Star Wars: Battlefront Reboot

That really is a nonsense reason to exclude a very basic feature for all MP games. We all know very well that DICE's interpolation does a pretty good job of covering up the shit netcode and the fact that the matchmaking is probably routing us to slow servers on the other side of the country.

I was being sarcastic but you don't need numbers to show you how a game feels...the numbers shouldn't override the feel of the game...just like the 60 fps people who probably wouldn't notice a difference if they were playing at 50 fps but they use the numbers to justify their outrage...if you let the numbers dictate your decisions then your perceptions change

I would of added a Tan tan riding with lightsabers some snow pit traps just some elements besides what you see in the game. Just to make it less of a Run and Shoot game...

WOW WOW WOW.........

What a colossal, epic piece of S H I T this game is.

Rebels get ass raped non stop. No server browser is complete bullshit. No minimap, squads, or anything = just a giant cluster fuck of COD fucktards running around.

This game has no life or soul. As everyone else said it is just a dumbed down arcade shooting for 8 year olds.

Fuck. This.

Fuck you EA, you made another pretty piece of Titanfall like shit.

LOL I worried about it having that Hollow Titanfall feel to it....

Game graphics are impressive, but I agree with may others. The game lacks substance.

The matchmaking process is disappointing, The run & gun gets boring. While there are objectives, it lacked teamwork to achieve objectives. I get defending pods and all but didn't feel the same as other games.

I don't think I'll buy it at full price. I'll wait for a black friday deal or something. I'd consider paying $49, but not $69.

I didn't experience any lag on game play on my system. My Specs:

i7 3770k, 16GB RAM, GTX 660Ti SLI 6GB VRAM.

Lets be honest, as adults,, we prolly expected more out of this. When i played it lat night, it was fun. Just straight up fun. I didnt have to worry about being a stat whore or anything like that, just run and gun. Find an objective and play it.
As an adult, would i buy it? No, its not my type of game. This compared to hardline, is what hardline is to bf4. A casual Dice game.
But am i buying this? I have no choice, yes. My son loves this. And this is what DICE wants, to appeal to the masses. They would not let a star wars brand flop (financially/sales) on their watch. Make it casual, user friendly and market the shit out of this.

Sat down and played Hoth this morning man I'd be way more excited if this wasn't like 30 days out. Hoth is pretty, but like I said before I'm just not a part of the crowd that was clamoring for a Star Wars Rollercoaster. Im in the group that was more excited about DICE doing it, this is about as far as you can get from a DICE game.

This just feels like an On rails star wars experience, while the original Battlefront was obviously inferior it suffered for the exact same reason - "Ok I saw everything at disney world whats next?".

Now the big advantage of this one is that its going to have all the BF unlocks to keep people playing a bit longer but thats just not enough to sell me.

This is cute though, I'm having fun. Not like real money fun but fun. I know its just the beta but the upgrades are ridiculous in curve, I'm assuming itll be much different when they unlock everything.

The power ups and Jedi stuff is the main deal breaker for me, maybe theres a way they could have implemented it to please me but not in any way I can think of.

Honestly, I like it. It's the kind of game I can just kind of tune out and play, no need to worry about my K/D ratio, stats, whatever. It feels like the other Battlefront games in a lot of ways, which is a good thing, in my opinion. It harkens back to a simpler time, and I just think it's straight-up fun. Sure, the laser spread at distance is annoying, and Hoth is pretty imbalanced at the moment (though in most games where I was on Rebels, we destroyed 1 walker and got one below 15% heatlh pretty much every time.) It's just that last push that's killing us.

playing these 3 maps makes me wish this game did have a single player after all...I just played the Tatooine map and the graphics bar keeps getting raised...that mode is actually the easiest and most boring but those rock textures are incredible...RAGE had some good ones but not like this

people keep posting that they are surprised this is not more like Battlefield...wasn't this known forever?...it was never meant to be...BF4 is coming out next year...this is a Star Wars playground plain and simple...DICE succeeded in delivering the game SW fans have wanted (for the most part)...this wouldn't work as well as a BF style game...I'm sure the game will sell millions...most other forums I visit have been more impressed then [H] as far as the beta exceeding their expectations

As I do recall in Star Wars history, the Battle of Hoth, was in fact, in favor of the Imperials due to a heavy raid on the rebels base. The Imperials won this battle.

