Destiny 2

So is Bungie offering to just transfer accounts or do you have to buy the game again on Steam?

Any purchases made through Activation are supposed to transfer to Steam. I believe all year one content is supposed to be in the F2P version, so you're really only buying the upcoming expansion if you purchase on Steam. They just don't seem to be playing up the F2P aspect during the pre-order phase (obviously they would rather get a bunch of pre-orders from people unaware there will be a F2P version at launch). Accounts and progress should also transfer over. It sounds like they are working pretty hard to ensure nobody ends up worse off over the transfer.

A buddy of mine wants to start playing today. He's hype. Whats the best way for him to get started. I remember when I was playing I was overwhelmed by all the stuff to do and at any time I was completely unsure of what I was supposed to be doing. My buddy is in a unique position. He took a 15 year break from PC gaming and is back as of 2 months ago. He's hype for D2 though, is there a beginner guide for him thats relevant right now?

Try this:
Otherwise search on Youtube for Destiny 2 beginners guides.

If he just plans to play casually and doesn't care about trying to optimize stuff for raids or min-max his builds then he can just play around with abilities to see what he finds most fun to us. Have him start off with the Titan class since that is probably the most beginner friendly of the three.

In addition to what Derangel linked above (which is awesome btw), if he's curious what he needs to buy today, its the $40 Forsaken Complete Collection on Battle.net. Unless he want's to wait until September when the base game and Year 1 expansions will be free. At that time, the whole game will move to Steam.

Looking a little more at that New Player guide, it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. The weapon classes and ammo types changed pretty drastically when Forsaken launched last September. I'm sure there are a few more things that changed that haven't been updated so keep that in mind if he uses that guide.

Finally ... that took way too long.

Just came back to D2 and got my outbreak as well. Used the looking for fire team function of the app and found a pair of guys that didn't mind showing me how to do zero hour. Took 3 tries, 3rd try we finished at 0:01 but we all got our outbreak!

Also did my first menagerie and my God was that fun, loving the new content from bungie. 1000x better than that drifter nonsense (I really don't like Gambit lol)

^^ See? This is just one of many, many samples of what awaits you folks who play the base vanilla game and then watch the tone shift and the massive expansion and upgrade across the boards of pretty much everything. ;)

And no, I don't work for Bungie. ;) The game is far from perfect but geez Louise has it evolved since it first came out.

Unless I can borrow a Warlock or pay someone off I'll never get that done because of that ghastly platforming on that outer wall.

Right now I'm just waiting to see how the cross saves are going to work. I'm locked to the PS4 and don't want to re-grind on PC, if I can start just jumping between PC and PS4 I will be so fucking excited.

That mission was difficult with little room for error. Last night was the first time I attempted the zero hour mission. I had watched videos ... many many videos ... too many videos ... so I was familiar with where to go and what to do. That one jump, which I thought was going to be so difficult really isn't if you are a warlock. I must have run Zero Hour 6-8 times to finally beat it. I just used the discord destiny LFG and the destiny 2 app to find a fireteam. The first 4 runs I was with a ...... difficult group and 2 of us could make it to the boss, but we just didn't have the time left, or the DPS, to complete it. Eventually I just dropped group, found a new one and we had to run it 2-3 more times. We actually ended up entirely carrying 1 guy (he didn't even make it to the boss) ... but everything went very smooth that run and me and the other guy were able to defeat the boss with 2 minutes left. Beer helped.

That's exactly how it will work. Later this summer they'll be dropping the details but right now i'm assuming they're working on the tool to enable this. Based on the screenshots from the ViDoc, there will be a process where you select the account you want to enable cross save on (in your case, your PS4 account) and then you'll be good to go to play with that account on both platforms.

There's a handy little site letting you know what you'll get from the Chalice runes.

I like Tassi and other's advice. Go for rune and efficiency first and work from there.

Also, the chests on the barge reset last night so I went and bought them all again for those sweet, sweet Imperials. Now i need to buy Glimmer from Spider to start infusing to try the new raid on Tuesday.

I realized: Wow, I actually have something to blow Glimmer on.

Got my week raid clear emblem. Light helps a bunch.

Warlocks master race.

Now to focus on Revoker

I would hope so. Solo I can get the boss about down to about 1/3 health left. I REALLY like running the Transversive steps as a Warlock. I use that and a outlaw/rampage roll of that Last Wish pulse rifle and Riskrunner. I can fly through the jumping puzzle. It really isn't that tough with a little bit of practice. I can two man it about 90% of the time (given they're knowledgeable at it), typically depends on how much the other person falls on the outside wall.

If someone on here needs help running it, but be more than happy to run it with folks.

Crown of Sorrow is SO hectic compared to SoTP, holy hell. Luckily after one clear, it all becomes much clearer. I think the 3rd encounter was the trickiest by far, especially since we were doing all swords. We were a little messy and we had the deception to a single sword swipe from death and had to two phase him but we killed Ghalran in one phase.

If your Warlocks have the Leviathan bond w/ Emperors Blaze mod, the damage increase was nuts. All Outbreak Primes got it done easily.

Once again, another A+ raid Bungie!

Loving the new menagerie powerful drop system. Being able to Target the specific slot you need for an upgrade is so beautiful, all my gear except for 1 was at 710 but could not get a class item to drop for the life of me. Realized I can just rune for a class item and bam it was fixed just like that lol.

They really have fixed the lack of powerful rewards and even for my casual ass I've gone up from 690@launch (thanks to the surge rewards) to 710ish by playing a few hours. Would be higher but I love crucible and lose so much time in there lol

Got Truth pretty late last night so I didn't use it... tonight i have Gambit and Crucible powerfuls/bounties to work on. Its going to be interesting.

So now that the Raptors have won the NBA championship I can finally get back to Destiny 2 lol.

I got it late last night as well

Follow up, its hilarious in Gambit. Sight in, fire, run away and you'll 90% of the time get the kill. Not nearly as universally useful as say Hammerhead in Gambit but man, is it fun.

I really like it in PvP as well. 3 rockets without reloading, as well as that above average tracking is pretty gross.

Got the Wendigo GL3 this morning. Officially my least favorite grind in Destiny. Awesome gun though.

i'm about half way through but my friends are too worried about power to just sit in blind well and get this done. Eventually...

Yeah, no one wants to just sit there and grind that crap out with me. One day I'll get it done.

The Wendigo grind seems especially harsh, even for a pinnacle weapon. I know you can cheese it a bit with the Blind Well thing, but you're still looking at several mind-numbing hours of that lol.

I did the blind well with a fire team this morning to grind it out a bit, but that was painful. I'm about a third done. It took about 25 tries just to get the corrupted strike to come up. Lol.

Btw-Got the Truth and Warden's Law hand cannon yesterday, but haven't tried them yet. I might try invading tomorrow.
