks about various aspects of it. Then the next chapter covers different neighborhoods, and it basically starts out with "Today I meet with so-and-so, that is going to take me around...." and it almost reads like a short story. It's really fun considering it's just a book about a video game.

Almost makes me wish I had ordered the Delux Edition of the book, but damn... $90? Ehh...

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature adjustable text sizes for its subtitles...in response to a fan on Twitter who expressed concern about the legibility of subtitles text in recent game-play previews-- a sentiment echoed by others-- the Twitter account allayed those fears, confirming that both the size and color of subtitles will be adjustable...

It isn't. In an interview, it was confirmed that you can visit the Badlands anytime you wish.
