Skyrim Mods - A Comprehensive List & User Support Thread

I don't see anything special about that preset. Hell, I think mine looks better but I may be biased. :)

Still, let me know if you guys want it added to the list. I've been waiting for some ENB recommendations to add.

If you want to add an ENB setting that works well for mid range computers you could look at RealLike ENB. I have been using for a month now and it works very well and is almost no FPS loss on my machine.

Thanks, I'll add it in later.

Has anyone ever seen it where NPCs sit sunken halfway down into tavern bar stools? I'm trying to find out if it is a common vanilla bug or caused by a mod I have. Check out this screenshot:

Here is my load order:

That doesn't look too comfortable.

A few days ago I made some 2560x1440 main menu screens if any of you want them (if so, then I'd need to upload the actual files):

I'm looking for better weather for Skyrim. I have Climates of Tamriel but there are some parts that are messed up a little. Anybody know of any other weather mods?

Funny, because I used RCRN for a while and it seemed to mess with the weather, IE it never rained/snowed. I switched to CoT because of this.

Same here, LOL. I didn't know if RCRN has has improved since I first tried it.

I would like to see a mod that just adds new cloud types.

And I finally made it back to Skyrim. I kept getting the endless loading screen bug when going from Solstheim -> Skyrim (it is a common bug). Now I can play. :)

Maybe I will have to wait for an update to CoT. Some trees and grass areas have a blue "glow" to them. Some bodies of water are static (waterfalls that aren't moving). However, the nights look alot better. It's really dark, I have to actually carry a torch or use a light spell. The daytime weather seems better, the rain changes in intensity from a light rain to a downpour, and the sun looks good. I think the transition from raining to a clear day happens too quickly though.

After installing a bunch of mods, I run into a "clinging" sound once in awhile when I'm in a house or Inn. It sounds like plates are clinging together. Rather annoying.

Is your player speed normal? Might actually be plates flying of off tables. I have seen it also from time to time.

Could be plates clinging together. Sounds like it might be a physics issue. Are you running at 60Hz refresh with vsync on?

DJ I really like that menu screen, you should go ahead and upload it for us. :)

How do I check this?

I don't know. I didn't see refresh rates in the settings or in the skyrim launcher. I have a 120hz monitor now, so I would like to change it to that if possible.

Changing the speed of the refresh rate directly effects Skyrim. It keeps it for time of day settings and other stuff. It is not like other games where it just plays more fluidly, they tied it to the game settings.
If you don't know anything about the player speed then it that is mostly likely not it. It is a setting you can change with some mods and console commands to make you run faster.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: dumb. Who the fuck would do that?

I've really enjoyed using this carriage mod which adds carriage services to all of the major cities in Skyrim: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8544

I started using this when I realized that fast traveling was ruining the game for me. Now, I try to avoid fast traveling unless I'm completing a quest. So far, it's made the game so much more enjoyable.

Bethesda. That's who. :)
Any idea what the benefit to doing it that way was? Why are more games not coded in this fashion?

Yea i used one like that too, although it wasn't that exact mod. Really made things more enjoyable. Unfortunately i turned it on and off or something and it ruined my save.

Refresh rate is a Windows setting. You'll want to run 60Hz refresh with vsync on for Skyrim. Running at a 120Hz refresh rate will cause all sorts of bizarre physics issues.

I'm so fucking frustrated with ENBs. Sure, I don't have to use them. I don't like the cold and bleak look that the vanilla game has. I've found several ENBs that produce great looking results during the day time ( crisp blue skies and not overly-dark shadows ) but at about 5:00 it gets pitch black out and I have to rest until about 8:00 am until I can actually do anything. And the ENBs that aren't pitch black at night look horrible during the day. Washed out colors and super bright lighting. White sky, no blue at all.

I'm willing to send $10 to someone who can produce an ENB that doesn't have pitch black nights and a beautiful blue and crisp day-time look. I really like the look of The Wilds during the day, but at about 6:00 it gets pitch black and I can't see shit.

You can save $10 by just fiddling with the ENB settings - namely the ones under the Environment category:

Try lowing DirectLightingCurveNight. DirectLightingIntensityNight can help too. And probably the AmbientLighting values.

I'm getting real tired of the pitch black too. Even overcast days make the characters look hard to see. And at night with overcast it gets so dark that something breaks down and everything is pitch black with pixels of gray everywhere. You can make out some shapes, but it's messed up. Turning on this "use original objects" setting helped with that bug. I don't know how much it shuts down ENB though.

I'll try what dj_2004 said.

I had the same issue with my own ENB config due to some changes in the newer, at the time, ENB versions. A couple minutes of playing with the settings and I was left with a very nice looking night and an unaffected day.

Plus, ENB is being constantly updated, and those updates can radically change the config you are using. So paying $10 now may cause you to be stuck with an outdated config in the future. Best to learn how to change these settings yourself so you can make something that is 100% customized to your liking and can be adapted into future ENB builds. The ENB in-game customizer issues real-time updates to the changes you make in it so it is easy to find out what the settings do.

Here is the Skaal Village main menu screen:

Let me know if you wanted the other one instead. :)

I don't know why Bethesda did it this way.

Thanks, I did mean the one with the book. When I first looked at the post that was the only one that showed up, the village one must have not loaded for some reason on my end. I'll try out the village one too though I think.

Does anyone else suffer from progressively dropping framerates? When I start a new session, everything runs really well, usually with a minimum of 60 FPS. About a half hour into the game things start to slow down, and by an hour, the game is basically unplayable (FPS around 30).

I don't think this is a memory leak problem as I can't find anything unusual about Skyrim's memory usage. Is this just a result of using a bunch of graphics mods with fairly low VRAM (1gb)?

Maybe another process running on the computer? Notice any issues with other games?. I have a pretty extensive mod collection and I can play for 4 hours non-stop with no issues. I do run some things from time to time to see if they make a difference, like ATTK(memory manager program for skyrim) and some times I will run the Razer game booster. I am not really sure if I notice that big of a deal though.
I have a 1gig video card also. I do have 8 gig of ram though with x64 win7.

1GB is pushing it with texture mods, depending on the resolution you run the game at and of the texture mods.

Are you running a lot of script intensive mods?
