Just getting into the game to see how it is going to run and where exactly we can put some benchmark runthroughs together, and I have to say I am having a good time. I am running 4K with most bells and whistles turned on with a TITAN X SLI rig and while sometimes it will dip into the 30s, it still feel tremendously smooth. I think I have to start seeing sub-20 frames before gameplay gets really chunky and that has only happened a couple of times and just for a second or two.

Talked to a guy earlier who was hitting 110 FPS avg. on max settings at 1080P with a Fury X @ 1050MHz @ 63C. Not bad at all and looked great.

just loaded it up to ooh & ahh at everything. looks great, runs great!! just needs raw mouse input option & we are good to go

Unpacking now on steam.

Curious to see how my setup ( in my sig ) runs @ 1920x1080 on Ultra

I can't run the game at all. Evga 980 Ti x3 in SLI on a 21:9 ultrawide monitor and the game runs in slow motion. Disabled and turned down ALL the settings and still the same thing. Even tried running it in windowed mode and that yielded bupkiss.

Just played through the first 10-15 minutes, ran excellent on ultra. Had the FPS counter enabled, ran really smooth, anywhere from 45-70fps. Probably dipped just slightly while in that first bit of craziness but none the less, very enjoyable smooth. Didn't hinder gameplay at all.

That sounds like an issue with SLI. Maybe disable one card or both and see what happens. A single 980Ti should run that pretty good at low settings for sure. Sounds like a driver bug.

Played for over an hour, and it was so much fun!
All of the settings remind me of DOOM 3, yet the gameplay brings the classic DOOM back to life at the same time.

The game can easily be maxed on a 980Ti at 1920x1080 (2k monitor arrives tomorrow!), but still, it should run very well on even a 970 or 980 easily; VRAM will probably be the limiting factor on upper settings.
I've actually heard some of them are locked unless more than 5GB of VRAM is present, but don't quote me on that. ;)

Found both of the DOOM Marine figures in the first area, too; have to say, I like the upgrade system and bonuses.
Can't wait to see [H]ard's review on this! ^_^

I am playing on Ultra Violence and it is a friggin whirlwind of shit......really awesome. Once you upgrade the shotgun to the explosive rounds, which pretty much makes it a grenade launcher, the gunplay gets a lot different. I brought up the developer console and it marked my save game as cheating and turned off achievements, so beware.

definitely. the game ready driver for team green isnt out yet. the game will still run well on one 980ti...hell, it runs well on my 7970!
Running SLI right now with 365.10 WHQL driver with no issues. I wonder if it may be a Tri-SLI issue.

i was wondering right after i posted...ive heard other reports of 2x SLI working fine on the latest WHQL. hopefully nvidia sorts it out tomorrow

I hate you all!!! (just kidding) im super jealous. I have to work 11 days in a row and I REALLY want to get into some SP doom. I bought a ATI X800 XT back in the day JUST for doom 3 (I blame Kyle).

Does it at least have that old doom feel to it? I was worried it might be too halo/cod ish (SP of course)

From what I saw, it plays like Brutal Doom, which is a good GOOD thing.

I think tri sli is the issue. Disabled SLi like you recommended and it runs nicely with everything cranked up to ultra and nightmare setting. The in game fps counter says that my max GPU FPS is 16 but the game runs nice and smooth.

Hey Kyle, since I'm running a similar setup, but don't want to waste my money on the game until I'm sure: can you tell me if disabling SLI results in lower framerates? Another [H]ard member was saying they found no performance difference enabling or disabling SLI, but that was on 980s I believe. I would hate to have one of my Titan's twiddling its thumbs, moreso I would hate to give money to a developer that ignores Multi-card configs.
Ok, just did a quick check and yes SLI is working, however it is not scaling terribly well. One spot on an open map, static scene, I was getting 38 with no SLI and 47 with SLI. Good scaling, not great though. But SLI is working.

Night, hitting the rack.

Played through the first mission and had a blast. Tried some freeze tag and it was ok. MP isn't thrilling me, but I don't hate it.

Excitedpants... these comparisons to older games got me very excited, more so than any review could. Gosh I need to buy and whore this down on a fibre connection. 1000bps don't cut it 'looks at new zealand government/telco monopoly disapprovingly'...

Any CFX testing? If SLI scales that poorly then it'll be interesting to see how team red does.

Wish I could play it but I've gotta work the next 4 days so it'll be a while before I get to, at least for any length of time. Can't wait tho

I have the collector's edition ready for my at best buy but I'm buying a house at the end of the month and my Internet is turned off until June 10th and my computer is packed away. Fuck I want to play this so bad.

what is the best option for this?
PC
PS4
X-Bone

That must be a trick question for around here.;) Just downloaded and played a few minutes. Seems to run decently on my aging i7-980x 3x 680 system. I'll be upgrading sometime this year but the SP is perfectly playable and looks decent at 1080P.

Graphics options really make this game a [H]'ers dream come true. Can't comment on the depth of the campaign as I was only able to play about 45 minutes last night. Looks nice so far at 1080p on my setup. I had to scale down what I think the "internal rendered resolution" is to about 80% to get the game silky smooth, thought it would look like @$$ in doing so, but still really beautiful.

For the $33 I spent on it totally worth it to bring back those old Doom feels. Funny it's like deja vu come back here to [H]ardOCP to talk about Doom and PC hardware.

I dont get to play many games nowadays, so CDN$80 feels like a lot. May look for sales some time down the road. Looks awesome though.

DLGamer is selling it 20% off and activates on Steam. I've been having trouble getting a transaction to go through and their support has been unresponsive, so try at your own risk.

Just played through E1M1. Running a 980 Ti with a 3440x1440 display, and if it dropped below 60fps on ultra with 8x AA, I didn't notice.

I haven't tried MP at all. If E1M1 is any indication, then the SP campaign alone is worth it. The game is GREAT! I thought the gore kills would slow down gameplay but they do not at all and I think they add something fun to the game. Maps are good, monster AI is good, and no bugs encountered so far. Music and sound effects are great.

Upgrading the shotgun to the explosive shot changed the dynamic of that gun, so I hope there will be similar upgrades that change up the other weapons.

Bah, off to work now.

I think it might finally be time for an upgrade. My gt760m just ins't cutting it anymore.

Game running great, story and mechanics seem to be getting off to a very good start. Many graphic options, the game looks beautiful. Excited to see where this goes.

Thank you for posting this. I was on the fence about it due to concerns about it running at 3440X1440, let alone well. Can't wait to get home and start playing it.
