Batman: Arkham Knight

It might be unlocking now on the east coast. I preloaded earlier and now it's doing something when I started up steam.

I am definitely not happy with these textures in this game. Made sure everything maxed out, did a verify integrity and now my game is redownloading entirely, gotta wait an hour to play again...

Another guy on the GAF said he had to wait a few secs for the hi res textures to load in, but I was on this particular scene for minutes and nothing had changed.

Took around 18 minutes for it to unpack. Seems like I can't raise textures higher than normal, wtf.

Well, after coming back from the beach to find this shit storm brewing here, and other forums, I'll hit the game up in the morning after a good night's sleep.

I like how in Geforce Experience the optimal resolution for my GTX 780 is 1080P. LOL.

Watching this stream and this guy is getting sub 30 - 45 fps. He has a dedicated streaming PC so this PC is only playing the game.

To change from 30 fps max to whatever.

"steam library > steamapps > common > Batman Arkham Knight > BMGame > Config
in here, you just open up the "BmSystemSettings" and set the "maxFPS=" to whatever you want"

Lol, I wish I could hit 45fps, dat 30fps cap.

Should have bought this on console, if I wanted to play at that framerate.

Anyone who purchased the CDKeys.com Premium Edition for $35... do you have the Harley Quinn DLC? It seems that WB recently nuked the HK DLC, removing it from a ton of pre-order locations. At the moment (still unpacking) I show the following DLC in Steam..

Flashpoint Skin
New 52 Skin Pack
Season Pass

Come to think of it, I don't see the Steam Preorder skin pack either unless it is one of those above. I thought the Steam pre-order skin pack included the Batman Beyond skin and something else...

Also, anyone able to play (and using an AMD card) successfully edited the MaxFPS setting and had it work without negatively impacting the game in any way? Its bad enough that there seems to be so many problems with performance, but them actually capping the damn thing to 30 FPS is absolutely insane.

To skip the intro movies,

Go to your "Steam\steamapps\common\\BatmanArkhamKnight\Movies" folder

Locate and remove these two files

StartupMovie.swf
StartupMovieNV.swf

I also turned off mouse smoothing and lowered mouse sensitivity at BMinput.config

damn, something is seriously broken with this game. im getting about 5fps in the menus. running the benchmark nearly locks up my system.

Its seems to be running OK on my system I turned all the nvidia fx on, but I turned off AA and made shadows normal instead of high. I didn't change the 30fps thing so I am pretty sure I am only going at 30 fps but I can't be sure cause I can't get afterburner OSD to show as I play.

this game uses almost 7GB vram @ 3440x1440 w/ AA off good god...

anyways i changed max Fps to 60 and my fps does drop to high 30's w/ every setting max and all nvidia works turned on

Glad I didn't order this.. Even with Steam refunds after seeing RockSteady went full blown Ubisoft.. 30FPS cap.. lol.. Terrible AC like performance on high end rigs.. And Denuvo?

Gonna take a trip to NopesVille on this one..

i do get rock solid 60 fps if i turn nvidia work shit off @ 3440x1440 with single titan x
and you can remove 30 fps cap ( i know we shouldnt have to ) manually

Wow, those reviews went south, quick.
I think we are looking at a refund party. At least Valve can load test it's refund systems now...

Played about 30 minutes. It's not nearly poorly optimized as I thought it was going to be. I love it so far, but need to head to bed since I have to be up early.

I did notice I can't change my texture settings past normal, though. Even on normal I think this game looks awesome.

wow, what a fucking mess....

i disabled Xfire and installed the 15.6 betas. when the game runs, it runs fine. 30-40fps ish.

but heres the kicker.

first half of the benchmark - textures Normal - 35ish fps average.
Textures - Low - 16fps max.

