Oh don't be silly, a few things will be addressed in Wildlands 2. This is Ubisoft after all.

I did the first mission or whatever I think it's a good game I turned off Bloom and some other stuff that usually drives me nuts.
I have to agree with this. It would have been infinitely better if it was like a third person Crysis so the missions are put into a large sandbox area and you can then be tacticool in that case instead of like you said in an enormous world you have to constantly drive and/or fly around. The gameplay itself is pretty fun and the controls are pretty solid, but there is big and too big when it comes to game worlds and this is too big and takes away from the overall gameplay.
This is a case in point where "open world in and of itself" isn't a guaranteed "good thing." I'd gladly make some trades to get more meat on the bones as it were.
Past that, I do find that I'm enjoying the game for what it is. It's like a Metal Gear Splinter Cell Lite situation the way I play it.
That's what I was thinking. I only dipped my toes into the game yesterday enough to benchmark it and play the first mission, but i'll go back into it this weekend. I personally loved MGS 5 and Splinter Cell so I'll give it a shot.
Quick question; since the game is open-world I have read other reviewers say that for some missions they waited until dark to play the mission so they can better sneak. Is there a way to fast-forward time like in MGS 5 where you had the Phantom Cigar? It would be nice to be able to choose what time of day I want to tackle a mission.
I really have gotten into a groove of sorts with this game and am really enjoying it for what it is.
Put it to you like this: I loved Metal Gear Phantom Pain's gameplay and I thought it set some new standards in some ways. The story didn't do anything for me.
If I view that game as a "Coke" then this is a "Diet Coke." Broadly speaking.
Couldn't put it better.
I have been playing this for what seems like a month now. HUGE game. Hopping in and out, killing Narco-Terrorists, grabbing intel, upgrading my gear, learning to fly the chopper with mouse and keyboard, dodging AA missles, taking out huge Unidad bases without being discovered, on and on and on and on... Awesome game, "for what it is".
I think what it is, is, what you make it. Everything is there for you to have fun. Up to you to have it. Are the vehicles perfect. Is the AI perfect. What game is?
Yes, I have seen the AI ignore my squad. Yes I have seen a helicopter spawn in the wrong place. Yes it has some insta-fail missions with ridiculous criteria. (sigh) But, I think some of you haven't been playing PC games long enough to complain.
This thing is an achievement. The game is huge. What works, so far outweighs what doesn't work, that it is not even funny.
I got it free and have now bought a copy from the forum and me and my son are blasting our way through Bolivia and it is a freaking blast. I am about to buy a copy for my son in Louisville so he can join us and we can have a squad of three.
I'm very iffy with it being mostly (per trailers, have not read much on it yet) focused on cruising around in ridiculous vehicles.
I can only hope if there's a second DLC down the road they get back to the good stuff.
Yeah I've enjoyed the main game, almost done with it finally and will go on some random "raids" or mission replays with the hud completely disabled once done to make it more like Ghost Recon's of old. I hope any additional DLC is focused more on that side of the game. There is enough goofiness built in already to have a good romp once in a while but I want a nice mix of Insurgency, open world and Ghost Recon. The main game is fun but not ground breaking.
Passing on this DLC though.
Turn the goodies off and try and take down a Unidad base, full stealth, no alarms, no patrol escalations. Pick one of those nasty, big F.O.Bs.
I've just started the game, not bad, but it runs like a dog. What does it take for it to run properly?
Tried switching from ultra to very high, but the difference was huge graphichally. I had to go back to ultra. But the game constantly stops to take 1-2 second naps, but it feels laggy all the time.

Pull back on shadows for starters. See what you get out of these:

What resolution are you running at? I've got a mix of ultra and very high on my 1080GTX @ 1440p and I still see dips and hitches once in awhile. Though the last couple of patches helped with that.
So after setting visibility and shadows to medium the game runs well enough for me. Didn't bother to check fps but at least it's playable.
But the damn pauses are still there. The game stops for 2-3 seconds then continues. Like it's waiting for something to load.
I get a serious feeling of lacking from the character creator. I get the feeling that more deep customization options are there under the surface somewhere just aren't accessible. Due to maybe rushing of the game. I hate that I can only choose from fixed presets and can't customize any further. I'm feeling like a parrot all the time but I still have to cite APB as an example to follow. That should every game strive to beat in terms of character customization at least.
Unfortunately the game itself is garbage, it had a lot of potential but bad matchmaking, boring missions, and lag / network code issues plagued it from the very start. I was in the closed beta for the original in 2010 (before they re-released it as FTP (P2W) as reloaded) But it didn't get much better if at all for the re-lease. And apparently now they've completely given up on it, cheaters rule the game. But the CC is still a benchmark for anyone.M76 - that APB CC is awesome! The CC is one of my fav elements of a game.
You set me off down the rabbit hole & I just DL'd - APB Reloaded (free).
Yes, I want to create a character that is unique to me, and fits my taste. So basically you just want to play Barbie Dress-Up.
I love Barbie. You got a problem w/ that?
None whatsoever.
I will never understand though how people will want to spend hours creating a character instead of just playing the game.
