Hitman is on sale on Steam right now and I do want it but the always on Internet requirement prevents me from buying it. I have to do my bit to put a stop to this practice. I boycotted Ubisoft over doing that and havn't bought a game from them in about 5 years now. Yep, just checked and Silent Hunter 5 was published in 2010 and that is the last game I bought from them. Only newer Ubisoft games I have are due to promotions that came with video card purchases. Looks like I have to add Square Enix to my boycott list. That makes three so far, Microsoft, Ubisoft and Square Enix. Welcome to the club.

I believe the game does have an offline mode, but you don't get any challenge progression and whatnot so yeah...kind of sucks.

Yea, I read that too but you also don't get to keep items you collect along the way in the game, which they did deliberately to make people use online mode so they can spy on their customers. Nope, I won't stand of it.
 
I did see ending credits/titles after I finished it so that indicates it is the last one because I never saw ending titles before.

They're going to start a Season 2 next year according to what I had read.
 
The HITMAN December Update is a mandatory update for all players and includes the Holiday Hoarders mission plus some general improvements to the game.

The headline act for our December Update is the ‘Holiday Hoarders’ mission that is coming to HITMAN in support of World Cancer Research Fund. This free mission for ALL players takes place in a festive Paris that has been overhauled with Christmas trees, snow, decorations and presents. Here’s a few words from IOI’s Studio Head, Hannes: “Cancer is something that affects everyone in one way or another at some point in their lives. Holiday Hoarders Overview

‘Holiday Hoarders’ is a free mission for all players, released in support of World Cancer Research Fund. The mission gives a festive feeling to the existing Paris location with snow, decorations and even presents, which have been scattered all around the palace. 47 can open these presents and use whatever he finds inside to help eliminate his targets; two thieves who have gained entrance to the fashion show.

- Added a new content category: Holiday Content
- Added new Holiday Content: Holiday Hoarders
- Added the 'Secret Santa' Challenge Pack
- Added the 'Santa 47' suit (unlocked by completing all of the 'Secret Santa' challenges)
- Added 3 holiday-themed items that can be obtained and used in the 'Holiday Hoarders' mission.
- Added a holiday-appropriate way to exit the 'Holiday Hoarders' mission.
Note: The 'Holiday Hoarders' mission will not feature any live content and it's not currently possible to create Contracts on this mission.

December Update Release Notes

- General Improvements
Improvement to Supersampling
Increased the quality of Supersampling filtering, to prevent the image from appearing blurry. This will affect PS4 Pro and PC.

- The Escalation Inconsistence
We've fixed an inconsistency with the names of targets in the Caden Compostion Escalation Contract.

- PS4 Pro Controller on PC
We've made sure that the game correctly recognises the new PS4 Pro Controller when it is connected to the PC version of the game.

- Pull an Enemy
In this update, we've removed the ability for 47 to pull people over balconies or out of windows, when he is hanging on a ledge or below the balcony/window. There was a known issue for this move when it was introduced in our November update. It will be re-introduced with a game update in January when it is working as intended.


Fixed Issues
- We've fixed an issue with the 'push' animation on specific NPC's in 'The Icon'
- We've fixed an issue that could cause Dalia's routine to suspend if Viktor has been killed and the fireworks have been triggered. [Showstopper]
- PC Only: We've fixed an issue that could cause an infinite loading state when using DX 12.
- PC Only: We've fixed an issue that could cause noticeable drops in framerate on GTX 770.

At this point I really have no idea why this thread isn't a lot larger. Absolution is a long gone, distant memory. IO has more than redeemed themselves at this point.




Even that wonky online/offline setup of theirs was patched out a few weeks ago. This is probably my GOTY at least tied with Dishonored 2.

Blood Money has been unseated as the king. Really. I don't say that easily.

Jump in, folks. IO has earned it. It's been nothing but fan service and great support since the word go with incredible mission and level designs.

Hitman's Landslide bonus mission out next week, 19th elusive target revealed

Sun-kissed Sapienza is easily the best level of Hitman's now concluded episodic first season—something which prompted Phil to catch up with developer IO Interactive and discover its origins thereafter. The stealth-meets-murder game's third bonus mission is set to return to the Roman coastal town this coming Tuesday, where Agent 47 is tasked with aborting a wealthy businessman's political career. And its 19th elusive target is heading for Paris.

Named 'Landslide' and due January 31, the bald butcher will head after Marco Abiatti—a rich right-wing politician with ties to organised crime who has his sights set on becoming mayor. You've to stop this from happening, basically. "Agent 47 must ensure this would-be patrician does not become mayor," publisher Square Enix reaffirms.

By making a quick jump to Paris you can also pursue Hitman's latest elusive target—Walter "The Blackmailer" Williams, an up-and-coming fashion model with a history of blackmail. The same rules as the previous 18 elusive target ventures apply in that the target is only available for a limited time, they don't appear in Instinct Mode, and failure results in immediate termination of the mission.

