Microsoft Edge Now Available for iOS and Android

I tried Edge for about two days once adblock plus for Edge was released. Adblock would get disabled every other time I opened Edge.

I tried Chrome for a short time but was getting ads that I wouldn't get in firefox, mostly on mlb.com. In firefox I can click a highlight video and it will play with no ads. In chrome it would play a 15 second ad first. When I would click the next highlight video it would play a 15 second ad again. When you are watching 15-30 second clips a 15 second ad every time is crazy. I had adblock plus installed on both with just default config and the same list selected. When adblock was working on Edge it would act the same as Chrome with ads every time.

I think it's pretty good on the Surface. It does touchscreen support better than Chrome and Firefox.
 
I don't use it on Windows 10 unless I absolutely have to, and I won't be using it on Android or iOS ever.
 
With the advent of Firefox Quantum, Edge doesn't hold a candle. I've been running Firefox Beta on all my Android devices and I absolutely love it.

Chrome is a fucking mess, sucking up insane amounts of RAM and using tons of CPU resources on some websites. The Edge browsing experience is smoother and undoubtedly uses less resources.

That being said, I'm invested into the Google ecosystem for myself and my business (Gsuite) so I use Chrome. If Microsoft had perfect Google account syncing and app compatibility on it's apps and browser then I would probably use it as my daily driver.

I agree and use Edge every day I just sent my sony xperia xz in for warranty (overheating) and im using my old Windows phone 950XL and it is so fast its crazy its clean and uses next to no battery. I get 3 to 4 days out of this 950XL and I am lucky to get a day out of the sony. So I will test it out when i get my Sony back and see that the battery use is like and how fast it is as chrome as acting like a dog on the xperia xz.

I use Edge on my home PC and my work PC as well. I have no issues with it. At home I use a custom hosts file and Ghostery to filter out ads and social media crap.

At work I have tried Chrome several times when I was forced to and found it to be no quicker and I had trouble finding things in it. I always found it weird that even though it is still governed somewhat by the Internet Options in Windows there's no clue about that in it. They could put a link or a button here and there for opening that. Especially when a company insists on using chrome, but keeps disabling TLS 1.1 and 1.2 a few times a day. :rolleyes:
So, I found no reason to switch and so I don't feel the need to learn its ins and outs.

I just downloaded Edge for Android and it seems fine. Obviously it is not perfect, but this is the first non-beta release and Chrome is not perfect either.
Also, Edge for Android has a dark mode in the first proper release. It is a nice way to save battery. When will Chrome get this, obviously veeery hard to implement, option?
 
The fact that MS thought it was a good idea to throw Dev hours at this says a lot about their business.

Thanks for the heads up about the darkmode setting. I always had it like that when I was on Windows Mobile 10 until very recently and prefer it that way. Now it is set on my Sony Xperia XA1 with Edge. :)

Now that you mention it, I gues I haven't tried the newest Firefox on my Surface. I should try that, I guess. Nevertheless, Edge is actually pretty good for that specific use case. I kinda like it, actually.

That's because Edge is primarily a mobile browser for the desktop.

The latest Firefox Quantum is quite simply the best browser available ATM IMO.

Chrome is the best no question about it.....Firefox Quantum doesn't support user agent switcher and themes plus Chrome is faster.
Edge just needs themes it's good but only two themes that nobody likes.

In my testing on my own PC:

- Chrome is not faster.
- Theme's work fine.

I'm a Linux user and even I have no use for a user agent switcher....
