Does it feel like Left for Dead? Monster needs more powers before his moves get predictable to the Hunters.

I didnt think it felt anything like L4D. Other than its a co-op game, there isnt much similarity.

Agreed. I didn't get an L4D vibe at all from this game.

If anything it feels like a mix of Giants and AvP Predator Hunt...as I expected.

The best thing about the game for me has been the co-op features and class abilities. The game forces you to play your class and stick together to have a chance to beat the monster.

Some negatives are that it takes 4 minutes between matches, choppy performance, and the inability to easily mute other players.

Couldn't have summarized it better myself.

Holy shit just had my first heart pounding game as a Goliath. I was basically on the run the first part and cornered myself into the facility and all hope was lost inside. I managed to jump on the platform toward the entrance and managed to evolved to level two someonewhere by a waterfall, but they located me quick and started unloading as I was evolving, somehow I managed to survive though. These guys were still ganging up on me good, but damn I unleashed the beast and quickly disposed of the Medic then it was all downhill from there. I was basically talking shit until the downed trapper got back up and proceeded to rekt him alone. Was lost for the longest time until I realized I also had to kill the trapper's pet, then took the easy win.

Saw no chop on my end.

You can talk about the game freely but you can't post screenshots or videos. Not that you'd want to since they watermarked the shit out of the game.

Oh good.

I played a match where someone basically broke the game.
I was monster, 3 of their players came after me, while 1 stayed at the spawn the whole time. After I killed everyone he comes out, giving everyone time to respawn and attack again. Monster will never survive 2 waves like that.
Found out that happened at the end of the game when it shows you everyones paths...

I finally got to play 1.5 rounds after 2.5 runs joining as a spectator :(

The full game I played was not bad, I wish the time limit was longer. The monster spent 3/4ths of the whole round hiding. We managed to get him down to half health before he found another good hiding spot.

After he evolved to lvl 2 we got raped lol. We rejoined with 6 seconds left but he was too strong.

They need to fix Eyefinity quickly. I dont mind 3 screens of the same game if they refuse to allow multiple monitors but I hate disabling my display group each time I want to play a game.

They also need to kill VOX and make easy to access PTT options.

On my rig I even went down to 1080, Medium settings, SMAA Low and Tessellation off. Still got pretty bad performance. It probably hit 60 at times, but it felt really sluggish and I got some massive stuttering.

I sort of wonder if the video settings are working properly, because I couldn't tell much of a difference between Very High and Medium visually.

Lots of people are experiencing frame rate issues. It boils down to piss power vram usage. I bet you are not seeing it because you are running at 1080p. Try running at 1440p with tessellation + AA on at 120hz and you'd likely be suffering like me.

Its an Alpha though , I'm sure by the final release it'll be solid. Its also a demanding game , very pretty.

I hope this shitty VRAM usage problem isn't going to plague every console port this generation. (Not saying this is a console port necessarily, but it's on consoles too, right?)

Well my card is using ALL the VRAM during usage according to GPUZ. I guess its just a big VRAM game.

My monitor maxes out at 1080p :(

Besides my card can't handle those resolutions very well. How much VRAM do you have?

It should not be sucking up more than 2 GB of VRAM at 1080 on Low/Medium settings. That is just silly.

I have a TITAN. Way beyond the vram requirements of anything right now. Its just typical for an Alpha. They can easily address it before release so here is hoping they do.

It actually plays slightly better on Low settings (no Tessellation, SMAA Low), but there are some graphical glitches with those settings it seems. Still looks pretty darn good on Low, so I don't really know what is causing the massive lag at higher settings other than unnecessary VRAM walls.

I really like play the medic/sniper...lots of fun.

This game is awesome just took down the monster and it was playing damn fine for an alpha. There were a few glitches but thats what an alpha is for. graphics are top notch already in my book.

Playing at 1080p I was showing 2.6gigs of memory usage. I'm running on a single 290 till I put my new psu in today. Then I'll have 2 running. Game ran great for me. Does seam to use multie cores well. My 3930k showed loaded 35-50% on all cores. I just want it to run at 2560x1080 now dang it.

My rig is in my sig, I'm using a GTX670 4gb.

Performance was the worst on Friday but has been getting better throughout the beta. Occasionally I'll get a hiccup every now and then.

