The Witcher 3 announced, open world, mounts, etc video inside.

i will have time to finish the two first before its out!

yeah!

Yeah, the Prologue, Act 1 and half of Act 2 were sooo long and slow. I have played Witcher 1 multiple times but still those acts annoy me. :/

Quoting myself. If anyone who is unable overcome the Witcher 1s slow start, here is a rather detailed plot synopsis made by CDProjekt for Xbox360 gamers who are unable to play the Witcher 1 in the first place.

I doubt I need to say SPOILERS... :D
Pretty much only major thing it leaves out the rather heartbreaking (IMO) plot twist about Alvin, an orphan Geralt raises during the game for a while.

I quite like that video...it was on Xbox Live as promotional material for The Witcher 2 Xbox 360 version. It mentions The Wild Hunt within the first minute, too.

Open world? Eh...

I kinda prefer the non-open world nature of the Witcher series.

And I'm glad its the last game. Too many developers are more than willing to milk a franchise to death , games should have finality period.

Yes, it will be the last Witcher game. Geralt's story does have to end. It won't be the last CDPR game, though :)

The Witcher 2 was one of my favorite games... ever. If ever there is a game I will support with my hard earned dollars at the soonest possible moment, it is this.

BRING IT ON!

This sounds promising, looks like it might be time for me to finally fire up Witcher 2.

I have Witcher 1 in my Steam backlog. I always love open world RPG though.

I would preorder this today, at $59.99 and be content. The Witcher series is some of the best PC gaming (RPG for sure) has had offered the last few years and CDProjekt deserves to be paid at full price.

Is it just me or does it look exactly like Skyrim...?

Except for the fact that compared to a open world witcher rpg, skyrim looks like a barren open world rpg consisting of never ending fetch quests.

I am happy to see that the mobs don't lvl with you, i hate that.

Maybe, but if someone would have told me that these screens are from some Skyrim TC mod, I would have believed without question.

Not that I complain, I like norse style.

"This is the last part of the trilogy, in which there will be a great finale of the story. However, this doesn't mean the end of franchise," CDPR CEO Adam Kicinski told Polish Press Agency (translated by Eurogamer Poland.

"Franchise will be continued."

Ohh, very nice. All other reports are saying it's the last Witcher game. Something lost in translation or just inaccurate reporting?

"Further, they've announced that this, the ultimate game in the series, will also be the final Witcher game from the studio"

Says the press release email I got from CDProjekt news letter. My guess its just bad wording.

Thanks...I could not get through the first Witcher, but want to keeping playing The Witcher 2 at some point.

Screenshots of Witcher 3 look a lot like Skyrim to me. Which is not a bad thing, really.

Hoping this game is more gameplay and less cut scenes. Got to Chapter 2 in the witcher 2 and had to give up. So boring

By cutscenes do you mean dialogue? Because if you hate that then you shouldn't really be playing RPGs.

It is slow going at the start but once you get into the end of act II the game picks up steam and sucks you in.

Trust me, if your into these types of games it will not disappoint.

Son of a bitch. I'm in act 2 right now..... And I got bored as hell with the clay area that I quit..... Damn it, I don't even know if I can continue or if I have to restart because I think I forgot most of it.

the game continues to get more and more fun if you ask me.

i would give it another shot

Nope, I meant cut scenes

But, there is a little too much talking as well ;)

The Witcher 2 was a little too political. Even the developers say it in the announcement video. I am glad that they recognize it and strive to get back to the basics in the series.

On the defense of the politics thing, I thought it was refreshing even though I hate politics and politicians even more. You werent "saving the world" like every other RPG out there, you're just a simple Witcher drawn to the schemes of lords and would-be-lords. It was up to you if you went with the flow or decide to fuck it all in the end and concentrate on things important to you personally. There were big things happening in the background but you are nothing more than a chess pawn.

And I agree that it is indeed a cool way to make a game and story line, however, I don't need everyone's life story to get there I feel like. I mean I need information yes, but there is overdoing it imo..

It's a common theme in the two Witcher books I have read. The witchers state it very clearly that they are politically neutral and are only for hire in the matters relating to monster-hunting, however kings, nobles and others often see witchers as little more than mutant thugs who will do any dirty job for coin, and often try to employ them for jobs such as assassinations. As hard as Geralt tries to keep neutral and out of all political conflicts and general bickering, he gets pulled into it eventually.

CDPR has also stated that it is possible to completely neglect the main story in TW3, and doing so will have significant consequences. The world won't simply sit and wait for you to get around to it ala Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Skyrim.

Now that I have a better feel for Geralt's character, I'm going to replay The Witcher EE and try to make the decisions that he would be most likely to choose...then finally start The Witcher 2 now that I should be able to run it beyond 800x600. I can't wait for The Witcher 3.

I love how the political stuff kept pulling Geralt in and how he was so grumpy about it. There was always that tension throughout the plot where Geralt would grudgingly do what was asked. It just got a little hard to keep track of all the people and their kingdoms, especially at first when you hear about people and places before you meet them.

Its just you. You have been playing too much Skyrim.

Or not enough Skyrim. Even the models are just too different.

Its was the aesthetics I was talking about, not the actual graphics quality...

The Witcher uses Germanic and Scandinavian mythos. Skyrim uses more Norse viking mythos.
