zzzzz. Never have used backwards compatibility anyway.
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.

Maybe. Just odd to have such big news yet no major 360 game like Halo or Gears? Here is some Viva Piñata. Enjoy!

I am with you on this one. Once a game has been out for a couple of years, I've played all I wanted to play until that game is a classic. Are people going to be super excited that they can go back and play Gears of War 2 for a fifth time?
that's the short version...wasn't the trailer at E3 6+ minutes?
Those games you mentioned will be limited to the people in the Preview Program only, when the feature launches this holiday season there will be 100 available. Look here to see what they'll likely be adding. Red Dead Redemption is on the top of the list with the most votes, followed by Skyrim, 2 COD games, Fallout 3, Halo: Reach, Gears of War 3, and many others...

$150 and it doesnt even come with a rechargeable battery .....
Ever used Steam?
In the past, "other" "premium" controllers from various platforms have been in the ~$200 range. $150 seems steep but in context its really not. If you want $99, wait for a sale.
Man just to see i looked at the gaf e3 thread, my god are those people the cesspool of gamers or what? Its pathetic how obviously biased they are
All Halo games are already ported.
You can even buy an Xbox 360 dirt cheap. Just isn't the "crowd" pleasing feature that it use to be.
I have a feeling next year at E3 that they announce PC streaming to the Xbox and complete the ecosystem.
That would be INSANE

Having Cortana on the system should be pretty nice.
Is it also compatible with original XBOX games?
Nope. Which is weird.
Xbox (x86) emulated by Xbox 360 (PPC) for backwards compatibility.
Xbox 360 (PPC) emulated by Xbox One (x86) for backwards compatibility.
but no
Xbox (x86) emulated by Xbox One (x86) for BC.
Yes, there are more reasons than just similar CPU architecture. Just weird when you see it like that.
However, as a side note - Xenia, the Xbox 360 emulator, is doing very good currently. Some games are nearly fully playable, while others are just the intro. Still, a lot of progress. Still a long ways from being nearly perfect, though.
Obviously this is cool. But I think people are significantly over reacting. There are only 100 games on the list that are backwards compatible. Remember the 360 had "backward compatibility" with Xbox and after a year or so they stopped adding games.
I can see Microsoft using this as a marketing tool to get people buy a One with their hopes of continued development of the backwards compatibility, then Microsoft stops developing it again.
exactly
Maybe, maybe not. Phil Spencer said it's easy to add new games. All publishers need to do is give the okay and all the game needs is a quick QA to make sure it works. There is no need to make game specific emulation or change any of the game code. The thing with emulating Xbox games on the 360 is that it had to be done on a game-by-game basis. Getting some games to work meant some others would work as well. With the XB1 they are emulating all the hardware of the 360 and running the 360 OS on top of that. It's tricking the OS into thinking it's running on native hardware.
The thing we have to remember is that the 360 was a PowerPC platform so emulating was not nearly as easy as emulating from a fully working X86 platform like the Xbox One. The Xbox One is essentially just running a modified version of Windows. Think of how many consoles and games you can emulate on the Windows platform... dozens. Everything from Gamecube to Nintendo 64, Atari, to Gameboy... This backwards compatibility is a great move and I love the fact that Rainbow Six will include Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 for free. Been wanting to replay that lately and now I don't have to buy a 360 to do it.
