Well for e-book it really doesn't matter. You can load the kindle android app on the nook and the experience really won't be significantly different.
It's 20% faster, has twice the memory, twice the storage, and comes with a microSD slot so you can add more storage. The slot will also make it easier to root.
Even just getting it as a standard reader, B&N uses the standard epub format for books. Amazon uses a proprietary format. Nook will also read more formats than the Fire.
If it's only for reading, then maybe one of their regular e-readers instead of a tablet.
Same, but sub the ipad for transformer. I'm selling the transformer, no question.So...after a week of use I'm in love with this device. I have completely stopped taking my Ipad around with me. At work, I have my Fire on the desk . I use PULSE to keep up with all my tech related news. I use it for my email and I use it for web browsing. This morning I downloaded a movie on it and took it to the gym. Did cardio while watching. If fits in my coat pocket. It also finds my Nexus S wifi hot spot right away. So far I cant say enough about how much I love this.
She will still use the wifi and probably a few other apps. But it is mainly the e-reader ability. I'm having a hard time separating the 2 for a non-techie person. So the ability and options available for the e-reading and books is what I'm going on.
For anyone reading this is a false statement. Do your homework.
given recent reviews pretty happy I grabbed the Nook Tablet instead of the Fire for the wife. Seems amazon kinda cheaped out on the fire parts went very generic. Amazon gonna launch 2 new models in 2012 it looks like with bigger screens.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this... could you be more specific?

I have a few quick question:
3) can the Kindle fire functions well without connecting to the internet?

I've decided that I love my KFire so much that ... I have to return it for the Nook Tablet. I really need the 16gig and expansion slot. Just no way around it. I've yet to have a boring shit since I've got the damn thing.
I read somewhere that even though the Nook Tablet has 16gb of storage you can only use 1gb for apps and games. Can anyone confirm this?
Only 1Gb for Non-B&N storage. But it's got a slot for sd card. Just use that.

That's incredibly lame of them to restrict almost all of that space for B&N content.
I've never had an Android device before. Is rooting similar to jailbreaking where when you jailbreak, your phone looks like nothing's changed? Rooting a Nook Tablet would still keep the Nook's Android OS, just with more flexibility? Or will it be vanilla Android?
So, you can root a device and never know the difference in everyday use yes. Rooting a device is pretty much the equivalent of jailbreaking the iOS devices yes. It allows you to run unsigned "unofficial" code on the device. Most people do it because you can do a lot more with your device if the apps you get have access to root (think highest level administrator account level access). It of course does open up a device to be vulnerable to malicious code as well, so it is recommended for people who won't install a bunch of junk apps, random apps, the type of people who don't click on stuff just because it says you can get something for free.....you know....techy type people who know how to spot a scam.
There are some extremely useful apps that require root to run. Titanium Backup is one
Perfect. I think I'm settled on Nook Tablet then. 16gb + SD + unlimited apps access for $50 more than the Fire is a no-brainer. This would be a Christmas gift for my SO. She likes the way Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire looks. I was just making sure rooting them won't change that.
Thanks for the replies!
Damn, after 8 pages I still can't make up my mind about owning one....![]()
@Happy Hopping. If you dont have Wifi are you just going to transfer your documents to the device over usb?...Im sure a regular Kindle will display a PDF file...correct me if Im wrong here guys....so you could go the cheaper route.
won't that be too small for your eyes? I assume you mean portrait mode?
