Biggest announcement yet, and I think it just sold me on the XB1, along with the new controller.

This is how you take advantage of your strength in software, very nice move by MS !!

Definitely a step in the right direction from Microsoft.

If only I was a preview member, i'd like to see how well it works.. I wonder if there is any plans for the original xbox. I guess if they remastered Shenmue I would have no need for it lol.

Yar, watching the conference right now, pretty impressive showing for MS so far (at least for the Xbox, Windows hasn't seen any huge announcements.)

Only 100 or so games at the start. It's a streaming service, much like PS4 service. My understanding you put the disc in and it lets you play it for free.

And while it sounds amazing, it's going to be a streaming service. I have to say, there was some serious lag/artifacting on the short 30 sec (or less) demo they had of playing Mass Effect.

But it is a step in the right direction.

This is awesome news! I'll have to check it out. Excellent news!

I thought it downloads the digital version of the game? That's what it sounded like to me anyways.

Not streaming, the games are being converted to the XB1 architecture and are full digital games you can download. I'm sure the conversion process and making sure each title works is what's taking so long.

This is awesome.

Is the list of games anyplace to be found?

I'm really curious for my purchase of GTAV on the 360 (or any other game that is 360/xbone)? Will I just get the xbox one version?

Man just to see i looked at the gaf e3 thread, my god are those people the cesspool of gamers or what? Its pathetic how obviously biased they are

They said all games as long as the game devs or whatever allow it. It will be the 360 version you install from the disc.

What if it was a digital purchase on the 360? Minecraft and GTAV both come to mind off hand. Have a few other in there too.

Yup they said those too. You download or install from disc and play.

Ok, it's not streaming. My bad. But the list isn't impressive so far. I'm sure it will grow but wow not my top picks to start this with.

This is awesome except for the fact that I have not been taking advantage of the Xbox 360 games with gold freebies so I have missed out on so much playable free stuff. Damn.

Send me a pm and I can send you an invite.

I'm glad its not streaming. I personally like option much better then streaming. I wonder whats Sony's comeback for this.

I'm more excited about that controller than just about anything else I've seen in a long time. That might be the last traditional gamepad you ever need. Hopefully it'll work fine for the PC (once they get the Xbox One receiver finished) too.

Isn't this just fake emulation, like what 360 did with Xbox games?

Bold move. I can see people completely destroying their game performance unless MS puts some sort of limit on it.

Yeah that is what I first thought too.

Someone is going to try to get an ENB to work on xbox one and wonder why there is stutter galore.

Really digging that controller, the swapping feature is what I was hoping Valve would've used with theirs.

Curious to see how Sony will match up to this conference, MS did a great job (for Xbox gaming).

Damnit. I should have downloaded my free 360 games had I known this would be coming.

I thought Microsoft's press conference was pretty solid. The 360 backwards compatibility feature is cool, although I hope they do a much better job of it than they did with the original Xbox games being compatible with the 360.

I already figured I'd be buying Halo 5, Forza 6, and the two Gears of War titles, but there was some intriguing indie games that they showed off. I'm also very interested in seeing more of Rare's new game, Sea of Thieves. The Rare Replay Collection might be pretty cool too.

I'll be looking forward to Gamescom even more, since they said we'll hear more about Crackdown, Quantum Break, etc., there.

It wasn't bad. I'm really disappointed that Gears Ultimate is just the first game. MCC was such a good bundle (well if it worked properly at release at least) that the Gear announcement is a huge disappointment. Especially with pre-orders popping up at $60 for it.

Agreed. When you've got MCC and the upcoming Uncharted collection including all of their respective games in one package - I had fully expected GoW Ultimate Edition to be the same.

I guess I can then look to get rid of my 360 eventually as it has not been used in over a year.

Obviously this is cool. But I think people are significantly over reacting. There are only 100 games on the list that are backwards compatible. Remember the 360 had "backward compatibility" with Xbox and after a year or so they stopped adding games.

I can see Microsoft using this as a marketing tool to get people buy a One with their hopes of continued development of the backwards compatibility, then Microsoft stops developing it again.

Pretty much this.
Don't get yourselves too excited.
