Official [H] Star Wars:The Old Republic Thread

For how often the game goes down for maintenance, you'd expect a polished product. But naw, they want to just keep it as bug ridden as possible.

Most MMO's I have played have some weekly maintenance period, similar to WoW. EQ2 was probably the only game where it wasn't on a set schedule, and you could have weeks to months between maintenance sessions. This game isn't out of the ordinary for maintenance periods so far that I have noticed...

So I am on The Fatman server on the Empire side, and I swear I thought I saw a HARDOCP guild tag on someone's character but I can't remember if I was dreaming. :p

Is this true, because the guild I'm in right now is super lame compared to playing with fellow [H]ardians.

Not playin tonight but hit one of us up and we'll let you in. Does seem like interest is waning though

Yeah thought we would have enough interest to warrant both sides. But like someone has said in Genmay...most of us aren't kids anymore lol...we have wifes/jobs etc...that we can't just commit so much time to an MMO...

We are doing decent on the Republic side though, we have "33" but a couple of them are Alt's for the lvl 50 guys...

We only have like 6 50's. but as time allows maybe we should try and organize a few 'showdowns'?

This is one of the reasons I can't play MMO's anymore. It started to feel like a partime job instead of a fun stress release. This is why i'm hoping GW2 will be able to quench my RPG thirst. Playing mindless FPS's is just killing my love for gaming.

Lol I am down...we actually only have about 6 lvl 50's also...The main problem with at least me though, is that I don't have any PvP gear....like ANY...lol I have been lvl 50, and I havent been able to find an operations group yet. Granted I haven't been trying toooo hard, but I have logged in for about 30 minutes...try and find a group...then login to an alt.

Yeah, if people aren't good at balancing life/games then MMO's aren't a good place to head lol...

You might want to not try GW2 either if you have trouble balancing time... ;)

We started Raiding on Sunday and we're almost done with KP now, just have to down the last two bosses. We pugged four people but had a great group. Had a little bit of problems with frick and frack. Bonecrusher we one shotted... Overall feeling?

I think this is the way to go in raiding. You get some easy mode bosses to get a feeling for the raid then ramp up intensity.

I am currently pvping on my alt inq and having a blast. At lvl 12 I made it through the whole wz with 1 death. The death only happened at the last few seconds.

I just impulse bought this on amazon after seeing the discount link yesterday. damn you people.

Same here, my trooper is 50 and just sitting there right now have been working a few alts both imp and pub side. Once we have a healer and tank at 50 we should be able to get a group together.

I'm having tons of fun in pvp with my sorcerer, might start the jedi version soon. I don't know if i could be a healer tho, goes against my warlock self :)

Yeah, even better than that you can get the water off of Tatooine, take it up the mountain on Hoth and not continue the line to get the magenta Adegan crystal and instead keep the full out of combat heal thing and repeatedly heal yourself for 8k+ by taking off and reequipping all your gear. Probably gonna get fixed, but it's an easy way to get 2.5k and 5k healing medals.

What? A bug? What's that? You should be banned for exploiting a perfected system you game ruining hacker you! ;)

Does anyone else's graphics look noticeably worse after the patch today? I reset my client_settings.ini and it hasn't helped. It seems like the gamma is too high and the models look worse, but resetting options in game or in the ini don't correct it.

Game doesn't look different at all.

With either my Sith Marauder or my Smuggler, I have more trouble with the stupid Sith Sorcerers and the Assasins than any other class. The Smuggler has an easier time with it, but they are still tough to kill. With my Marauder I can only seem to kill them if their damned knock back and stun powers are in cool down and I can get in close before they use their force lightning attacks, or the Jedi equivalent rock throwing or whatever. Assuming all these conditions are met, I can tear them apart, but I can't have some of my abilities in cool down either or I won't be able to deliver enough punishment to them.

New drivers completely borked it for me.

I was able to load in after a installation of the 295 driver, but i had extreme trouble anytime I zoned.

Then, I was unable to get the game to even start, so I had to roll em back.

Interesting... ya.. seemed actually worse with the 295 on my MSI GTX580... maybe I will roll back as well.. or maybe its the game.. think Ill try BF3 first and see how its there...

New cat drivers fuc*** my game. My screen split in half twice now. The left side was actually the right side and the right side was the left side. wtf

Which Smuggler AC are you playing?

I swear the gunslinger smuggler's are pretty underpowered 1vs1...I mean group wise I have some nice AoE's....but PvP is pretty bad. The only way I can really win is if the other person's CC's are in cooldown also...

I swear I have 2 CC's, and one of them is a End on Damage. So I can really only CC someone once so if they interrupt it or end it early I have really no CC, lol. And while I am PvP'ing I swear I get CC'd like 3 times and my health is 3/4 taken away before I even get to push a button...

I feel like a healer when I am playing my gunslinger in that I have to hide...lol

Put out AoE, run away, if someone is chasing me I can usually hit them with some damage before they get in range. But 99% of the time they just CC me 3 times and I can't do crap...except on one of them...and my health is at 1/4...

The only way I can really do damage in a crowd setting, is if I have a healer. I can tear up alot of people if I have a healer healing me. That is about the only good thing, but sucks having to count on someone else to keep me alive.

Maybe I am playing the class wrong, or maybe it is just suppose to be this way. I just wish we had more CC interupts or more CC's, that is pretty much it lol..

