They sure do put a ridiculous amount of sharpening filter on screenshots these days. I guess you can get that with SweetFX in reality, but often in motion it doesn't look as good as in a screenshot.

Gotta say taht I am looking forward to it. Not as much as Deus Ex but it will prolly be fun.

This and Mankind Divided are my next 2 most anticipated games. Still looking forward to Blood and Wine too; lots of good stuff this year.

Wonderful - thanks for all the gameplay embedded videos. Bethesda is going nuts with coverage so there's a lot of noise, #BE3 and all that crap.

I'm looking forward to Dishonored 2 but not that excited.

I never really finished the first game and at this point it is looking pretty dated. I might try to swing back to it at some point but I also may just wait for the sequel. :p

I enjoyed the first game but also thought people went a bit overboard in their praise of it...I liked the art style most...good game but nothing groundbreaking...looking forward to Dishonored 2

I am. Having this and a new Deus Ex game in the same year is a great news for me.
All fine and good. As much as I enjoyed the first Dishonored, it was no where near the level that Deus Ex gave me. That's just me though.

Also not sure I like teh whole voice acting thing too much. I never liked the silent protag that Corvo was, but iunno. Feels a bit weird to go out of it. A little, at least.

Agreed.

To be more specific: I, too, considered DX superior to the first Dishonored and I'll be surprised if that trend doesn't hold. Quirks and all, I just liked Dishonored a lot for what it was...I'm just big into any of these types of games. Heck, I liked that Thief reboot that was done not too long ago. It wasn't perfect but it did some things right.

I played both DX:HR and Dishonored to death. I played both of them in similar fashions (100% non-lethal stealth, 100% all-out killing machine, and a mix of the two) and Dishonored was a lot more fluid. Adam Jensen felt very much like a tank - I could never get as mobile as I wanted to. Corvo/Daud both felt fluid and you could use sprint/blink/slide to cut through a map in no time. It looks like they threw in a lot more things (check out that ability/weapon wheel) but some may be overly gimmicky... too early to tell. DX:MD seems to make it easier to traverse the environment but for the most part Jensen's character is still going to be trudging through the levels.

Imagine if you mixed the best qualities of both games. ;)

Yeah... I do think they tried to make DX:MD a bit more fluid but I'm not sold. The third-person camera shift when you go into cover was a bit jarring (and still is), as is the way they showed off the Icarus dash or whatever it's called.

It would be cool if they give us some menu options to adjust any of that.

Personally, I would've liked it if MD had 3r person like MassEffect/Gears of War did theirs but I'm not 100 % sure if it would work well. That said I didn't mind the way they did it in HR. The motion isn't as fluid as Dishonored but it was at a level that I wouldn't complain.

Thinking about that... actually, isn't it weird as shit, that Bethesda is known for shittily programmed game but then did a damn good job with Dishonored and Doom? I know i wasn't the same team/devs but still.

Yeah Bethesda the publisher is different from Bethesda as the main dev studio.

Honestly I was surprised not to see this thread at the top of the first page. This game is one of my most anticipated for this year (alongside Deus Ex: Mankind Divided) and seemingly many other's. The E3 show had some nice teasers and heaps of gameplay footage.

Did anyone else notice Delilah Copperspoon in the final trailer? I'm going to spoiler tag the rest just in case someone has not played the DLC for Dishonored 1.

At the end of the Brigmore Witches, you have the choice to trap Delilah in the Void, or kill her. This means they are either taking our save games into account (which I doubt) and she is your Nemesis if you finished with Low Chaos. OR they are treating her entrapment in the Void as Canon and she has found a way to escape.

In the show Harvey said "an other-wordly usurper siezes the throne" causing Emily and Corvo to flee Dunwall. I believe this to be Delilah. According to the first game, Jessamine kaldwin and Delilah were friends as children, but were caught in some "prohibited activity". Delialah was whipped and her mother fired, while Jessamine was not punished at all. This changed Delilah's life. Now I believe she is trying to complete her revenge against Jessamine by destroying her daughter Emily, and her lover Corvo. I get the impression the footage including her is end game, when we return to Dunwall to reclaim the throne, though that seems a bit spoilerish for Arkane to include. Nonetheless, it appears to me she will once again be the main antagonist in a 'once and for all' kind of fight. I think the final game will be against the Outsider, but that discussion is for another day

Nice find and good thoughts. That could all very well be.

I did low chaos playthroughs on Dishonored and its DLC so that will mean something to me. Apparently you can play as both Corvo and Emily so that's going to guarantee replay value right there. I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm interested to see how they handle making Corvo talk. It's a big flip from silent protagonist to a chatty Kathy :)

Agreed. I would think they would go more sparingly with his commentary, being the older, more "seasoned" vet... but who knows. Even the tone of his voice would be different from the bitter, hateful man a high chaos character would end up being, to a mature, worked through it, low chaos character. So it will be intriguing to hear how they balance that.

This game presents 4 distinct playthroughs, a high and low chaos run for each Emily and Corvo, not including the typical "this is my 'Canon' run" many finish up with. I know I've been through Dishonored 1 at least 5 times on PC and twice more on PS4, so I'm looking forward to this release and its inevitable DLC.

Tragically I don't know when I will actually have time to play this given the extent of backlog. I'm only 21 hours into Witcher 3, that and the expansions may well take me another 6 months to finish.

I liked the first game but thought it was a bit over-rated...the art style was probably my favorite part...this looks better so I'm hoping they refined and improved the gameplay...

I might've agreed more if it weren't for the fact that I watched speed runs for it. While, there are definitely glitches exploited, but there is also a lot of just using the different paths given to you that I didn't really even think about. Of course, it 's not the greatest game in the world, but it was definitely a pretty damn good game.

For a freshman release, it was an excellent game. Not without flaws for sure, but I know veteran studios who haven't put out a game as good as Dishonored in a decade or more.

I'd forgotten this game was coming. Should be a fun distraction this holiday season. Assuming they delay it a bit (par for the course, especially on PC) we should still see it by Christmas.

I can't wait for this game actually. Something about the way that Arkane handles first person melee combat just feels good. Their stealth isn't bad either, but they do the combat very well. Dark Messiah had good melee combat too. They're a good studio. One of the reasons that unlike everyone else, I'm looking forward to the new Prey. It may not have anything to do with the old one, which is a little sad, but I know they'll make a good game out of it either way.

As far as the comparison to Deus Ex here. There is more than enough room for both, and they come out months apart. I like the pseudo period-piece style of Dishonored, but I'm also a huge Cyberpunk fan. They are two very different things, so other than stealth mechanics, and being action/fps/rpgs, they're pretty different. Definitely wouldn't want to deprive myself of one or the other.

I'm right there with you. This and the new Deus Ex game are huge for me.

I just realized how close Deus Ex is to release. 8/23 seemed a ways off still, but it's really only a week and a half out. :D

Sorry, I realize this is the D2 thread. :D
