The Division 2

I’m getting my ass handed to me attempting them solo. I need to gear up, group up with people, or both.
This is life in the game. These people would have died if they really needed to be saved by me. In a group we tried a level 4 control point with other members of the clan it and it was hell. I was revived at least 4 times over the close to 45 minute encounter. We were all hyped after but needed s break. The things aren't the joke I thought they were when I was leveling up to 30.

These level 3 and 4 control points are freaking hard. I'm embarrassed to say I've died several times while trying to get these. And this was in a group too.

I am GS449, and I'm getting my ass handed to me trying to solo them. Crispy and I tried to Duo one last night and died 5 times a piece before we got it (lvl3). They are no joke, especially when street mobs join in.

Dont get me started on those roaming npc's. They will always not might but every chance they get come and see who's doing all this shooting. I have a policy to clear every red light near my objective in order to not get shot in the back of the head at the worst moment possible.

Trying to find some of these SHDs is a real challenge. I'm following the GPS and there is the one in Foggy Bottom I'm trying to get to and I'll be damned if I can find a way to it. I've gone all over the place.

Just completed the main story last night with my buddies. I am still only level 23. I have a ton of side missions to complete still. I started out leveling and clearing each area of all events but then read its easier to power level when you do the main quests and do side missions after level 20. I will start doing that tonight, i know one of the guys from my clan wants to start doing strongholds. I'm getting anxious to get to the end game stuff I heard its just as fun as leveling.

This was a tip that went around a lot: You will level up to 30 fast now because each side mission is worth 33 percent to the next level no matter what. You're right on the money.

Many are a puzzle of "how the heck do I get into that building!?!" I know a couple I had to find a way on top of a neighboring building, which then had a bridge into the building I needed... or an underground entrance... or climb up a not so obvious obstacle to get in a window... or find an angle on a door that wouldn't open to shoot off a lock.... or an electrical panel.

I swore, but in the end I enjoyed the challenge.

Wo0t! Been waiting for this video:

Yea best to look at the weirder ones during the day in the game while its clear out. If its night or raining you might not see what you need to do. A few of them I had to go back to a time or two in better light to find how to get in.

Don't tell me that!

Now I'm contemplated upgrading to 32GB..

I've have zero stutters since upgrading to 32G RAM as well, so there's another data point. I'm also able to run DX12 now - upgraded motherboard/CPU/RAM so not sure which of those (or all of them together) fixed that for me.

Our HardOCP clan earned the highest tier weekly clan cache this week. Nice!

Yeah, you guys rock! I've been wearing my clan bandana while I slowly explore and level up - hit 25 last night teamed up with my son. Pretty cool to be gaming with him again, last time was Div1 while he was away in college. Now he is married and even though he lives local, I was only seeing him every couple of weeks or so. Now it's every night online. :)

Anyone notice that objects in the game is not smooth when panning? My framerate is high and smooth, but not the objects. I have a Vega 56 and 144hz freesync monitor.

Lowering graphic settings does not help. And it is not my mouse polling rate.

The framerate is obviously smooth, just the objects are not, hard to describe.

It's kinda like when Quake Live was first released, you could have 100+ FPS, but characters in the game moved jittery/stuttery due to the lower gameplay refresh rate. Is this what's happening in The Division 2?

Resident Evil 2 has the same problem. All my other games are fine. What's ironic is that these two games were included with my Vega 56.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I definitely notice this and it was the same in the first game. The contrast in going from The Division to a game like BFV is extremely noticeable. Some game engines just feel ‘smoother’ to me. Snowdrop is probably the worst offender for me in that regard, and The Division being a third person game exacerbates it.

gotta love it when you find a faction war and one of the sides takes down a named boss before you can put a bullet on him

I ran to a PvE supply drop yesterday and set up shop where I could see all 3 crates and waited to take out the spawning NPC’s. I sat around for a while before I realized there was a faction war going on right at the NPC spawn point. So I grabbed all three crates without interruption. Then I went over and finished off the few remaining NPC’s from the faction war.

Eek, 2 x the game has crashed within a 30min window.

3x now. Going to do a reboot and check for new drivers.

So random question, once you hit 30 do you have an opportunity to finish all the side missions, etc? I'm probably going to hit 30 tonight and due to some prolonged exploring, I'm way behind on the side missions, haven't touched strongholds, or finished the story missions.

