You'd be surprised how much dps you can get out of a build if you're specced properly. I redid my Facebreaker passive tree and ended up with 3k tooltip dps at level 44.

My Ice Spear is only at 1.8k dps. Granted it's only 3-linked, but still.

What are you guys farming lately? I've been hooked on farming docks with 161 quantity... there's still RNG in play, sometimes drops are good, sometimes there's nothing... but there's most definitely more currency.

The whole catch-22 with gear in these games is annoying. I got a good 'progression' set going, then started on my quantity set. After having it, I see no reason to ever go back. You farm the game for drops, so any gear which doesn't have quant/rarity is pointless.

My FP is around 2500 dps, but I'm mostly specced for minions. It's more for directing traffic and supplementing summon damage than anything. I'm trying to buy a 20/20% LMP for it, which should be a decent boost, then a 20/20% faster casting.

I mostly do maps, sometimes a Piety run or Catacombs, but 95% of the time maps. On average, I get about 2-3 maps per map I run. Sometimes a lot more, sometimes none.

As for quantity gear, it does make a decent difference. I don't have much, but I plan on swapping out a couple slots with more. I wanted to keep my progression gear until I could safely run >70 maps.

What skill is that tooltip dps for? Just curious.

I'm using Infernal Blow with that one. I'm currently figuring out what supports I need for it, but playing around with things like chance to ignite, elemental proliferation, melee physical, etc have all been fun. Running high physical with Molten and Tempest Shields is a must.

completed cruel with my domination marauder. This is the most fun build I've played - and certainly the most OP.

I rofl stomped through lunaris temple. When Kole showed up I had a large army that messed up his day along with my heavy strike. Even Piety wasn't very bad. Every time she'd summon monsters they'd become my minions too.

I'm currently breezing through act 1 merciless. Cleared fetid pool and heading to the big crab now. I do still die every now and then simply because I get dumb and plant myself in the middle of a fresh group hoping to convert them quickly - that is a deadly mistake when there is a rare mob with the "allies cannot die" affix.

I was actually making a Dominating Blow build, but tried out Cyclone and noticed my kill speed was insane so I used that instead. That was at around level 60, and I'm 78 now. 7 endurance charges and crazy leech shoots my survivability through the roof.

what do you do to get those endurance charges?

I haven't seen anything other than a piece of armor and a shout to generate them.

Does the second shout add charges on top of the first?

Yes. I actually use three enduring cries.

Completed merciless tonight. lvl 63. me and a spark totem guy did piety together. I died a couple times fighting her.

My lvl 60 2h Mara got wrecked in Merciless. That was a rude awaking. Rerolling to Shadow archer and seeing how being ranged treats me.

Not sure what build you are using but my marauder didn't even slow down until late act 3 merciless. Melee is doing well for me. I can do solo dock runs fine - even battling those damn spewing dogs ok.

3k at level 44? :( Trying a lightning strike 2H build with my duelist, only at 1.5k DPS at level 66. Although I'm more tanky with a lifesteal gem in there rather than more DPS. My gear is utter shit though...still doing docks runs in cruel to try and gear up.

My Facebreaker build is still a glass cannon. While my aoe damage is good, it's far better on single targets. I also have no form of real crowd control at this point.

1.5k dps is fine for level 66. You'll need to catch up a little bit in Merciless, but tanky survivability and resists should be your current goal.

My survivability is pretty damn good actually; the end goal for this build is to be running 7 auras, not that I can remember them all. Blood magic seems somewhat OP; I used to always run out of mana even running 1 less gem than I do now. Popping in blood magic I don't worry about mana any more, and it doesn't even seem to use much life.

what? It would take forever to kill mobs in merciless at that dps. 1.5k dps at level 66 sucks.

