Watch Dogs

Heh suck it ubisoft. well at least we get to see some undoctored/presented images. and if you're so inclined you get to play WD a bit early. honestly i like the pirated version of uplay games better because, i dont have to use uplay.

Is this a problem?

I don't really see how, considering there aren't really any games similar to it that look like that. (GTA V is OK, but the jaggies on consoles are really annoying). But you can never please everyone.

People are way too into how a game looks these days. I would take a game with lesser graphics that fun over a game that just looks pretty anyday.

So far this looks like a pretty solid game to me. Sure it may not have the best graphics in the world but as long as the gameplay is solid that all that matters to me. Im still holding out for some more reviews and actual game play videos before I decide if Im buying or not, but with not GTA V for PC in sight anytime soon im thinking this will tide me over nicely.

the lighting effects look pretty good. and i am liking the gun sounds, they sound hefty but not over the top.

I've been listening to the PS4 crowd go on today about how the PC version of Watch Dogs on max settings looks inferior to Infamous Second Son.
Going to be a long weekend...

What they fail to realize is that PC will always have an advantage with resolution & antialiasing scalability. Even if the textures & shaders aren't amazing to look at, we'll still have higher graphics fidelity as a base regardless of graphics rendering quality.

I would sure hope a PS4 exclusive looks better than a ported console game.

Looking at a few of the screenshots, I'd like to see a little bit more light blooming, a bit more contrast and some more prominent reflections on cars, but apart from that, I'm actually pretty pleased with the visuals. They didn't go gonzo on color correction and dodging, which makes the game look odd compared to most others, but it doesn't look bad. And the game supports TXAA, which is great.

Oh, and Aiden's hair always ends up looking 'off' to me. Given how much time you're going to spend looking at his head, it seems they could've spent some more resources on that. But that's a pretty minor gripe.

Implying Ubisoft cares about PC gamers whatsoever.
If they do release one, it would be through Nvidia and exclusive to Nvidia hardware, heh.

On a stock i5 4570 (3.2 GHz)
CPU utilization is ~50% sometimes spiking to 60.

Sounds like 2 threads. Great.

I had him run down to 800x600 and he got the same fps.

"Ok, I tried 800x600. CPU load is the same and the framerate is the same. Changing resolution didn't affect anything."

I guess it's confirmed DUAL CORE, rofl.
Time to start overclocking.

this has to be the one title that seriously pushes me to each side of the camp.

I was psyched about this -- wanted it BAD. Then all the videos/info started coming out.

Still no solid trustworthy reviews yet but im cautiously optimistic. it looks like GTA4 without the HD textures. If the gameplay is solid I don't mind forking over 40 bucks for it. That's right, 40.

Seems a bit sad that my 2500k and crossfire 290's won't really get to stretch their legs at all though.

if you have a 120/144 Hz monitor they will

Well I guess it's confirmed about the graphical tune down compared to the first announcement 2 years ago. I wont say it's bad, but it's quite the change up on the PC with Ultra settings. Disappointing to say the least.

The freaking pop in looks terrible.

One thing games still can't do well since 1998...

Is it really that hard to not have crap popping into your field of view from just 20-30 feet away?

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Fired up the game and i have 2x 290's and with crossfire enabled i get ~30fps on ultra on opening gameplay. When I disable crossfire I get 50-60fps. In other words do not enable crossfire until ubi releases patch or amd updates drivers.

They have a few days before official release so fingers crossed it is fixed by then.

How did you get the game before the release?

There are dozens of people with screenies of their physical copies on the watch dogs reddit, among other places, all of which are activating just fine as Taint mentioned.

It leaked and he stole it

I can't imagine the disc copy shipping early would matter, at least on PC. Every copy activates through Uplay. Anyone playing it now on PC has a cracked copy.

I received my physical copy and it activates just fine through Uplay.

It's funny, there are many ways to get a copy of a game early and not just by grabbing a leaked copy. Sometimes retailers sell copies earlier/online stores ship copies too early/or if you know a truck driver who 'accidently' drops a pallet of games that were in transit to the store and there is a copy or two that is deemed unfit to sell and magically dissapears lol. These are just some of the possibilities.

I love when people jump to conclusions.