I am pretty sure that Dice made that mode to favor one side, to make it seem real. The rebels just don't have anything but air support that can match the power of the ATATs and AT-STs. Having balance between the two(on this exact battle), would technically be inaccurate. Just saying....
I believe in order to have the Rebels win(for this map/mode), would take coordination and not just "Casual" pub play.

I expect the other modes to have a different usual outcome though.

This game seems highly optimized to be looking this good with such low system requirements. Great surprise and great fun, I like it! :)

What I'm wondering is; how can some people classify this game as a FPS, when it's clearly more beneficial to to be in third person and literally never use the iron sights?

I find for spraying and praying, yes third person is the way to go. Precision wise, first person is way better.

I don't think balancing the map to favor imperial automatically because 'that's how it was in the movies' is a great idea. If being rooted in canon was important, you would not have Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader force bunny hopping all over the damned map and waving sabers about.

Wow - Again echos of the past - in Starwars Battlefront I and II where very much 3rd person oriented (I prefer 1st Person, my 3 Sons prefer 3rd person)

Where are all the Battlefront defenders, which only 2 weeks ago where worried this game wouldn't be anything like Battlefront I and II - sounds like DICE listened..

As usual, the PC gaming community is never happy (Damned if you do, Damned if you don't I guess)

Im glad they did some things right that I don't understand why people are complaining about 'gunplay' or hero's. I guess they never played a battle front game before. Though this game has been simplified even more the the old battlefront games with less players, classes and has some outright awful design decisions.

Too many opinions from bf4 fan boys though. They seriously think battlefield is more 'hardcore' then cod when it really hasn't been since bf3.

I like that it stays truer to the original battlefront games. Battlefront is supposed to be a third person shooter, really. It's not supposed to be BF4 with a new skin. That's fine.

However, that's no excuse for the poor gunplay.

I agree. Take out the Star Wars license and this is a dead thread a fraction of its present size.

I don't see a difference in this game. Third person is better in this so you can see more of the battle field around you. Other than that, aiming feels the same 1st or 3rd.

+1 Exactly! This is very much a Battlefront game!

I agree with your point about canon, however, for a rewarding gameplay experience, getting that boot shoved up your backside every time you get thrown on the Rebel team, isn't my idea of a good time.

Side note yesterday a little after launch I saw at a minimum 3-5 people kicked and banned per game by fairplay. It was both amusing and saddening. This went on for the first couple of hours after the launch and now I hardly see any bans.

I'm seeing that on a regular basis...what is that?...is that the DICE anti-cheat service?

Kicked and banned for what?

Rebels winning Hoth is almost 100% dependent on getting one tow cable kill on the AT-AT with an airspeeder. If you have someone that can consistently get tow cable kills, it's an easy map for rebels. I think as the game progresses and more people become familiar with the mechanics there, it will favor the empire up until the end. Of course, once people figure out to shoot the airspeeders to reset them, this will be harder to pull off.

This.

I won two matches already for the rebels by doing this.
As easy as flying is in this game, it shouldn't be too hard after a few tries, just gotta figure it out.

On topic though, the AT-ST is utter shit. Id rather use the enclosed turret. Way more accurate, and it does some serious damage.
The ATAT on the other hand is seriously OP.
Which it should be. It's quite fun blasting a dozen plus rebels in the matter of a few moments.

I actually had more fun than I thought I would. This game is more for fun than a serious FPS. A few things though I wish they would address is the mouse sensitivity and improve on the hit markers and when get a kill. Often I wasn't sure if I was credited with the kill.

