I just started playing this, anyone got tips? I have a feeling I’m really screwing up my abilities.

Just fully expect the first character (or even first few chars) you build wont be optimized on the skill tree. There will be a attribute reset with a future patch and you can just repath all skills then for free. Experimenting is how you find how you enjoy playing. Don’t sweat using a strict guide. That’s for later if you find you enjoy the game and want to progress through the very difficult post game story tiered mapping.

I feel like the only way to start the game is to follow a guide. Play something tried and true. Then branch off once you get the hang of maps and the hundred league mechanics.
