Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Yeah you can duels and have better crafting. For me dueling had about 5 hours worth of entertainment and crafting about 8.

I was able to upgrade my wizard off of prowlers with newly crafted razorspike. Also got some good monk gear as well but still have my 300k gear on my monk (haven't played in 20 days)

81 strength
227 int
64 vit
51 litres
35 allres
181 armor
5.5 crit

Steve! You'll be happy to know I have run speed boots now.

Only cost 400 million.

Damn guys, is inflation that bad now? If i recall correctly, i have 6 million golds, and my upgrades were all costing about 3-15 mil.

Damn those boot are quite nice a steal at only 400m.

Diablo Progress has you ranked at 332
332 Harkamus monk 243,347.87

....You have left me with nothing left to nit pick.......What are you trying to use one with everything on both Ice and Lightning:D...that is about as good I as I could get.

It's actually 247k damage. One of my rings has double damage mods, but only lists the average damage. It's something like 55-67 damage instead of the 33 - 55 that's listed. Something like that.

With cold, but you already knew that. lol. Crafting takes forever and a day to get perfect rolls. Still trying to get 6% bracers with AR, CR, 250+ dex, vita, and life regen. Necklace...yea that's gonna take forever. Prob crafted around 60 of them with no luck other than what I'm wearing now.

Gloves...quit after trying to make 75 or so of them, maybe 100. Will do gloves last.

It's the same. But once your gear passes a certain point, upgrades cost in the hundreds of million.

Fortunately, I sold a necklace I bought back in 1.0.6 that I paid 150 mill for, for 250 mill a few days ago. There's still money to be made on non-crafted necklaces since it takes a long time to get a decent roll crafting anything.

^^ So would you mind giving me a quick guide on crafting?

I imagine it's very similar to grinding out infernal machines...

Quick guide is to find the inferno MP level that you feel comfortable in where you can bypass trash mobs and just go for elite packs. You want to balance elite kill speed with difficulty. Obviously, mp0 is gonna be the quickest, but also has the crappiest drop rate for Demonic Essences. I used to do mp6 at 204k unbuffed. I went to mp7 at 229k unbuffed. The 247k is just brawling...not good for surviving in higher mp level since I lose life steal. This is as my monk of course. YMMV.

Once you figured that out, go get the checkpoint for Vault of the Assassins in act 2 (Desolate Sands wp). You have to be on the quest to kill Kulle for you to get the checkpoint once you zone in Vault of Ass (Yea I just said it). Figure out the map layout which changes, but is still pretty similar for each run. This way you don't back track a lot. What I do is go counter clockwise. You can go left and hit a dead end anytime you don't run into a 4 way intersection (the ones with the circle that you have to move around because you can't just go straight; you'll know when you see these). So when I can hit a quick dead end, I go there so I don't have to back track later on. Then I continue going counter clockwise.

Once you killed all the packs, portal out, and take the WP to Road to Alcarnus. Go to the camp and kill the elite pack there. Usually 1 pack, but sometimes 2. Don't go past the barrier or you lose check point. There are no packs past the barrier anyway.

That's usually a run for me. Takes me, I dunno, roughly 7 minutes? Never timed. I just go from pack to pack. Seems quick. If you want to do something else, port down to Black Canyon mines and run a circle. You'll usually find a few packs. There's one spawn point immediately north and west of the WP. The pack isn't always there, but often enough.

As far as what to craft, bracers should technically be the easiest to craft since you're only really looking to roll 6% crit chance. The rest is gravy. You're guaranteed your stat of choice (how high depends on roll, but at least 200, so that's not bad. Vit, resist, pick up, etc is gravy unless you need that stuff for your build. Realistically speaking, you'd want crit and at least single res IMO, which is only two modifiers that you need to luck out on. So bracers are the easiest.

After bracers, shoulders would be a great thing to craft unless you have a really good pair of Vile Wards. Shoulders can go past 340 single stat. Vile Wards can have a max of 300. I think crafted shoulders can get 340 single stat and still roll vita. Shoulders are great since you're only trying to get vita, res, single res (if you're a monk or just want to stack res). Not too difficult to roll a high stat roll with vita and res all. The other stuff is gravy.

Necklace and gloves are both the most worthwhile to craft, but also the most difficult to get all the rolls you want, since everyone wants crit %, crit chance, increased attack speed, average damage (for necklace), life on hit (for necklace), and possibly resistance or life regen. Gloves can roll trifecta and the other random stuff, like resist, vita, etc.