I'm having a lot of trouble flying. I was reasonably good at helis in BF4, so I figured this would be a cinch. But, I cannot compete with KB+M or a controller. I don't even bother getting into the cockpit. Using mouse, it's just constant pick up and slide to try and turn a circle tight enough to not get shot by an enemy fighter. Using controller, it's awkward since the control scheme is not intuitive to me, and it ends up just being who can turn a tighter circle.

you can adjust Mouse 'Soldier Sensitivity' and 'Vehicle Sensitivity' in the settings...default was bad...I also adjusted the FOV (vertical)

Orbital strike. Find one and don't use it until the shields are down (you can die and still have it available)

Had a match last night where we aced one AT-AT in 5 seconds and with the strike and concentrated fire and brought the other down to 31% in the first stage. Getting the fighters to be on target with bombs and blaster fire is a huge help, too.

Doesn't change the fact that unless you're the guy doing the cabling, you're going to have a shitty time getting spawned in the line of fire of AT-ST's over and over on that map. Sure, winning is great, but I want to have a good time when I play more than anything else. The spawn system is a complete joke.

If this is what previous Battlefront games were like, then I guess I'm glad I never played them. The only good thing I can say about this game is that it looks good. It doesn't look *amazing*, but it looks really good...but that's it. Everything about the gameplay sucks. The unlock system is stupid, gating what should be basic gameplay elements behind credits and rank. The gunplay is sloppy and based almost entirely on spread. The "bullet" velocity is laughably slow. Getting hit/hitting another player has no impact to it. The random powerup system is annoying - Maybe you get something useful, maybe not, who knows! The way vehicles and their spawning works in general is something I still don't understand...is it just powerups? Do they just spawn randomly? The spawn system is moronic, giving you no choice about where you spawn and leaving whether you die instantly to an AT-ST or not completely up to random chance.

If some of you are having fun playing then by all means, buy the game and enjoy it. I'm not trying to tell anyone else not to buy this game if they've already decided they like it. But, as another poster in this thread pointed out, it feels like a lot of the fans are taking these criticisms personally. Some of us don't like this game, and we seem to have pretty similar complaints. I sent a message to my friend yesterday with my list of first-impressions and when I checked this thread afterwards, almost everyone had said the same thing I already did - looks good, sounds good, looks like Star Wars, gameplay generally feels crappy for a variety of reasons(primarily gunplay and the spawn system).

Nice idea. I'll try that next time.

Right on man. It's not for everyone. The only thing I have a little pet peeve with, is the fact that some of you had different expectations, yet haven't played the first two Battlefronts, If you did, I'd say your expectations would have been a lot different.

Well consider that there's probably a LOT of people who haven't played the first two Battlefronts, and they might be curious to know what fans of other shooters have to say about this game. Second, consider that games ought to evolve and change over time otherwise all you're doing is getting upgraded graphics. Third, when it comes to something like the spawn system I really don't think it matters what the original Battlefront games were like...if your spawn system is a turd then your spawn system is a turd.

Really? I find the AT-ST ridiculous once I got used to the angle the gun fired. The grenade launcher and missile have really low cooldowns. The grenades are great for wiping out groups hiding behind stuff. The missiles can even go after air targets. I find I can usually rack up around 10-15 kills before I go down. I feel like most of my kills come from the grenades though.

I did play the previous Battlefront games and this is pretty much what I expected although it's been forever since I played them. And I agree the spawn system is stupid. It's chaotic, on Rebels it seems no matter where I spawn after the start, I'm surrounded.

All in all, I'm having fun with the game, but I don't feel like I'm having $60 worth of fun. The other problem I have is 2 games I want come out Nov 10th so not sure if there will be room for this one for a while.

someone on another forum mentioned the possibility of them unlocking the Endor Drop Zone map before the beta is over...that would be nice
