It's part of Microsoft's "Play Anywhere" business strategy, where buying a game once for Xbox ONE or Windows 10 allows you to play it on both platforms.Huh, wonder if this is at all related to the Forza beta currently in the Windows Store. Been playing that a bit here and there.
Though last I played it (3-4 days ago) it was looking for a very specific driver and complained that I wasn't running it. (was running a higher version than what it was looking for)
I haven't heard of anything else being cross purchase other than the quantum break preorder. But I would love for that to become the norm
Forza finally coming to pc!
Windows 10 only
Fuck you MS.
If that holds true, that will be down right awesome. I can't always use my Xbox, and I cant always use the PC, and with some games I outright question which platform will provide a more enjoyable experience. This solves all those issues. All Play Anywhere games are going to be cross-buy. All of MS' first-party titles shown at E3 are Play Anywhere titles. So Gears 4, Dead Rising 4, Sea of Thieves, this game, Scalebound, and so on will have cross-buy and cross-save. Some (maybe all?) will also have cross-play.

Hopefully the fan boys for both platforms wont ruin it for the rest.of us
Na once MS said they would bring all their exclusives to PC i knew it was just another ploy to get people to upgrade to 10. I dont want 10 even if its free. You like complaining about Win10 or are you genuinely surprised? Still can get a free upgrade for another 30+ days.
Its really not that serious. just get windows 10. Are you still using xp?Na once MS said they would bring all their exclusives to PC i knew it was just another ploy to get people to upgrade to 10. I dont want 10 even if its free.

Nope im on 7. I dont like the look of 10 or its extra "features". Why upgrade to it when 7 does everything i need it to do. Even if i had 10 i still wouldnt get these games because you have to use their crappy store to play it. Having steam, origin, uplay is already enough, i dont need another damn platform to play games on.Its really not that serious. just get windows 10. Are you still using xp?
Not even the platform which is by the company that made the OS??? hmmmmmNope im on 7. I dont like the look of 10 or its extra "features". Why upgrade to it when 7 does everything i need it to do. Or because the new things aren't better at all in most cases way worse. Most changes are for sake of change. Something like having windows updates being linked to your game updates is completely fucking retarded.^^^^ EXACTLY the type of person I expected to eventually post in this thread. They complain and rant about Microsoft, but the same reason they haven't switched to 'nix/IOS is the same reason they refuse to upgrade to 10 - because they can't learn new things.

Yall act like i havent tried it, i have. I used the free upgrade on my laptop just to try it out and i dont really like the "flat" look and the extra addons like the store (which i would never use besides MS games), cortana , MetroUI, and the tiles are all useless to me. Windows 7 does exactly what i need my PC to do. Play music, games, porn, browse the web, music production, etc. And Win 10 offers nothing more that i need to upgrade to it. Im just a little irked that for years and years PC gamers asked for forza and other MS titles to come to PC and MS just blew us off untill they realized another way they can get people to move to Win 10 and thats offer all the newest titles on XB1 and PC. "MS loves pc gamers guys!"Not to get on you nvgrim but I thought we were past the days of people not liking the latest M$ os since vista. I work for the state, and the only reason why we delay using the latest OS's is because of compatibility issues with our legacy software. So currently our standard is windows 7. And we have a few boxes with xp, strictly because of these special software that will play nice with our new images/hardware/os's. Being a techy person, i always want the latest and newest, and also i get paid to know how to use and navigate it.
Is there a technical reason a UWP wrapped program could not run on win7/DX11? I thought there was some fundamental changes to the APIs and hardware calls that allowed UWP to work in the first place.

I dont own an XB1 so play anywhere doesnt help me. The thing is they could have release these games on steam years ago but now that they have a dumbass store built into their new OS they saw another way to get people to jump on aboard to Win 10. I never asked them to give away games for free, i would have gladly paid $60 for forza if it was released on steam. MS is trying to play catch up to the digital purchase store and its too late because if there is a game on steam and the win 10 store no one is going to buy the Win store version.UWP doesn't work on anything less than Windows 10:
Develop apps for the Universal Windows Platform (UWP)
People saying MS should bring Play Anywhere titles to anything less than W10 have no idea what they are talking about because it's simply not possible. The foundations that make Play Anywhere a possibility do not exist in versions of Windows before 10.
If Play Anywhere isn't reason enough for gamers to upgrade to W10, I have no idea what else Microsoft could even do, short of simply giving the games away for free to anyone with W10. It's a big deal to be able to buy games on XB1 and play them on PC, or vice-versa. AFAIK, Valve is the only other company to do this recently, with the PS3 version of Portal 2.
Cool. Then do what i do and dual boot Windows 10 for the game. I use windows 10 for playing Forza 6 Apex only. I boot back to windows 7 for everything else because they eliminated stuff i need thats in windows 7.Nope im on 7. I dont like the look of 10 or its extra "features". Forza has been out for a while and so has GoW, yet they never came to pc untill Win 10 store was created.Years ago? These are flagship titles for the XB1. It's already a huge concession that they're coming to PC at all. Expecting them to come to PC first, years ahead of an XB1 launch is just moronic.
I haven't used the Windows Store that much, but in my experience, it's not that bad. Certainly not bad enough that I would want to pay $60 for a game on Steam if I could get it for free from the Windows Store...
In any case, I don't see how this any part of this is negative for Forza. PC gamers are going to get a Forza game at launch that's the same as the XB1 version, and that's awesome.
Yes, i mentioned it in the console gaming thread a few weeks back. M$ has been allowing this for years, even back to the 360. Every digital purchase (even xbox live gold subscriptions) comes with two licenses (console, and user). The console license allows anyone playing on that console to play that game with their xbox own live account. The user license allows the owner of that game to play the game on any console as long as they are logged in. So in my home my sons xb1 in his room is my home console. So any digital purchase i make, he can play using his xbox live tag. Also he can play online because my gold account is tied to that console. So i dont have to pay for two live gold subscriptions.really?! you can purchase the game once but use it on two different consoles with two different accounts logged in? that's news to me and if so that is pretty damn cool!

You are missing my point, the forza franchise has been out before even Win 7 and for every iteration of the game people asked for a pc version, they even showed a demo of dx 11 or 12 years ago with forza as the demo on pc so it's not like it couldn't have been done. They probably never planned to release them on pc untill they realized if they release them only on their store people would have another reason to move to Win 10. Its whatever doesn't really both me since the last few forza's haven't been that great due to microtransactions. Forza 3 is still the best.UWP didn't exist before Windows 10. The store has been around since Windows 8 without any significant changes. It's not the store that makes any of this possible, it's UWP.
