So, I just tried the newly released port of HITMAN for Linux by Feral, and I have to say that I think I'm officially done with Feral. I appreciate that they exist, but I've yet to play a single Feral port that hasn't performed at about half the level of performance I see on Windows. Now, I just want to say right now that this IS NOT an attack on Linux gaming. I play several games on Linux without any issues, but Feral ports are just awful in my experience. Not only have they tended to be buggy, but they just perform terribly. In Shadows of Mordor for instance, I can maintain a 60 fps VSYNC lock in the Windows version whereas on Linux I can barely manage to maintain 30 FPS, and on top of that the frame pacing is awful meaning that I can't even play at a "smooth" 30 FPS. The same is true for HITMAN. HITMAN and Shadows of Mordor are both perfect examples of the half-assed work I've seen put in by Feral, and I just don't think I can bring myself to support them anymore.
What have your experiences been with Feral ports?
EDIT: Also, I'd just like to ask that if you intend to enter into this thread and make stupid comments about how "gaming on Linux sucks," please don't freaking bother. I don't care what your opinion is on that, and this thread is ONLY about Feral as a developer. Please leave all flame against Linux gaming BS somewhere else. It is neither required nor desired.
