New Samsung 4k for everyone.

GREAT news everyone!! I updated the firmware of my 48ju7500 today and can now confirm that 4:4:4 chroma is 100 percent working in GAME mode!!!

I also rechecked the input lag with me leo bodnar and its 20.9ms!!!

Now we can play games with low input lag and 4:4:4 chroma!

I can only confirm it works on hdmi 2 input that is labeled DVI on the one connect box.

This tv gets better and better!!

New firmware that has 4:4:4 chroma for game mode is 1204. You after updating will need to enable game mode then in game picture mode select uhd color and turn it on, do NOT unplug the hdmi before or after, keep it plugged in, the tv will reset on its own and now you will have 4:4:4 in game mode!!

I checked all screens and it passed all of then with flying colors just like pc mode. stock firmware on the tv of 1004 did not have 4:4:4 working in game mode.

Any questions let me know.

Mind blown. Samsung is going to sell tons of these babies.

Edit: Confirmed working on JU7100.

Can someone confirm the update allows 4:4:4 in game mode on the 6500/6700?

I was about to go for the Wasabi-Mango, but this makes the Samsung a whole lot more appealing!

Pretty sure my 2012/13 Sharp 70 doesn't use any sort of low freq PWM.
I've played a solid 2hrs of BF4 with no headaches. So now this thing basically just looks like my crappy IPS-glow-galore Z30i. I can deal with that I spose... we'll see. Need to put in a solid 8hr work from home day.

Crap, hopefully it's in the works for those models. Thanks for checking WorldExclusive and Dan_D.

I think the ju7100 and ju7500 have a 12bit panel... I dont think the 6500/6700 do.

Awsome right!!!! I instantly could tell even before pulling up the test images and the input lag stayed the same at 20.9ms!!! Soo beyond happy about this!!! Best pc monitor and for gaming I ever used... !!!

Remember everyone in game mode to turn shaprness to 0, turn off dynamic contrast in advanced settings and in picture settings turn off smart led. Also put color from native to custom. These are all things D-Nice did to all of my Samsungs when he isf calibrated them.

Does this also work for firmware 1206 on the 48ju7500? Or are you using the latest firmware on that TV?

Really? Yeah I will return mine if thats the case.

20ms 4k PC Mode 4:4:4 is worth the hassle

That's great news about the game mode 21ms 4:4:4 on the 7100 / 7500 series. That seals the deal and now I'm going to buy one since I was very hesitant about the 36ms. I wouldn't start returning 6500/6700 series units as there's a good chance these TV's will get the same update eventually. Samsung is obviously going to cater to the higher end / more expensive TV's first with the lower end models later.

Would you even be able to tell the difference between 21ms and 36ms? That's a difference of 15ms which is not even one frame...I mean I can tell the difference between my two displays but that's because one is practically 0ms while the other is around 35ms. I don't think the return is worth the hassle and possibility of getting a bad panel.

Just want to chime in. Bought a 40" JU6500 today and grab the latest update 1206. Running at 4:4:4 on game mode with a GTX 970. Cheers!

MistaSparkul ... funny you would say that. That's been my attitude to everyone on this tread from the very start. Still, people want to make a big deal out of it. So ......

I have a 6500 .. and your running 4:4:4 in game mode? Hell yes. Grabbing the firmware now.

Don't be messing with my emotions!

Lots of lag fear, but it's real easy to test if swapping the 6xxx for the 7xxx makes sense. Real easy. Just play for a while on GAME, then switch to PC and play for a while. If you feel the difference, it's real. If you don't, you don't.

15ms is REAL tough to feel.

Better yet, do it blind. Have your buddy swap the modes without you knowing which mode you're playing in, blind. 9 out of 10 of you would incorrectly identify which mode is the faster ms mode, perhaps even as high as 24 out of 25 would get it wrong.

I saw an article not long ago, maybe last year where they did a blind input latency test because of all the latency fanboys we have and no one could tell anything between 20 and 40+ ms, No one. I'm sure others here read the same article.