This particular mission's objective are two-fold: first, assassinate The Blackmailer; second, retrieve a valuable memory stick. Over to the mission briefing:

Hitman's third bonus mission Landside is due January 31, while the 19th elusive target is live now through Monday February 6 at 1pm GMT/11am PT.
 
This new Professional difficulty on all the missions is weeping and gnashing of teeth time.

The HITMAN March Update adds Chinese Language Support and other game improvements - as well as some general fixes. The update is available to download now and weighs in at approximately 1GB for PC.

We've fixed an issue that could cause the 'subdue' prompt to disappear when an NPC is picking up an item or when they are close to a wall.

Scoring Adjustment
We've fixed an issue where the 'Never Spotted' bonus was not awarded in certain cases.

Sapienza Lab
We've fixed an issue that could cause 47 to be 'spotted' in the Sapienza Lab, even whilst 'blending in'.

Hokkaido Landscape
We've fixed a rare issue that could cause 47 to fall 'out of world' in Hokkaido.

Contracts Search Favourites
The Contract Tile now displays an icon to show whether that contract has been added to 'My Favorites'

Sticky Pistol (Escalation)
We've fixed an issue where the 'Sticky Pistol' countdown would expire, despite 47 having the pistol equipped on a ledge.

The Incarnation Non-Accident
We've fixed an issue in the 'Meiko Incarnation' Escalation where dumping an NPC in a specific area would not result in an accident kill.

Disappearing Act
We've fixed an issue that could cause a holstered large weapon to be lost when activating the diorama in Paris.

Fire Safety
We've fixed an issue that could cause NPC's to teleport away when they are burning.

HDR Launcher
We've fixed an issue where the 'HDR' option could not be enabled in the game's launcher on AMD cards.

Sun Spots (HDR)
We've fixed an issue that could cause black pixels to appear around bright light sources when HDR is enabled.


Additional
We've also fixed other minor issues involving AI dialogue, audio and VO consistency, escalation completion marks and we've slightly reworded some menu text to make it more consistent.

This game is awesome. This game deserves to be much higher than Bronze level sales on Steam. This game is far removed from Absolution. This game is Blood Money's successor. All the annoying BS has been taken care of.

I don't know what else to say. Any and all Hitman fans from all time should swoop down and buy with extreme confidence. :)

Already bought it man. I played it and finished it. It was good, better than absolution. I've been gaming for 30 years, maybe my tastes have changed. I just can't get into replaying it over and over.

Horrible news. It's a great game that absolutely should have sold more than it did.

IO will have to find another publisher and they probably will. I certainly hope so.

They have already shelved Deus Ex... now this. I'm pretty bummed.

Square Enix is going to hell in a hand-basket. Not one performance patch for Nier Automata, yet they release more DLC. I have YET to be able to get through the tutorial without crashing to a white screen. The Platinum Games guys were complaining on Twitter that they haven't got paid yet. I'm on my last straw before I start ignoring all new releases from them. They are already on my shit list from the Nier Automata fiasco.

Maybe they expanded too far, too fast on a number of fronts.



I don't want to put words in mouths and such but the way that corporate letter reads to me... it isn't a shot against IO or Hitman as much as I expect to see Square Enix shed any and all endeavors that haven't been outright rocketbusters for them.

Hitman has always had nice niche sales but never lit the world on fire so who knows? Someone else may pick up IO.

What I see here, in total, is the opposite of the EA news: They had record breaking earnings...S/E (and others) haven't and didn't.

I expect to see more S/E "shedding" news in the near future.

A lot of the online stuff has been MAJORLY addressed. You can play the entire game offline and miss out on nothing basically. Skim through this thread and you can see how this game evolved.

Yes, this one of the areas where the game should have been like that all along but at least these guys took every salient criticism as things went along and adjusted accordingly which is more than I can say for a lot of others.

This is one of the best games I've played in the last several years and it certainly is a worthy successor to Blood Money and the rest of the real Hitman games which Absolution was not. (Decent game in its own right) In some ways, I think it unseated the Blood Money king.

I was hostile to the episodic concept but they made it work. I still would prefer and strongly hope if they get another game off the ground that they go back to a traditional model because it just worked against them ultimately and more than it should have.


It's a free demo. You have nothing to lose. No one does.

The HITMAN July Update improves current loading times on Xbox One, introduces some changes to combat and invites more players to try Professional Difficulty.

July Update Release Timings
The HITMAN July Update releases worldwide across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, Linux and Mac on July 13th 2017.
The update will arrive for all players between 11am and 1pm UTC. There will be a short period of server maintenance, starting at 10:30 UTC and expected to end before 14:00 UTC. We expect the download size for the July Update to be 550 MB (PS4), 950 MB (Xbox One) and 1.2GB (PC). We will post updates about the maintenance on the IOI Twitter account.

Here are the release notes for our July Update, also known as 1.12.1 as per the in-game menu.

July Update Release Notes

Xbox One Loading Times
After a recent update, Xbox One users reported to us that the game was taking longer to load than usual, especially when restarting a contract.
We've looked into this and now have the Xbox One loading times back to where they should be. Thanks to our Xbox One players who reported this.