*more weirdness

34min/44avg - textures low. lightning/LOD normal
35min/48avg - textures low/lightning normal/LOD High

look @ all the people complaining about sudden dip of fps + stutter
they mostly have video card with 2gb~4gb vram
it probably uses more than 4gb @ 1080p (almost 7gb @ 3440x1440)

Gameplay is fine, it's the other stuff like motion blur, fps cap, etc. that need fixing.

In this case the game has had huge discounts everywhere before release and if you bought from a third party website you're out of luck on the refund.

Maybe thats why the PC version is a mess and the console ones are getting performance praise. It's obvious where they put their priorities... Do they get full retail price for video card bundle copies? I'm assuming its a discounted rate, which would make sense as to why they would focus more on the other platforms... Doesn't make it right, but....

Well I turned on the framerate display in shadow play and that shows, but I still can't get Afterburner to display any of the OSD stuff. But it all seems to be working as expected for me at 2560x1600. I range from 29fps to 60fps with the MaxFPS ini setting set to 60. The movies seem to be locked to 30, but in game it generally stays around 35-40fps with all the nvidia stuff on which isn't bad for a 970. No crashes though everytime I exit the game I am greeted by a BatmanAK.exe has stopped working lol.

im done with this until amd puts out a working driver. everything on low and i get terrible thrashing, and the fps is all over the damn place.

boy, that escalated rather quickly. I'll guess I'll hold off and work on getting Fallout 3 to work on win 8.1.

Plays great for me. Am having a blast so far.
Me, too. Benchmark was 48/96/69 on my system. It pretty much stays a constant 60 FPS for me during actual gameplay with the max framerate set to 300 and smoothing turned off. The game will sometimes dip into the 40s for unknown reasons, but will also often going up into the 80s. All options are turned on and at their highest at 1440p. Using a i7-4770, 32 GB of RAM, Titan X Superclocked, and GTX 970 dedicated to PhysX. Game is using 5.5-6.0 GB of VRAM.

The game does have stuttering problems, though. Even though it stays around 60 FPS it does not feel very smooth at all, but it's not enough to hinder gameplay to the point of hampering my enjoyment. So some bugs to iron out, and I'd like to play around with the config files.

In a dick move, the game will not start if you set the gfxsettings xml file in my games to read only, so Fermi users can't force Gameworks features on. The EULA also states that modifying the game in any way is not allowed...

The game actually runs decently for me minus some minor hitching when using the grapple.

Getting around 50 FPS average with some drops to ~45 on a 980 Ti, everything maxed at 3440x1440

And 21:9 was all stretched when I started but after a restart it looks proper now... not sure what I did to fix that.

The stutter I get doesn't seem to be VRAM related, because it happens at 1080p too. It's infrequent though so isn't a big deal to me.

At 1440P max everything I get 59 fps average in benchmark with vsync on. Only slowdown thus far has been when Batmobile farts. Time to turn on fraps and report back.

No stuttering thus far.

It seems that I am only given the chance to select Normal for textures and High for other things. Is this the highest it can go? The highest it goes on AMD cards? I have a 290X so I have a 4gb GPU and "normal" says Requires 3gb, so I figured there may be a High that requires 4gb or more.

It seems there are only a handful of in game graphical settings....here's what I have at the highest they allow.

VSync - On
AntiAliasing - On
Texture Resolution = Normal
Shadow Quality = High
Level of Detail = High

(The next are Nvidia settings)
Interactive Smoke/Fog - forced to disable. No option to change, likely due to owning an AMD card
Interactive Papers/debris - same as above
Enhanced Rain - On
Enhanced Light Shafts - On

Didn't bother unlocking the frame rate, it stays at a rock solid 30FPS at the moment and that's perfectly fine with me. The two Nvidia effects I can enable are turned off, might see how badly they tank performance later. Like others I can only use Normal Textures.

I played for almost three hours straight without realizing it. The game is really damn good. Some fun little twists already. I've already figured out who the Arkham Knight is so it'll be interesting to see what other little hints they put into the identity and if they try to do things to make you think it's someone else.
