Well Avalanche made Just Cause 2, so I'm probably most interested in the openworld sandbox aspect.

IGN with some more details. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/03/new-mad-max-gameplay-details-emerge

  • You can travel beyond the borders and limits of the in-game map to The Big Nothing, a volatile area of the wasteland where no food or water is present and consumed by dangerous sandstorms. If you can survive a few seconds in the area you'll sometimes find rare parts for your car.
  • Within the Wasteland you'll need food and water to replenish Max's health and both are scarce. Avalanche point out to try looking in the sky for circling birds, this usually means there could be something dead and decomposing they're flying over which means...maggots. They're a good source of protein for Max and you can consume rodents for health too.
  • While food and water are scarce fuel isn't. From Emil Krafting, senior game designer: "We want resources to be scarce, but we also want a car game, we want to drive a lot and so on. So gas can’t be super scarce, because otherwise it would be a walking game instead of a driving game,”.
  • On foot hand to hand combat still feels like the Batman: Arkham games. Rhythmic button presses, counter-attacks, and being able to roll or dodge attacks.
  • You have access to your Garage from the pause menu allowing you to upgrade your car on the fly. The original plan was to have Garages scattered across the Wasteland but Avalanche felt it interfered with gameplay.
  • You meet Max's companion, Chumbucket, fairly early in the game and rides along with you in the Magnum Opus wielding a harpoon gun. He can use the harpoon gun to rip off tires and other parts on enemy vehicles, pull enemies out of the drivers seat and even use to impale enemies on foot.

I started to get a little worried about this one since they've been so guarded with showing anything beyond concept art and obscure screenshots, but this looks killer. Thank god they dropped the 360 and PS3 during development.

Love any kind of desert/Wasteland loot & wander.. The driving is just a bonus. And the addition of Batman/Shadow of Mordor inspired combat looks like it'll fit the bill nicely.

This game looks interesting. It could be really good or really, really bad. Lets hope for the former.

It reminds me a bit of Shadow of Mordor with the combat and that isn't a bad thing. The trailer has me more interested than I was from the original announcement.

Well Avalanche made Just Cause 2, so I'm probably most interested in the openworld sandbox aspect.

Their involvement and dropping the last gen consoles from the development has me feeling good about this.

I'm not expecting something that reinvents the wheel but if I get another dark horse gem like Shadow of Mordor was for me then I'll be thrilled.

They certainly got my attention with that trailer.

Still can't believe it's coming out this year. Figured it would have been next year with what little detail about the game they've released thus far.

This game look real good. I wonder if the fight is going to be as good as Shadow of Mordor.

I wasn't interested until the trailer. I think Avalanche may just pull it off. The combat seems brutal and gritty which I like. Hopefully they do a good job on the PC version.

The reviews for the movie are off the charts. Let's hope the videogame lives up to it!

you dig in and gobble gobble! like timothy treadwell and a bear but you get to be the bear in the game :D every year i search for that damn audio!

He was sponsored to do some promotion for the movie / game which lasted all of 15 seconds I think. I was under the impression we were going to get a preview. Sorry about that.

all these new titles are requiring 2GB VRAM cards at a minimum...my old GTX 580 wouldn't have been able to handle anything...good thing I got a 970 late last year

PSA: the game is up at greenmangaming for $29 (in the VIP section). It's obviously a preorder, but just in case someone wants to jump onto the bandwagon, there it is.

Want to jump on this but I have to get some reviews/impressions first. This game could be really good or really bad.

But $29 is $29.....

releasing on the same day as Phantom Pain so no chance I'll get it on Day 1...will read some reviews and determine if it's worth a look during a future Steam sale

Same. Even if it wasn't the same day as MGSV I'd wait. WB will never get another cent of my money before release.

I agree with you in that I wouldn't be buying this game on Day 1 even if it didn't fall on the same day as Phantom Pain...it looks good but even as a Mad Max fan it doesn't scream 'must buy Day 1' to me (especially for $60)

as far as WB, I know it's been discussed in the Arkham Knight thread but I don't blame WB as much as Rocksteady/Iron Galaxy...the developers should always take the brunt of criticism when it comes to buggy or poor performing games...the publisher gave the OK to release the game in its current condition but I give them a pass on this...Mad Max is being developed by the same studio that did Just Cause 2 so if it's a buggy mess I would blame them

WB owns Rocksteady, WB hired Iron Galaxy, WB forced the PC version to be released in the state it was in. Everyone is at fault, no one deserves a pass. It's not like Arkham Knight is the only time WB has fucked up. MKX apparently STILL doesn't work properly on the PC and several modes were literally unplayable at launch due to WB royally fucking up how the game was delivered. WB could have easily took one look at the PC port and delayed it until it was fixed. Everyone involved thought it was perfectly fine to release it in the state it was in. It's silly to excuse anyone from fault.

I will for sure wait until next day and look at steam user ratings how it runs etc.. if bugs good i didnt pre buy batman that was a disaster and still is not even fixed proper lmao...