Combat Changes
We've made some changes to combat across the game. The intended result of these changes is to make combat more satisfying and viable for all players.

Specifically, we have reduced the fire rate of NPC pistols, slightly increased how quickly 47 can 'snap' to the target NPC when 'aim assist' is toggled on, reduced the damage that 47 takes at mid to long distances and increased the speed that 47's health regenerates. We are continuing to monitor and adjust these values based on our own impressions and we're looking forward to feedback from our players when these changes go live. Please note that Professional Difficulty is not affected by these changes and still offers the 'Lethal Combat' that was promised.

Backstory: With an earlier update on June 23rd, the first iteration of our internal combat changes was unintentionally released. That first iteration simply reduced the damage output of NPC weapons and resulted in what some of our community have lovingly described as 'Tank 47'. The changes that we mention above (and will introduce with 1.12.1) are based on the combat values before the June 23rd update. This is important to mention because we want to be clear that we haven't made 47 more of a tank. Instead, we've looked at the combat experience that we've had in the game since launch and made the above changes to the long-standing values.

Professional Difficulty
We've changed the unlock criteria for Professional Difficulty from Mastery level 20 to Mastery level 5. All players that currently have Mastery level 5-19 on each location will automatically unlock Professional Difficulty after updating their game to 1.12.1 (July Update). There are no changes to Professional Difficulty other than the unlock criteria.

Excuse me, I found a weapon
We've fixed an issue that could cause guards to repeatedly drop weapons that they discovered on the ground. This issue was prominent on The Icon mission.

Bathroom Break
We've fixed an issue that could cause the toilet in the Marrakesh school to behave erratically after 47 kicks it onto Zaydan. This could occasionally result in 47's death. Seriously.

Cancelling Connecting
We've fixed an issue that could cause players to inadvertently cancel the 'connecting' prompt and enter 'Offline Mode'.

Opportunity Lost After Loading
We've fixed an issue that could cause the Opportunity Marker (the little light bulb) to disappear after a save/load cycle.

Trespassing vs Hostile Area
We've implemented a fix for a Known Issue from our June Update. The 'Trespassing' and 'Hostile Area' status messages on the mini-map now display correctly.

Maximum Mastery
We heard that some players have had issues unlocking the trophies/achievements associated with reaching Mastery level 20 in various locations. We've implemented a change so that the game will re-check whether you have reached level 20 when you launch the game and award the appropriate trophies/achievements.

Trophy Typography
We've made some necessary updates to the trophy descriptions on PS4; corrected a few typos and mistakes.

Unconscious Witness
We've also implemented a fix for the other Known Issue from our June Update. The 'Unconscious Witness' status on the mini-map is know displayed correctly.

Miscellaneous Fixes
We've fixed other minor issues across the board to keep the game in fantastic shape.

What's Next?
the Final Elusive Target will arrive in-game on Friday 14th July. Looking further ahead, we'll have an August Content Schedule set and ready with new challenges for the first week in August.

Hitman's final Season 1 Elusive Target lands tomorrow
HITMAN™



After outlining its monthly road map last week, Hitman has confirmed its 26th and final Season One Elusive Target. Starting tomorrow at 1pm BST/5am PST, the target will feature in game's Marrakesh level for ten days.

As with the other quarter century of Elusive hits, the same rules apply here: missions can't be restarted once engaged meaning you only get one shot—do not miss yer chance to blow.

Should this be your first ever Elusive Target kill in sunny Marrakesh, you'll land yourself the Summer Suit with Gloves attire. And should you earn the 'Silent Assassin' rating, your progress will count towards unlocking Agent 47's Winter Suit, although I don't imagine that's needed in Morocco.

"At this point, you'll need to have already earned 4 Silent Assassin ratings from the previous 12 ET's before starting The Entertainer to be able to unlock the prestigious Winter Suit via Elusive Targets," says IO via an update post. The following still shows off what's required to ascertain specific rewards.



According to the above-linked post, Elusive Target number 26 has two central objectives: Eliminate Mr Giggles, and locate and acquire the Client List. Good luck when the time comes.

I thought the series was done for.....I might have to pick it up....should of picked it up during the Steamsale if anything.

Nice looking game waiting around for the NPCs can be tediouis but it's pacing at it's best finished both missions for the training I wanted to drown the guy in the toliet but had no idea when he was going to goto the bathroom.

Lol, I know for a fact you can drown both the first mission guys in the toilet and probably half of the future episodes, possibly all. You can usually get them to go to the bathroom with poison. Good luck with Paris, I remember being overwhelmed by it and felt really made the game feel more challenging than previous Hitman games. Though now since I've experienced the game it is probably the easiest of the episodes after the training exercises.

Been playing through this game slowly, I think I have finished 3 episodes. I got it on sale as well. It is fun for sure but you can get a little twisted thinking about all the different ways to take out targets. Adds for replay value. I just wish the gun play was better for when you do all the stealth options and just want to go in guns blazing. Gun play has never been great in Hitman though
