Battlefield 4 Beta Discussion

Stuttery mess on my PC. Not framerate, just stutters every few seconds as I run around the map.. not network either, ~27 ping.
 
from what i'm reading online many i5-2500K users are seeing terrible performance. guess i'll see how shitty the beta runs when i get home from work.
 
Yep, i5-2500K [email protected] player right here. I played for about 15 minutes this morning and it was really stuttering bad. This was before I updated my Nvidia drivers so I'll report back later tonight.

What version of the Beta is this? E3 Build? July Build? I highly doubt this map is close to retail.
Also I haven't played any BF game that didn't have a long list of bugs in Beta and at launch.

I feel like every time DICE releases something, people expect a difference beta/launch experience than the last. Retail quality in some cases.

CPU I have and it's OC'd. I get shit performance.
 
Any 2600k users having the same performance? Is it simply a quad-core (phys & logical) issue?
 
I am contemplating getting another 780 to run this game

Currently:
i7 950 @ 4.08GHz
12 GB RAM
EVGA SC 780 gtx

DELL 30" IPS 2560x1600

would another 780 be wise? or is my CPU not able to keep up with 2 780's?

No I have a 3930k and I've tried it with HT on and off and it's the same both ways. Stuttery. This is really frustrating as BF3 was never this bad. Not even on the demo. dammit.

It's never wise to spend $650 based on performance you're getting in a game that's still using beta code and video cards running beta drivers.

Same CPU as you, didn't feel any stutters at all.
 
Played a bit more.

Everything on low aa/af off.
Motion blur at 0%

Max 73 fps. Some stutter, but it happened at the same time as buddies in vent.

I was looking around the net and found some people were having better luck rolling back nvidia drivers to 320.49. I will have to give that a go.

At the moment though my sound keeps cutting out after seconds to minutes of gameplay It started when I began playing bf4 today....I did not have any issues last night though. It's probably sound drivers. Crap, it happens in a web browsers too.... Desktop sound and ventrilo sound works fine though.

I'm assuming this is driver related. This could probably help.
 
I have 6gb of ram and my system usage goes to 5+gb while I'm running the game only...
Stutters super bad, then few seconds later its smooth, then back to 2fps.

Might buy 2 more gigs.. Recommended ram is 8gb.

I don't think anyone ever said they expected anything what so ever from this beta release. If you have nothing constructive to add, don't waste your/our time typing/reading.
 
The game isn't running horrible enough for me to try any of the home remedy "fixes" it should be better than it is, but it's still very much playable. I'll just enjoy it as is until better drivers/game code are released.

So far I've tried in on a 3770k @ 4.2GHz and a 2600k @ 4.2GHz and had roughly the same performance. Going to try it on a 2500k and see how much, if any difference HT makes.
 
Anyone having punk buster crashes continuously starting at game launch? Also does one crash on bootup, trying to get pbsetup but it is going at 1.4kbytes/sec for some reason. Weirdness....

EDIT: Restarted the download and now it was instant... EDIT2: Ah joy, it can't even update itself.

Well...I think this may be the game to finally force me to upgrade. It brings my computer to its knees. Even on the lowest settings and non native (eeek!) resolution.
 
for fuck sake, I got in a server for 5 minutes this morning and it worked. Get back from work and try to play. First time battlelog doesn't work. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th attempt punkbuster exe crashes while the level is loading, and I get stuck at the loading screen. 5th attempt I get in the server for 10 seconds and then BF4 crashes.

Gonna try re-installing. If that doesn't work, f*ck it.

Yup, PB is failing hard.
 
just played a round in a 64 man server for about 20 minutes. 1920x1080 Ultra settings 2xMSAA, hovering in the 40's. it fluctuates from 30's (rare) to the 70's (rare). gpu is pegged at 99% and cpu is around 85% or so. i'm happy with that right now. i imagine i can lower settings to get above 60's.
 
Turning v-sync on really helped smooth things out for me. I was getting awful tearing because of random frame drops. Frame rate in some scenes would shoot up to over 100 and then randomly down to 40, but typically no lower than that. Only running a Core i7 930 and a GTX 670. 1920x1080 stock "Ultra" setting with AA switched to 2x instead of 4x.
 
Jason if you've got an nvidia card go adaptive vsync. Gotta set it manually in nvidia control panel for bf4.exe

Never had screen tearing again for psst 2 years of BF3 and most other games.
 
Its funny cuz I have been nothing but compliments and now....
cant log into games, just stays in the loading screen. I have done nothing different, didnt even use the computer from the last time I played the damn game ahhaha.

I guess shit gets crappier at night when everyone is playing.
 
People trying to fix the game themselves need to take a look around. You can't fix the game. You must wait for the game developer to fix the game.

I get to the very last portion of loading, the point just before you enter the game, and it just never does finish loading. Nice.
 
Can anyone successfully setup their key bindings? I get to the Jet and it freezes the game up

Man, where are these folks trying to fix the game? I only been reading system specs, game setups, dislikes, likes, and suggestions of what may help the game run smoother. Please fix the game [H] members! :rolleyes:
 
If it doesn't load. Wait. I waited for 5 minutes, and the round ended. But I got into the next one. haha

True. Not I can't edit any of my bindings without it locking up. I tried to change weapon select in tank and it froze.
 
Performance is too bad to really play the game. It does not look that much better than BF3 either. It does look better in some areas, but the performance is too bad to play. The game also looks odd and blurry even though it is at 1920x1080.

I also hate the HUD design. It looks a bit too big and ugly. Blocks too much stuff.

The "lost signal of ancient TV" affect is extremely annoying to. Same with the blood splatter.

So far I am not liking the changes I have seen, even if they are minor.

But the maps are a bit more interactive, which is a good thing.
 
I can't even get it to download. It goes to 99%, then back to 81%, repeat forever. I've tried downloading it twice now. Cool.