I've got a gunslinger. 1 on 1 isn't that bad, though I've not played that much PvP with the character. Though gunslingers can give my Maurader lots of trouble due to the damage they dish out. I've managed to solo kill a few people with the smuggler though. While they might be a little under powered in PvP, they aren't as bad as the Sith Warrior classes or Jedi Knights. They've got the shortest end of the stick in PvP. Huttball is the worst. We have few AOE, and what we do have is pretty weak, no knock back ability, and we can't run like the Consular's and Inquisitors can. In Hutt ball the team with the most Consulars/Inquisitors always wins.

My Shieldtech BH is 50 and in almost a full set of Champion. He's a blast to play WZ's. My Merc BH is 33, and deals great damage, but isn't as fun in WZ's yet (Doesn't have his full bag of tricks) I'm torn on what to try after the Merc is geared tho.

I need some money making tips. I just had to auction off half my bank just to repair. I'm a 50 Juggernaut. I have Artifice, Archeology and Treasure Hunting.

Started running hard modes this week and did our first raid, Eternity Vault, yesterday. Problem is I don't get enough money from these to cover my repair costs. And after hitting 50 and buying all my recipes and training i'm just flat broke.

I'm sending my companions out and auctioning all I can but it's not bringing in much.

Check out some of the lower level gemstones missions from Treasure Hunting...basically, anything "abundant yield"...and see if it's worth doing them. On my server, the lower level purple gemstones are selling for almost as much as the grade 6 purple stones, but because they take less time, it can be a bit more profitable.

I know the cheaper archeology stuff and treasure hunting stuff is selling for 10k+ for stacks of 20 on my ah. I can sell Rubat Crystals for a grip load. Wind Crystals or Wind fire whatever they are from treasure hunting are NEVER on the AH. Usually I can get 15k for 4-5 of them. Check your AH to see what is always up and what isnt. I don't bother to sell silks from underworld training anymore on my AH, its flooded and worthless. Metals though sell like candy. Selling stacks of 20 Grade 4 for 11k and Grade 5 Underworld metals for 20k

I never bought Artifice schematics for anything I couldn't use, or things that wouldn't have brought my skill level up before I hit 400. I didn't buy a bunch of lightsaber and relic schematics because I know I can't use them without the biometric crystal alloy which can only be obtained via the hard mode flashpoints or operations. And these items pale in comparison to the Champion PvP, Rakata, and Columni gear relics, or the lightsabers these gear types offer. So I saw no point in them anyway. Also, I never send my people out on missions unless I need something at this point and even when I was leveling those skills I tried to keep at least 20k in the bank at all times. Sometimes I held off on buying skills until I had enough money to buy them all and still leave me with enough credits for gear repairs, ship fuel and taxi fees.

Managing money in a game is like managing it in life. You need to make sure you have enough for what you need to do and not buy frivolous crap or spend it unwisely. I've rarely if ever purchased gear in the game. And when I did buy say the dancer's outfit for my female companions, I made sure that I was flush with cash before doing so. Now at level 50 if I don't have at least 200,000 credits at all times I feel like I'm broke.

Money making tips for lvl 50s:

1. Do your Ilum dailies.
2. Do your Belsavis dailies.
3. ???
4. Profit.

Completing all of the dailies on these planets once a day will net you ~250k credits a day. Or 150-200k if you skip the heroics.

Well that doesn't help me make money.

I didn't buy all the artifice plans for stuff for me, I bought them so I could supply my guildies. If my only concern was for myself then I wouldn't have gotten them all.

But even if I hadn't it would only be a matter of time before that money was gone. I need to generate income.

I haven't purchased any gear while leveling. Certainly no frivolous crap. All my stuff is from drops or quests or commendations.

Well buying them for your guild mates is probably what put you in this situation. That all adds up over time. Space battles can generate income, as can PvP. Short of that, I don't know what to tell you.

I don't really think there's any point in trying to make money while leveling up, as it seems to increase exponentially as you level. What takes you 1 week to earn at level 20 takes you 1 day to earn at level 35, and 1 hour to earn at level 50. As Archer above me says, don't spend money on useless crap, as the gear from quests is more than enough to level up comfortably, and you can easily buy all of your skills and speeders and recipes as you level up.

Where do you get the dailies at? On ilum all I can find are the flashpoint dailies. Are there planet dailies?

Go farm lvl 1 and 2 mats and post them in GTN for two days. There's a lot of rich 50's out there that want to power level their alt's crafting. In my server I can easily sell stacks of 100 from 15k to 25k. Sure it may be boring work for 2-3 hours but then again you wouldn't have to worry about repair bills. If anything the low lvl mobs in your way are an annoyance than actual hindrance.

99% of the people complaining about money issues, dont run their dailies. You cant expect to raid or do hardmodes without completing your dailies. It's very simple

Didn't know there were dailies. The only time i've been to ilum was to run flashpoints. I knew it was also a PvP planet. Had no idea there were dailies.

Didn't know Belsavis had them either. Since there is no way to filter out old quests from showing on your map I figured the ones i've seen for belsavis were just old quests from leveling and not dailies.

And I wasn't complaining, I was asking.

Dailies are done on Ilum and on Belsavis. Additionally you can run hard mode flash points and there are space combat dailies as well. If you do enough of these things, money won't be a problem for you. (PvP also gives you credits.)

Space and hard modes don't give enough credits. Not by a long shot. And i've been running both. Space missions almost every day since I got my ship and hard modes just this week.
We got some great gear upgrades this week and learned a bunch of fights so there will be a lot less dying and thus fewer repair bills. So if I can find the time to get some dailies done this week i'll be able to stay on top of things.

Dailies i'll start doing. Problem is my quest log is full of old quests from planets that can't be abandoned so now i'm going back to clear those out so i'll have room for the other dailies.

Where the heck are people wasting the 100,000 of credits that space missions and daily questing gives?