GPU-Z is showing me using 4 gb of vram at peak.

The more I play it the more fun I'm having, great game. There are times when the Alien bass line starts playing, I get separated from the group and I start to feel a twinge of actual fear creep up on me.

That little twinge is something games have been really missing, I am looking forward to this game and hopefully I'll get in on the next alpha too.

Overall I think that was a successful weekend test. Didn't have any issues, except for the the few disconnections and being dropped outside of the map. What I especially took out of this alpha test. Very important feature for the monster - use that crouch!! Goin stealth early on as the monster is KEY. And Hank is just a badass class, very versatile some may eventually say hes too OP and I hope he doesn't get nerfed. Being able to cloak the team, I can go in res a down teammate with ease or if the monster is wrecking me I can easily excuse myself from the confrontation in just a click. I can sit back and let my assault do the work and just load him up on invulnerability or I can pester the monster with the laser cutter, which does small but quick damage which accumulate fast. To top it all off the Orbital Artillery just wrecks. I know it doesn't work indoors, but it's extremely powerful when applicable. I feel the barrage timing is just right, it comes it very quick to be useful, but leaves room to be dodged by an aware monster player.

The other classes I could give a shit about, lol.

Yeah, the alpha is over for this weekend.

Overall I liked the game a lot. Performance was shit but that can (hopefully) be fixed in the final. The balance was pretty good right off the bat, though I have to say I never actually saw the monster win, and when I played the monster there was so much blur/shit going on on the screen, I could hardly tell what was happening. It was very difficult to pinpoint and attack the hunters. I think navigating the map quickly as the monster will be key, because you can move WAY faster as the monster than hunters. Which, unfortunately, can lead to some boring cat and mouse gameplay at the start where you don't even see the monster for the first 5 minutes or so. But the monster really does need that time to level up. Even at Stage 3 I never saw a monster actually win in a head-on fight with the hunters, so it makes me think there is a bit of balancing to be done there.

Very good first impressions overall...can't wait to see/play more of this one.

Bad monster players, IMO; (I'm not great at goliath, FWIW). I've seen Goliath in capable hands and they are near unstoppable. I think jetpacks need a very slight buff and tranq shot needs to be able to nullify leap escape to a degree.

+1 on the jetpack.

Yeah, I agree about the tranq shot. I played as the medic quite a bit and it felt like for the tranq to really be effective, you had to hit them consistently with it, since the effect lasted a very, very short time. If they so much as went behind a tree or something, it was enough to break the effect.

My favorite moment of the alpha happened as a monster. I was only stage 1 and I was already fighting the hunters, locked inside the arena. I didn't try to fight, but crouched and hid inside a bush. I escaped the arena with barely any shield damage, got to stage 3 and wrecked 'em :D

Definitely a new/bad monster player. I can easily wreck the hunter squad at stage 3 with health to spare. Once the medic is down, I can mop up the other 3 and the pet before the medic can respawn.

Yeah, maybe so. I guess my point was just out of the dozen or so matches I was able to play, the monster never won. By and large, people probably aren't used to that kind of gameplay, though, so it could just be a learning curve.

stage 3 monster is a little too powerful imo, I never lost as monster out of 3-4 games I played as it

only time I lost was as hunters when we let the monster get to stage 3, though in another game we did take one down at the final objective too

I got owned pretty hard even at stage three on my first time as monster. I see a lot of monster players who don't take advantage of the cliffs enough to properly get away from the hunters. Or prioritize the right targets. One guy kept on beating on the trapper while I kept healing and the others were taking away all his health.

I think stage three is too mobile at the moment. Stage 1 should be more mobile than the hunters to survive. I think slightly nerfing the leap speed and distance at stage 3, while increasing shield capacity would make things more evenly balanced.

3-4 games in an alpha is not a significant statistic, no offense. The people you played were new to the game, probably randoms playing for the first time and not working together.

The game isn't balanced around noobs, its balanced around both sides knowing how to play and having a reasonable idea of how to work together.

So wtf, did the game auto-uninstall for anyone else? wtf?

That means if you get into another alpha you'll have to redownload the entire game again, why on earth would they do that???

Probably because its an alpha. It doesn't matter why they did it, you signed up to be a tester. Not the same as a customer.