I would recommend doing them before you do the last stronghold. One you hit endgame the world gets far more violent. Getting to a side mission can be a bit of a fight in itself with the new bad guys(and flying drones)

I'm in world tier 2 and its getting real rough. I wish you could spawn right outside a control point vs somewhere else and running back to it. Did one of the missions to unlock the stronghold and honestly don't know if I want to continue. Just got tied of the wave after wave of attacked to get through it. Between that, loosing my special ammo when I log out, and the random retaking of control points I'm just not having fun. I went in and took 3 control points back, logged out and went to bed. Today two of them were retaken.

Yea that shit has already happened to me a few times. I'll be attacking something and the game spawns a group behind me that screws everything up.

The WT1-3 strongholds are not that bad. WT4 suck. Tier 3 is the only way to get missing weapon mods, and I think you need about 40 of them or so.
If you die that attempt gets pretty much hosed.
If other enemies get involved and they die, and they are related to the control point then it may jack it up to Alert 4 which is a world of hurt.
Partially clearing it at alert 1 and coming back does not seem to work. If it is not "occupied" then you cannot increase the alert level.
Dying and running back, ,have what was formally full of enemies now has friendlies captured it out of nowhere, and you get nothing.
Anyway just some gripes. Started doing the daily challenge missions and they are pretty great in terms of loot.
Overall this game is far superior to the former. In the former you needed DZ because the world, even populated with enemies, was not that interesting.
Here they added a DZ level of enemies and events. It is pretty amazing how some small fights turn into big fights as multiple enemies get involved.

I've gotten to level 5 pretty fast and only run the first mission but 2-3 side missions so far. I've not had great luck on guns so far. Up until lv 4-5 I was getting mostly all rifles. No sub guns, LMG, snipers or assault weps.

Anyone know if that armor/health on kill gear stat works well at lvl 30? I got it on a set of kneepads or a mask and I couldn't tell if it was working.

This was an exploit that got fixed. For all of about a day and a half you could clear a T1 Control Point, without calling in friendlies, then go do the 2 side events, go back to the unclaimed Control Point, call in your Friendlies and only have the final wave of T3 enemies to fight. I didn't get in on it.

I spent almost an hour trying to clear a T3 CP I started with WetDogBreath. 2 Elite Resource Mobs joined in, plus other random mobs. We were hiding on a nearby roof, and still died 4 times. Luckily the friendlies were still trying to capture it, so it didn't reset.

Ran the first strong hold last night with my friends from work (which happen to be clan members). Man it was intense considering that we haven't hit 30 yet. I'm at 25 and have a lot of stuff to work on. That Hyena strong hold was a ton of fun though, it was constant action. My biggest problem right now is that i don't have enough room for the loot I get lol....

Start working on a build (youtube). Sell or break down everything not a part of that build.
Keep items that have specific high stats, example, 35% damage to elites or 10%+ crit chance, also keep valuable talents.
Break down things one by one until you reliably stop getting materials, then sell the rest in that item category.
It is all going to become trash anyway as you climb gearscore.
There appears to be some mechanic where you can raise the GS of an item one time but I am not sure how that works

I'm still figuring that out as well. The Talents seem to have a ranking of their own. Recalibrating with one Talent (from a piece with the same GS) will raise the GS, while another will be neutral or lower it. I added the Talent that gives Health on Kill to a piece last night, and it changed it from a GS450, to a GS461. I know all of this will change when we get Gear Sets and 6 pcs, but it would be nice to know how this works now.

I have several applications to our Clan, but none of the names are on our list, or register as Forum Members. If you are applying, or have friends trying to get in, please PM me with Uplay names so I know who to accept and who to decline. I have a couple invites out now, but neither has responded and it looks like they have only played the Intro. We have 1 opening as of last night.

Small Patch 3-28-19, lots of bug fixes

Tidal Basin drops April 5th

Some details

Unrelated to all that, I've downed 3 Hunters now. Demolitionist is definitely helpful for that. Even better if I can hit them with Shock or Incendiary ammo first to stagger them. Despite which weapon is "best" in a certain category, I'm very pleased that they all seem to feel relevant. Tried doing a Challenging daily mission last night. I actually think it is easier to solo them than to run them with a full squad. Four of us did the Bank HQ and wiped at the end 7 times before we gave up. There were simply so many enemies we couldn't crowd control enough to keep from getting overrun; even with 2 choke points with flame turrets at each. You don't get your Signature ammo back when the checkpoint reloads, so it just gets harder the more attempts you make. Hopefully this gets balanced eventually. Still a good learning experience, and fun in some respects. I tried being the Healer, but there really isn't a good Build for this yet it seems.

