Taken from Neogaf.

"Here is a gif (with accelerated time) of the entire sequence, freezing at a few key points. The car looks "good" or "bad" depending on the lighting. I'd take from that the the infamous gif in the OP shows the worst possible comparison and that the game is indeed running better than at E3 2013. Nevertheless, it's in my opinion not as good looking as the E3 2012 trailer.

Someone should explain to these people that the XBone and PS4 are now 'current gen'.

This is all reminding me of when Killzone was debut for the PS3...that initial trailer was so mouth watering. Final game looked great but not what they first showed us.

Watch_Dogs graphics comparison (2012 VS 2013 VS 2014) PC Dev Kit, PS4 Dev Kit, PS4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBGIi9VA_AI

@ 1:11 it shows a comparison of the same scene rendered from an older, superior build to the newer, inferior one. (The older build has superior lighting and color correction, perhaps AO aswell) There is no debating now.
@ 1:35 Compares the physics of the main characters coat from the old build to the new one. (Physx enhanced versus no Physx maybe?)

That comparison video is mostly bullshit. It's funny because his riverside comparison has the wrong labels at first (on purpose or accidental I'm not sure), and the trailer video he pulled from is just overly compressed. If you take the gamersyde video and compare it's virtually identical to the 2013 (imo anyway).

He also fails to include the other gameplay video from 2013 which shows cars in the same bad way as the infamous gif.

We really need to stop going back to the 2012 reveal. It was running on a high-end PC and well before the next-gen console hardware was finalized, so there's no point.

Ubisoft use monster PC rig with SLI to test graphics engine before scaling them down. They did the same for AC Black Flag. They removed the POM, you can see a little of them in the GSYCH video i think, or the Nvidia Montreal press conference, when the guy explain how it works.

Basically. They do a 'target render', than put in the real world to see how it runs (if it need 3 SLI they don't care), then they start to cut back to get a balance on feature, then they port it to console. They did that with AC and FC3.

Something X manifacturer say. Yeah yeah yeah Xbox One will run like a crazy mofo 3 SLI TITAN, so they do their demo on this.. then received the actual hardware and it sucks..Reality check and they cut it back.

Why they cut back on PC too.. i don't know, why not let people run at 30FPS with 3 SLI if they wanted with all the bells and crap..

That may be so.

However, we really do need to silence the apologists, they play a major part in the problem with this industry. They're always in denial and always around to whitewash and downplay the truth of the matter.
That's not even debatable.

the 6 month delay has really hurt them in terms of buzz...anticipation and excitement were at an all time high in November 2013...now the game seems to be generating more negative buzz...hopefully Ubisoft delivers the goods

Most of the buzz came from the game being the only launch title for the XB1 and PS4 that looked "next gen" and had a lot of promise behind it. The delay being so last minute took a lot of wind out of the game's sails and people have had time to forget about it or get worried about different elements.

Ubisoft Montreal Creative director Jonathan Morin said on Twitter the trailer "wasn't a good graphics reference"...He said the footage shown at E3 2012 was from the PC version of the game, and the footage shown of the game a year later, at E3 2013, was taken from the PlayStation 4 version...He continued: "PC on very high setting is REALLY stunning if you ask me. As for density it also very high of course."

Ubisoft Montreal has also announced the minimum specifications for the PC version:

IntelCore 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz or AMDPhenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz
6GB RAM, 1024 VRAM DirectX 11 Shader 5.0
SCard: DirectX9
25 GB

That's what made me originally excited for this title. Once it was delayed, I bailed out of my PS4 pre-order as it was this and Assassin's Creed IV that got me excited for the system.

Still debating if it'll be a Day 1 purchase for me. Hack the planet! :p

Ubi is just coming across as pathetically desperate at this point, there wouldn't be nearly as much controversy if they just manned up and admitted that what was shown at E3 2012 was a conceptual demonstration of their engine which could not be achieved with a multiplatform release. I have no doubts that the PC version will look superior, as they always do, but I do not believe for an instant that it will exhibit the same fidelity as the E3 2012 demo, particularly given that Ubi pulled the same crap with FC3:

quite a difference huh? Boy do the jungles look amazing in that demo they showed.

looks like a lot of jungle was removed in the final build...lot more trees, plants etc...like poachers came in and cut down the trees and did some landscaping

even the first Crysis game looked nothing like the first screens in the jungle :(

All I hope is that they dont completely water down the PC version to keep XBONE kiddies from raging about platform inequality - they should be used to disappointment by now. I'm real sick of other developers doing exactly that.

I want the eye candy options left in, even if it requires triple GTX880's to run them.

Yup. The original Crysis stills and footage made the game look photo realistic. Plus (like the Far Cry 3 video) they always show everything running butter smooth at 60+ FPS. I think a lot of those demos are just pre-rendered.

With perfect anti-aliasing, I seem to recall the game looking pretty close to some of the first screenshots. You probably first played the game without any anti-aliasing, and that really ends up looking absolutely nothing like the promotional shots.

I saw the PS4 advert for Watch Dogs on TV last night. To say I was unimpressed would be an understatement. Graphics were terrible, gameplay looked kinda bland (they portrayed it as a cheesy GTA rip), there was very little substance.

Granted it's only a trailer, but not the best way to drum up excitement.

The E3 video took place in the rain, everything looks better when reflective maps are boosted to the extreme. So many complainers...

The visuals in that trailer look a lot like what Sleeping Dogs looks like on PC. Aside from that, some things look too bright, or something. I'm now under the assumption that they're only showing console gameplay because of how console players got upset with being shown Dark Souls 2 gameplay from the visually-superior PC version.

What are console people expecting, seriously...that their $400 boxes are going to do what a GTX 780 is capable of? I'm not seeing the logic.

The footage looks like it's color-spaced for TVs, which might explain why the dynamic range is a little limited.

Probably from a complete lack of understanding of how hardware works in general.

Ahh, good call.

This game's visuals had so much potential. I will still buy it as it brings on a unique open world game. Looking forward to it.

Yup, totally explains how the graphics went from this....

It's like they turned off the specular maps altogether and then turned off any advanced dynamic shadowing to go along with it. I hope this stuff remains in engine and/or can be unlocked for use. I know GTAIV had some huge graphical enhancements via mods.

That has to be ps3/x360 footage. I think many are over exaggerating about this

Ubisoft like many other companies show and promise stuff they can't deliver! That's why I don't pre-order anymore, I just wait and see how the final product turns out.