Confirmed, 4:4:4 working in game mode on 50" JU6500

20ms bitches.

No doubt the flat / curved 40" is now the best 40" monitor to purchase. Please advise people according now.

This is excellent news, I mean, the bar has officially be raised so high that other manufactures will be forced to take notice and design / engineer high performance large format 4K displays.

Been playing Borderlands 2 and I .... think I can feel a difference. Who the hell knows haha

It's not working on my 48JU6700 either. So that's 3 confirmations that the 6700 currently doesn't support 4:4:4/60 in Game mode.

Now why in the heck would the 7500, 7100, and 6500 all work? Hopefully the 6700 firmware is coming. I'm currently on the latest.

No, it appears to work fine on the 6700. Make sure to change the source type to something other than PC or PC/DVI before you enable game mode. You will want/need to alter your picture settings as you see fit however after making the switch.

Ok I had a setting wrong, I was wrong, after carefully going into the menu and triple checking... I do not have 4:4:4 working in game mode.

Can you go over your step by step settings and tell us how you achieved this?

Not getting 4:4:4 in game mode on my 6700 with 1206 firmware.

Mine says it does, but I can tell the difference in the image quality between having UHD enabled in game mode and in PC mode. Text / color quality etc. is far better in PC mode with UHD enabled.

PC mode looks better. That's from the 16ms extra video processing. Are people verifying the 4:4:4 by reading the last two lines of the Quick Brown Fox? The last two lines isn't as clear as the other lines, but I could definitely make out every word. Turning on UHD and game mode does not mean it's in 4:4:4 chroma.

Correct. The best way to tell is by checking the test images which I believe 7100/7500 owners have done.

One frame is 16.7 ms so its just about there and yes for me I can feel a difference between the two... even more noticable with a mouse...

Thats correct , I have confirmed 4:4:4 works in game mode, you have turn on uhd color and as far as I know be on hdmi 2 dvi.

+1 to both of these posts. I switched the input type to something other than PC, and then was able to enable Game mode, and UHD Color is still set to On. When I display the picture Info using the remote, it clearly indicates 3840x2160/UHD but this is definitely not 4:4:4 as things look visibly far worse and all of the test images fail. Response time (input lag) is excellent, though.

I'm still using the HDMI 1 input, so I'll follow coolhandm3's advice and try HDMI 2.

I will check if my 7500 does 4:4:4 in game mode tomorrow. When I first set it up Thursday and was screwing with settings, I got into some weird in-between UHD/4:4:4 mode where it wasn't as crisp as PC mode, but still readable, unlike out the of the box unreadable. I then got it sorted and was in full crisp PC mode. I wonder if this middle mode is what some users are seeing....

I tested with all of the images to verify 4:4:4 and it passes everyone perfectly in game mode now with uhd color on.

It is definately working on hdmi 2 input that has dvi labeled on the one connect box with the new 1204 firmware. I tried it before updating firmware and it didnt pass in game mode and now it does.

If you follow my picture settings I posted previously game mode can actually look better then pc mode, the custom color option versus stuck in native color mode in pc mode is huge for accuracy, I would know as I have 3 displays already isf calibrated.

Now with 20.9ms of input and 4:4:4 chroma and the custom color option game mode is superior to pc mode.

Okay, I just got home and I ran the test again. I'm not sure any more. While I can read the "Quick Brown Fox," it's not as clear as PC mode. PC Mode I know for sure is 4:4:4.

Once I open the file in Photoshop, I can tell the difference between PC Mode and non-PC Mode. UHD and non-UHD looks the same in Photoshop when not in PC Mode. As of right now, I cannot confirm that it's possible to get 4:4:4 in Game Mode.

This is a big deal since you're debunking that the new firmware update supports 4:4:4 on game mode 21ms and you have a 7000 series. Guess we need more people to test. Did you adjust your sharpness as others have suggested?