Cliffs: Bracers and shoulders for quick upgrades. Gloves and necklace for long term slot machine.

you pretty much just have to play the game demonic essence drops all over the place. My best run is MP4 from Ghom to Act 4 Rakanoth. I don't remember exactly how many demonic essence I got but it was a ton.

Mid bosses drop the Plan's you'll need but they can also be had in the auction house for cheap.

Did this for about 8 hours as a turbo monk with a sprint barb so we could cover ground crazy fast...Haven't crafted since.....Kind of waiting for 1.0.8 which will change monster density and hopefully allow for some act 1 grinding, I love act 1.

What steve said about playing the game. I merely picked VotA because it has such high elite density. There's usually over 5 packs in there alone. I think the most I got was 8 packs.

BTW, Demonic Essence drop is not based on number of NV stacks. You can have 0 stacks and still get Demonic Essence. Gobs can drop them too, as can events that give you an NV stack.

VotA is one of the few places where you can sometimes find two goblins on the same map.

Thanks dudes. Might farm up a roll on one of these new recipes tonight.

They're so cheap on AH that I would save yourself the trouble. But if you do want to find them, their drop rate increases a lot if you have 5 stacks and kill certain bosses like Maghda or Ghom. Ghom was the quickest IMO. Just do keeps til you get 5 stacks and then kill Ghom.

I did the Ghom to Rakanoth runs until I had 100 or so Demonic Essence then I went into the auction house and bought the plans that haven't yet dropped then started crafting. I only had a few that didn't drop mostly the amulet plans.

I like to do my crafting in big chunks so I waited till I had 100 demonic essences before I even started.

Also start picking up the square gems as getting a good amulet takes FOREVER and you'll need those.....Amulet is the most expensive part of the new crafting I've done at least 50 Dex amulets and still haven't found a usable one.

Thanks for the advice, but if I will need the materials to craft them anyway (which i'm assuming are Bind on Pickup), i might as well just play through some content. Do they also require the material you get from disenchanting legendaries?

The necklaces require 1 brimstone and 1 radiant square gem (I think that's the name). It's the tier above what you can pick up, so pick up all the flawless you find since you need the next tier. The other recipes require normal crafting mats. Exquisite and Iridescent.

If anyone is online and wants to run ubers i still have those 6 machines.... kettchxxii#1281

Ill work on my gear :(

are you going to be online in about 5 hours? I've got to grade papers but I know my two friends will be down to do a few ubers before we hardcore. I think we have about 5-6 machines, too.

Lol. You are either a teacher, instructor, or grad student.

Grading papers can take hours. I know.:eek:

professor and the new university I'm teaching at wants my grades from my T/TH class in on Monday!

When I was down at UC Irvine we didn't have to input our grades for at least a week after class (and we had TA's to read and grade them ;))

anyone still in grad school should stay there as long as possible
my paycheck was higher and the rent was lower :D

Meant to say prof. Ooops. I have a few years before I hold that title. I am enjoying grad school immensely...even if I get grunt work and have to grade papers.

Back do D3. Did the ubers group ever form. I can help.

he's in the game right now and I'm in the menu

I'm getting some dota in before my friends get off work
everyone usually jumps on around 9pm

Crashing for the night, thanks for the offers guys, I will try to hit you all up eventually. Upgraded my prowlers and swapped out the hell-fire. Substantially more dps. trying to use the overpower critical bonus, but find myself missing rend when grinding. hmmmph. Hark could probably comment on how important that extra exp % is in the helm and ring. not in a real hurry to ding 100, but the climb from 67 doesnt sound fun.

I got dragged back into this damn game with some friends. I beat inferno with my wizard and started farming for mats to better my gear. I don't understand how people are getting these amazing character stats. There are people saying they have 170k dps and I just don't see how that is possible. I cant get better gear without spending 50mil+ per piece than what I already have.

My wizard is spec'd with ice and I am up to 58k dps... I can beat inferno no problem and I beat it at MP1 and made headway into MP2, however I cannot go past that. I have heard people saying they are soloing act 4 at mp 8 and I just can't believe them.

WTF am I doing wrong?

Link your profile, you could probably break 50k dps with less then 1 mil total

Craft some of the new stuff. You should be able to get decent upgrades without too much effort. Then there are cheap upgrades on AH as well. A Skorn isn't too expensive these days.

I also rejoined just for a bit (friend too dragged me back in). Haven't played since Oct/Nov (when the level 63 set items were introduced).

Any new gear worth while? Or set items? I have level 60 characters of every class, but primarily stick to my monk. Only 60-70k dps, but 0 critical hit damage on my weapon, and no cc, cd, nor as on my amulet. Sadly, I can't replace one without the other, and I'm dirt broke. The rest of my gear it looks like I'm looking at 50 million per piece for barely any stat upgrades.

