AMD Press Conference at Computex

My God that release date is just screaming "Please, just wait a little longer! It'll be good, I promise!"

Predating that with a demo showing 2 RX Vega cards at 4K does not inspire ANY confidence for tackling 1080 or 1080 Ti.

They announced thread ripper but no date. I think its given that vega will be launching with thread ripper at end of july at siggarph event.

2 gpu demo to run 4k? hummmm
July seems to be FE if I listened correctly? (because all the professionals are there)

Only thing we can hope, is I've watched it 3 times now, they never showed or mentioned the framerates on the Prey demo, could have been 4k ultra at 240

Also, My two Maxwell Titans can run Prey at 60FPS 4K.

Vega manages to get weaker every time we learn more about it.

They did not say shit about performance. You have to be stupid to think that it wont perform. Shit the frontier edition is running at 1600mhz. It looks like they are launching FE edition ahead and month later vega. Probably threadripper and vega launching together with hard launch. They are probably stacking up supply of HBM2 lol.

and my dick could be 8"

Back to school time.

that is the worst possible time tbh.

if they were smart they would do May launches.

3 months off, what are you going to do? play.

also: that threadripper with blender had 30% core usage, ONLY POSSIBLE WITH THREADRIPPER! lmao.

It's going to have been over 7 months since vega was announced by launch and still to this day 0 info on the platform they are supposed to make all the margins on according to the Financial analyst day.

Vega was never fricking announced lol! It was announced today with a set date. They never ever gave a set date for vega gaming. They are launching the frontier edition first.

People know it will perform, they care about WHEN it will perform. At this poine 1080 performance will be disappointing. If AMD sits on their ass long enough, Nvidia will just roll out Volta before they even his consumers.

The put of a fricken website for it.

Clearly you don't know what announcement is. They give a time frame. They said Vega will launch in first half. You have the FE edition coming in first half Then you have Gaming edition coming a month later. Now you can wait and bitch later if they delay it past july.

They said nothing about consumer being available a month later. They just said they would talk about it in July.

yea but we both know why it is launching later. HBM2 is ramping up this quarter. They can't launch without the memory you know. I would rather have them launch the card in decent quantity then launch now with no quantity. They are releasing the FE edition first, probably they are reserving initial inventory for the pro card.

Maybe they are stacking it to resell, because unless they leapfrog Nvidia, every potential consumer for Vega will have already brought a card.

Honestly that demo does nothing whatsoever to make me pause and wait for Vega. If AMD wanted to make me stop, give me some ballpark performance, pricing, models, or at least some goddamn framerates beyond 4k 60 fps.

4k 60 fps is already achievable, at this point AMD needs to offer better pricing than Nvidia by quite a bit to garner interest.

Dude. She clearly said gaming Vega will be launched end of July in LA! Common now.

Why does AMD keep trying this HBM2 bullshit? Keep touting it as the future and yet every time they try and release a card for it you get the "supply issues" speech. The Fury was the same shit and here we are almost 2 years later and STILL with the same old same old.

Launch = announcement

They haven't even indicated card configurations or prices. They aren't going to go "Oh here's Vega and you can buy it right now" on July 30th.

3rd time posting this... they did not say or show framerates in the Prey demo, it would have been running at 4k 3000 FPS for all we know

Lol. I have no doubt they wouldn't be launching the FE edition first if it wasn't for HBM2. They have a working silicon. Buy an FE edition if you can't wait.

I have said over and over AMD consumer GPU was not ready yet and sure enough two more months before they will even launch it and we weren't told if it will just be a paper launch or an actually street release. joy

Crossfire demo. RTG still clueless. I cant believe people at RTG think they deserve to be independent. Raja needs to stop playing with Indian actress VR fantasies and produce some competitive products on time for their existing markets.

Launch does not equal announcement. Example: threadripper announced but not launched! It was said it will launched later this summer. Looks like along with Vega. Did you miss that part?

She said it will launch not announced.

It's absolute insanity. They needed to actually show the product and they didn't. If HBM2 was the only thing holding it back they would at least give uys some sort of specs, but they are carefully dangling really awful benchmarks instead.

They were showing an high end system configuration. Thread ripper with dual vegas. What's wrong with that?

Dude you have to be stupid to not know specs now. FE edition is Vega. Jesus!

FTFY :p

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I have flip-floped between ATI (I still refuse to call it AMD) and Nvidia over the years so I am no fan boy of either.

That's the problem, we don't know. They won't tell us yet expect us to sit by and wait 2 months for what is basically almost completely unknown. They can't assure me better price/performance, they can't tell what their flagship card performs at, they can't even say Polaris, "$200 performance" blah, blah. All their words are centered around assuring the market that "we are totally not conceding the HPC and GPU compute market to Nvidia"