I'm not on every day and it's usually late night since I'm on Hawaii time but add me in game and if we cross paths I'll give you some stuff. I packrat all the rares I find so I'm sure I'd have some type of upgrades for you. I'm playing anarchy now but I do have characters in normal. Meanwhile use this site to search the forum for stuff to buy : http://poe.xyz.is/

It's low, but won't stop him from progressing. I can clear out packs pretty quickly at level 81 with ~2k dps FP. Though, it is used more to support my minions (which do a heck of a lot more than 2k dps combined). But if I need to toe to toe for whatever reason, most rare mobs up to level 71 can be killed without minions. Bosses, on the other hand...

Anyway, a new weapon and a couple leveled skill and support gems can turn 1.5k dps into 4k dps pretty quickly when you're talking about 2h.

I have a "good" (not awesome) mace and my default attack is 1896 dps. dominating blow is now up to about 6k dps and heavy strike is almost 10k dps before auras.. I'm lvl 63..

With your facebreakers and being level 81 you could easily be at 10k dps. Every tiny bit of "adds x physical damage" on your gear will increase your output a lot. With the right build I've heard of facebreaker marauders having over 22k dps once you get that unique helm that doesn't let you wear a chest.

Two different builds, sorry. My level 81 is a summoner witch (~2k dps freezing pulse). My Facebreaker maurader is 46 now (~3kdps infernal blow).

Thanks, I'll have to look at all that. I don't have much currency with which to trade unfortunately. Early on I may have blown some orbs stupidly. After this last stat reset I did go check out the boards; using this build I survive much easier and packs seem to go down easier than my low DPS would seem.

What weapon set are you specced for? 2h axe, mace, sword... ?

You can add me, too. Usually I'm on CrispyBits. I'm sure we can get you set up with a decent weapon between folks on the forums.

twisted - just pm'ed you. I don't have any 2H swords that are good but I'd be willing to give you this if it's an upgrade:

I do have better ones than that but they are too valuable to give away.

This is what I am currently using:

found the 5S maul, 2 chaos got the specs, and about 14 jewelers to 5L it. I've been pretty lucky 5L'ing stuff.

So, I'm finding that a well leveled poison arrow is a great way to "cheat" when you don't have a particularly great character. I've got a level 60 ranger, making my way through merciless right now, and am kind of scuffling. But, I found I was able to be all of the "bosses" in act 1 (Brutus, Merveil, etc) by hiding behind cover and popping out briefly to shoot a poison arrow at their feet. I can usually get one or two arrows off before they come chase me and then I go hide again and start over. It is a tactic without honor, but it's better than standing there and getting killed in three shots by one of these guys.

It's only 3-socketed, but i have a 2H sword with 327 top end, required level 57 if you want.

That would be awesome, thanks! I'm on Landragoran. Also, I hadn't played in over a week, highly inflated my character level...I was only 58, I'm now 60 but still only 1625 DPS.

Is picking up high socket/linked white gear worth it for trading? 4L boots/helms/gloves, for example. They don't seem as rare; I know a 6L is definitely worth it.

4L seems pretty common - I find them dropped on a semi-regular basis. 5L or 6L, definitely pick up as I've never seen one drop in my hours of playing. 5 or 6 sockets, but not all linked, might be worth something if they have some interesting stats attached to them, but probably not.

Picking them up for crafting is worth it if you plan on using it. Selling 4L items at lower levels isn't really profitable. It does make it really convenient to put together nice gear for leveling, though.

6S items are worth 7 Jewellers orbs raw at the merchants. Unless you're dead set on crafting or the base item is exactly what you're looking for, often it is better just to opt for Jeweller orbs.

the most important whites to be looking for at any level are any RGB 3L (= chromatic), 6S (=6 jewelers), and of course 5L / 6L. You can farm up quite a bit of chromatics fast if you pay attention in an xp/loot group. Other popular items are whites for chancing, glorious plate, occultist's vestments, etc.

I collected up every gold ring I found and after ~70 chancing them 1-5 at a time got a near perfect andvarius ring.

Don't use any orbs for "crafting." Save them and buy what you need. You'll regret it otherwise.

Thanks for this. I had vendored a 6S item (among a bunch of other stuff) and had paid no attention to what I was getting for the load. I was thoroughly perplexed when 7 jewlers showed up. Now I know...
