Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Wooo! Beat Act IV Hell after stacking Amethysts and going for defensive skills/passives. Took a long time to beat the boss but that's better than dying in 2 seconds. Time to get my ass handed to me in Inferno.

edit: And lawl at the JC craft prices. 20k gold to xmute 3 squares into a flawless square? I'd rather spend 22k on 3 flawless squares in the AH.

Just finished the game on normal. Was a pretty fun game to solo on. I guess now its in to the harder versions..

Well I'd say that the sellers have so many squares filling their inventory and are therefore taking a small loss combining them and selling them for as flawless instead of having one of their 10 precious auctions only selling squares and making 4k gold.

I don't know; my highest char is level 31 and it's worthwhile for me to just buy squares.
 
The point of JC is to create the higher tier gems. The highest level gem that drops is 8th level. The gems go all the way up to 13 I believe. It's not possible to get the higher tier gems without JC.

That said, it takes an exponentially insane amount of gems and gold to reach the highest tier.

Bosses have higher drops rates for rares and such and later on nephalem valor makes bosses worthwhile

actually they want you to do the bosses still because they're fun. thats where nephalem valor comes in. they want you to play the area of the game you like the most. Personally for me thats Act3. So I would fight in act three kill some elite/champions and get some nephalem valor THEN kill the boss for good lewts.
 
Yeah, and after level 10, you need plans to craft the next tier, which only drop in Inferno. So not very many people will have the ability to make them.

About Nephalem Valor, careful with your action bar, I accidentally dragged a skill out of it while fighting a boss and lost my 5x stack of NV :( That is something I'd like for them to fix in the future.
 
anyone else having trouble logging in? I just added the mobile 'authenticator' application to my phone and while I can login fine to the website, logging in to D3 gives me Error 315300 (translating into "wrong username/password). Never asks me in the game for the authenticator pass. Is there a cooldown period that I'm not aware of, or is this a server issue?

I've been getting Error 33s and 37s all night (almost 1am on the east coast of Australia at the moment).

This is kinda why I'm just going to concentrate on Blacksmithing. It's expensive enough as it is and I think has a much wider "net" of items that can be sold/utilized vs gems.

I'm sure I'll eventually get around to JC as well, but not until I'm bringing in 100k-150k per run.
 
I was able to log in this morning. Started a new char. Is it wrong to name your female barb BBW?

I am wasting entirely to much of my life on this game right now.

As an aside I think the female Barb looks stupid. My wife selects things based on looks. Like her wow character had to be pretty and it was a warrior.

So when she clicked on the female Barb she was like "well I guess that looks like me in real life".

Even though it isn't true I just wanted to laugh, but it is one of those things you laugh at and then you are in the dog house for weeks.

By the way pretty sure Spirit flies boston to san diego super cheap :)

So, people on the Blizz forum are saying that Inferno mobs have been "nerfed" or tweak. Anyone here can confirm there's changes to the mobs in Inferno?

Obviously I'm not there yet. Inferno will be my end game. I'd be pissed if they made it too easy by the time I'm there, lol.

We still have one free flight to use. We are thinking about using it to go to Boston this winter, but we have 2 years to use the flight, so we might just save it.

Wife is a history teacher and has never been to DC, but I have many times. Hear Boston is the place to go over Philly and even New York (due to NYC being ridiculously expensive).
 
Nephalem Valor is pretty amazing. 75% magic and gold find for a half hour, refreshed every time you kill a champion pack. Valor mf/gf is NOT divided to other players if you are grouped with under-60s. I popped Hell Diablo with a full stack, got 2 rares and like 6 normals. Hell Cows was pretty profitable too.

What was it? 3am to 9am? Seems like pretty a acceptable downtime maintenance window. I guess I'm just more understanding than most of you guys. And I work during the day. I'm not up at 3am regularly. And guess what, most people aren't either.

Personally I would agree. I don't want it to be something that most player (including me) can easily beat just after several weeks of playing.

Anyone else having problems not getting back your items after they don't sell at the AH? Says, "can't send to stash". Wtf?

I didn't have any issues last night, but perhaps it's part of the maintenance they were doing today?

Nothing really to see over here in Boston, unless you like salt and snow everywhere in the Winter. Also awful traffic (I can imagine west coast just the same). Good bar scene though, other than that.

I agree with most of what you said but if this is true for you then you need to progress faster. Majority of the time I leveled to 60 I was getting drops for my level almost exactly or up to 4-5 levels above where I was.

Blur passive, frost nova, force aoe stun move, crystal skin move, and lots of vitality.

Just tried the "broken" wizard build and....it's pretty broken. :eek:

Well...can't wait to get off work and farm Butcher until it gets nerfed. No way do I want to try A2 with the build though, still gets destroyed there.

I use Diamond skin with extra damage absorb in Nightmare.. plus blizzard that has a chance to freeze plus nova and low cost ray of frost. All of this with plus dmg to cold when chilled or frozen = rape. Really good combo too if youre playing with another ranged
 
Diamond skin is pretty tight.

For the people saying that the range classes are glass cannons past nightmare I find this to be the case, except it seems like most Barbs that I team up with end up dying more so than Wizard. Quite a few Wizards I have played with have awesome melee/tanking abilities.

The barb is pretty underwhelming in comparison to everybody else especially in later difficulties. The monk is a better tank its retarded
 
Maybe they did nerf Inferno, or maybe it's the new gear I bought, but I went through Alcarnus again and I'm 1-shotting every mob here. Guess we'll never know!

Kind of goes back to what I was saying earlier, how I was like "It's fiiiine", then I see everything in action, and now I'm like "Oh...well...maybe they'll fix it?".
 
I really don't use Diamond skin in Nightmare. Up to Act 3 almost to Azmodan and haven't had too many issues. Some elite mobs are a pain but I get through it. I only really use it for bosses.

It's funny I can't remember my build but I know I have frost nova with the chance to improve damage after(something like that) the Force Wave one with improved damage rune, uhhh, the laser beam, what's it called disintegrate or something? I rune that with the split beam that does 40% weap dmg to addt'l targets. Blur, Glass Cannon and that Astral one.

I picked a few items last night and now I'm at like 4K dmg buffed. I use the magic weapon skill I think it's called with the improve damage rune.

Anyone else thing the Archon (sp?) mastery is pretty badass?

I tried using the Arcane Orb with improved damage, but it didn't suit me.

I love the Arcane Orb with imp. damage, it at most, 2 shots packs. I find it flying off into the ether a lot though, because enemies die so quickly that an extra one always flies away. Hah.