How is everyone looking at 50 million a piece upgrades when they're only at 60-70k damage? Depending on class you should be able to get 100-150k unbuffed for less than half that.

I mean where do these numbers come from? 50 mill...damn. I wasn't looking at 50 mill upgrades until I broke around 175k damage or so unbuffed.

My wizard friend got a 19k upgrade from a Witching Hour that you can get for a few million. I spent like 20 mill on my barb friend at one point to get him to 120k. DH friend broke 180k for less than 10 mill. This is all unbuffed.

Monk is expensive. I know. I play one. But it's not that expensive until you break a certain point past 200k unbuffed.

Link your profile, so we can see what immediate upgrades you can get.

Mixed and matched some more gear and this is what I have.

Pretty much found everything. I seldom use the AH, and all my money went into crafting the gems. My budget is about 2 million gold.

Obviously significant upgrades to my dps can be found with the weapon, amulet, and two rings. I don't really want to drop my resistances, health, or life regen atm though.

Well your in a bit of a sticky situation because pretty much everything you have will be upgraded eventually.

Your helmet doesn't have a good kicker + 16% gold
Armor has no all res
Gloves, amulet, bracers, and rings too low of stats
Sholders no vit
Shield will need replaced second weapon
Need Inna's temperance for your pants

Some choices need to be made about where you'd like to be in terms of synergy. You have a Low end Natalya's Reflection so could get a 150 Dex Natalya's bloody Foot print for about 1 million which will give you 7 critical hit chance in for combo.....But eventually that will require you to Upgrade your Natalaya's ring which will got 100+ million.

You could also pop in Inna's Belt and Pants which will give you full bonus which is pretty nice and it should up your damage.....But eventually you'll need to upgrade your armor and Helmet.

The safe none synergy upgrades that I'd start with are like this.

1. Play the game and get some Demonic Essence and craft a Amulet
2. Craft better gloves
3. Craft better Bracers
4. Inna's Temperance pants with Lit Res or Armor for about 1 million
5. Second Weapon search for Vit, Life per spirit spent, Life steal, Socket or 90+ crit damage. Should be able to fine 900 ish DPS for less than a million. The Vit and Life Per spirt spent will help with the loss of survivability from dropping the shield.....I am sitting on a army of fisting weapons I could drop you one. Or the other Shen long.
6. witching hour or Inna's belt if you want to go for the combo.
7. Hell fire ring.....could take days.

One thing that might help you is knowing that maximum effective health results from an armor to resistance ratio of 10:1. That's not to say that 1 resistance is worth 10 armor as some people conclude but rather that your resistance of 48x needs to be increased to 65x or your armor of 65xx needs to be reduced to to 48xx for maximum benefit.

You could, for example, lose the shield for an off-hand and/or change one with everything for a different passive

Are you including intelligence though? My total resists are ~700 with armor of ~6500.

For my play style, I do prefer a shield to dual wielding.

Here is an example of what you can get when crafting....to bad I couldn't give it too it as I don't use lighting.

Your intelligence should only be giving 16.7 resistance, not 167. You only get 10% of your intelligence toward resistance.

The problem, as I stated earlier, is that I need my current amulet due to my weapon. Just those two alone can shoot my dps up 100k+. But I don't have life steal (let alone loh) on my weapon, so I need the amulet for it's healing properties. I actually do have a somewhat high trifecta amulet, but I die pretty quickly with relying only on life regen. I've also crafted around 15-20 rings previously, and not a single one was useful. I'm waiting to replace the skullfire ring with the crafted one when I get the opportunity. For the most part, I'm content with the other gear I have. I can pretty much survive anything at the moment, I just don't want to take 20 minutes to kill elites though in higher mp levels. Naturally, I have some useless stats on certain pieces, but getting 6 of the correct stats without significantly harming a current stat is too expensive atm.

Well, remember double resistances on a few pieces also. My all resist isn't listed in the top 5 skills.

Wow...if it takes you 20 minutes to kill an elite pack you need to drop it down about 5 MP levels.

Not stating I fight in MP10. I tend to stick with MP5. MP6 I can pretty much handle, except for the Ubers and the time limit. The bosses aren't a problem, as I don't hit the time limit, but ZK / Siegebreaker Ubers are a pain to kill in time.

Just got done playing for the fist time in a while.....Nothing special just sold a few pieces of junk laying around in my stash....Have just under a billion gold now....been looking for upgrade for about 30 minutes now and coming up rather empty.