I got a 4 day weekend coming and thinking of buying the game. Figured I'd give them time to do patches/updates. I'm hearing that the game is better with a group than solo which kinda sucks since I do much more solo than groups. Whats the verdict on this. Is the game solo friendly?

It is fine solo. I mean I would not want to DZ solo, well, even that is ok. The DZ has changed so that most of what you get are regular rewards. Only a few contaminated items, and.... it also is just regular junk. So skipping it or losing it is not a big deal. You can only have 5 of those before needing to extract.

As a FYI for everyone, there are named bosses that spawn in regular areas every 30 minutes or so you have been alive. So to collect playing cards you can interrupt your activities every so often and go and kill one. one of them is the top of the first big circle south of the whitehouse. Another is the museum that is on the east. You can just crosshair and see if you have a boss. If you die or kill one they disappear and timer resets.

god I love this game. they did a lot of stuff right with it.

Yes, it's pretty friendly. I mainly play solo and I've really enjoyed the game. I agree with jiminator that playing the Dark Zone solo may not be as fun, but I'm speaking from experience in Division 1 (haven't tried the DZ in Division 2 yet, other than the tutorial mission). Good idea that you waited to buy the game, as there was a bug roughly around the time it was released where your skills items would reset immediately after deployment, and you have to wait 15 seconds to attempt to use it again. It made the game harder that it should be. It's now fixed BTW -- and IMO the devs are doing a pretty good job of communicating & fixing the major issues.

Keep doing Main Missions, those Projects will stay uncompleted until you finish the first 3 Main Missions.

As mentioned by others, the game does not punish you for being solo. Of my 40 some hours, I've only gotten to play with others for maybe 10 of it. I'm GS453 with all the major content done. Now Tier 3 Control Points (unlocks at World Tier 4) and other "Challenging" and higher difficulty activities are not very solo friendly, but even with friends these are currently not easy. The scaling as your squad gets bigger seems to be a bit too much right now, but this is End Game stuff that will likely be adjusted by the time you get there. I would definitely recommend the game, hands down.

I think I'm doing things right here. I'm still level 30 and I finished all the projects and side missions. I also opened up all the Dark Zones and now finished my first stronghold which was the arena. (Forget name off top of my head.) I made sure to upgrade my crafting table and max it out the first chance I got and I was sure glad I did!

The World Tier changes don't show up until I finish these next two strongholds I see in the activity log, correct?

finishing the strongholds gets you into WT1, You then get invaded stronholds. To access each you need to raise your gearscore and do some invaded missions. Each one you finish bumps up your world tier. Do not do all the invaded missions at once.

Correct. Like Jiminator mentioned, you don't have to do them all over again each world tier however. You do two invaded missions and one stronghold per WT. They will be dark red on your map and the Stronghold will show which missions in its requirements. You can run around to any available Control Points and Vendors to find a few pieces of Gear to help increase your GS quickly, maybe do some side stuff, and then you'll get drops during the missions also. The Stronghold will have a GS requirement before you can play it. One tip: before opening Chests, always equip your highest GS items. The loot pool looks at your EQUIPPED GEAR only to determine what level it should drop at. I've tested this myself.

I think a lot of this is going to get fixed / nerfed; especially the healing Chem Launcher. Which is a shame, because I love that thing.

Some good basics on Recalibrating

Just another tip, every time you level up do a vendor sweep to see if they have blueprints you can buy. That will always be a priority. They sometimes have new ones per level/WT, often not. 3 dark zone vendors (doors next to the big gates) 3 regular vendors, 1 roaming vendor, and there may be some hidden vendors, like the one outside the whitehouse.

It may be, but capturing control points is annoying so I check them anyway

If it's the woman Vendor to the West of the main entrance to the White House (where we all spawn when we login), she has the exact same thing as the indoor Vendor. Not sure if this is a bug or intended, but even the Blueprints I've bought have been at both.

--

There are 5 secret side missions that offer Blueprints you cannot get any other way (that I've seen). Here is how to find them:

I cannot believe how much fun i have had with this game up until this point. Im 29 and a half and can't wait to mess with end game specializations....We already completed 1 stronghold and I'm the last guy in our (tiny) clan to hit 30 but I will hit it later tonight.
There still is a ton of content to complete between control points side missions and secrets, there is still a ton more to do.
