BTW I just got a 25% off code for my birthday that I used on the BF3 preorder. So mayybbee if you forgot that your birthday was tomorrow you too could have a code ;).

i have that code aswell but im too lazy to cancel my preorder and re preorder it so looks liek my code will be wasted.

Ya know, something that I didnt see anybody comment on that was in the Alpha was that there is going to be a stealth mechanic to the vehicles which im curious to see what it effects. In the alpha, at the end of the round where it showed progress on vehicle unlocks, all the other vehicles except the one we had access to showed the next unlock was going to be a stealth unlock. I wonder if this means that it will take longer for anti-tank missiles to lock or make you invisible to the 3d spotting.

I'm curious as well but I think I saw it as a perk for choppers. Not sure though. Doubt stealth could really be all that special cause really how do you hide a 30 ton killing machine rolling around shooting off 25mm rounds? Bradley speaking.

Maybe it'll strap some bushes on it and such? Which would look awesome in an urban setting. :D

Hmm, maybe that was the burning bush Moses was talking to? "Hee hee, see if you can get him to march around the desert for 40 years!"

MW3 trailer.....they are plagiarizing almost with the pulsating music nearly being identical with BF3 trailers

First thing I noticed when I watched the trailer was the pulsating music that is very very similar to what BF3 has in their trailers. Kotick has a chip on his shouldders about BF3 and they know that this is their last hurrah for the current game engine and I think they know that the next COD MW game will have to be updated to modern times.

Who am I kidding? Kotick will continue to make COD games using the same outdated engine until it stops selling over a million copies.

ps, I can't believe people are willing to pay $60 for a reskinned 2007 game.

OMFG, I just noticed the MW3 box art.....

omfg........

Is it me or does it look like shit?

Being old and looking like crap doesn't mean it's optimized. Black Ops runs like arse on most modern computers.

This. I made the mistake of getting BLOPS. It still runs like total shit. A DX9 game using a game engine that has been out since 2007 should run tip top on my system.

Yeah yeah, all of the apologists come out of the woodwork talking about "engine is updated from back when it first came out!"...bullshit, Source has been updated from the original Source and it's top notch and runs just fine. And looks better than the original Source. I noticed no difference between MW1 and Black Ops. Matter of fact, I think it looks worse in a lot of cases.

Is that the really the box art or the poster art?

I copied that from the gametrailer link I posted in the post above. Kotick and company must really have their dicks itching over BF3. They are now playing defense because they know that they have competition now. Just look at E3 and what happened there. MW3 didn't get any kind of award or recognition. I am sure Kotick went into E3 thinking that MW3 was gonna be the "rah rah rah" of the convention. But everyone knew going in months ahead that BF3 was the one that was gonna rock everyone's world, not the same old retread of MW games. And Kotick getting snubbed trying to get into trying BF3 at E3 was the best part of the whole fucking convention :D

Im hoping BF3 wipes the floor with COD but i won't call it a win for BF3 till the games are out and the sales numbers for COD are shit lol. Unfortunately, with mainstream gaming, the masses of retards and young gamers outnumber us more refined players :p

It's hard to expect anything to outsell CoD. People buy CoD because it's called Call of Duty, end of story. BF3 had a big year at E3 though so they might come close, who knows?

I don't see why this game vs. game competition is important. How does COD selling more affect your enjoyment of BF3? It isn't even a situation where you won't be able to find people to play with or that BF3 will become a financial flop preventing future sequels.

I still think CoD will outsell BF3 at least 4:1 overall.
I enjoy both and pre-ordered them myself.

I use to pre-order COD games until I realized how useless it was. They don't give you any incentives and it isn't like the digital copies are going to be sold out on day of release.

I've never bothered with this argument around here because it just turns into angry yelling way too quickly. I'm not a fan of bashing MW3 even where it's popular. As far as I'm concerned there's only one reason to care about it if you don't like it, and that is its influence on other games. If MW3 did significantly better than BF3 I'm guessing any future Battlefield game would feel just a little bit more like CoD than the last did. I HATE what CoD has done to the fps genre, but I'm still not going to go after people for enjoying it.

I don't think DICE/EA will go the CoD route. The only reason it sells as much as it does is because it's different in multiplayer. As Homefront, Medal of Honor, and countless others have shown, CoD clones don't sell all that well compared to BF2 and BC2. The one exceptions is when it comes to singleplayer, as CoD has already shown it's influence in the fact that BF3 is even including one.

QTF.

I think it's safe to assume BF3 will be the better game given how rushed and dysfunctional the development of CODMW3 has been (half of IW jumping ship, unproven developer now involved, zero improvements to anything as was caught out by gamespot's E3 stage demo)...that's enough for me, really.

I don't think that's the issue, but it's really a matter of, if I was a COD fanboy who didn't know any better, I would want someone to tell me COD sucks and BF3 is much better, to help me out. I think we just want to help COD fans see there's something better out there, as I get the impression a lot of these guys don't know.

Also a matter of, it's kinda offensive the makers of COD make billions for rehashed crap. I generally knock anything I think gets obscene amounts of money while offering little in return, even if my personal situation is not intolerable because of it or I'm not really affected by it. *shrug*

I think EA is betting on total sales across all platforms. My expectation is that it won't outsell COD, but it won't be as bad as 4:1 overall. I bet BF3 outsells CODMW3 on PC 3:1 and I also bet it sells twice as many copies as BC2 on PC. It will be on the console side where BF3 takes a beating.

I think that too, unfortunately
I for one am not buying MW3, which is something because i have bought every other CoD, expansion and map pack. I am stopping now, they can suck my balls until they stop being cheap lazy dicks and get their shit together.

Dead Island, BF3 and Skyrim will be taking up all my time to even think about MW3s existence anyway :) .

Am I the only one who doesn't care? In fact I hope the kiddies stay with CoD, leaves those who enjoy playing as a team to enjoy the better game.

I don't really care as well. All I care about is that BF3 is as fun as BF2.
I play CoD for some quick fast paced action and the BF games if I want some team based strategic gameplay.

Wow has this thread been all over the place. First it was all about BF3 then it went into an argument about Valve and Origin now it's a dick waving contest about COD.

I like visiting this thread to see if there is any more news about BF3 and for the last week or more its been everything but what the title says.
The sad part is that if this was a COD thread it would have gotten closed by now for not staying on topic for this long.

So does anyone have any new news on BF3 or are we just adding BS just to keep this thread alive and on the first page?

Looks like we may have new screenshots: http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3/images

Damnit, I want to see some screenshots or videos of jets and helos :(

Also, I noticed on their official forums that the topics and message count on the PC part of the forum is 5-6 times more than the console versions :D. I'm gonna go see how much whining there is going to be in the console threads about it being 30fps and lower graphic settings and see if I can troll a bit there ;)

EDIT: wow, reading the xbox threads...boy oh boy how people play console games and complain about the cost of PC gaming and then we see threads like this: multiplayer COST
And...."I believe that BF3 should have character customization because it would be nice to maybe change his or her vest or the camo they are currently wearing." <---that's just lol., Go back to CoD dumbass. This isn't a third person shooter

Selected quotes from one of the PS3 threads:
"No one cares about pc bro. I have a PS3 and can care less if its a amazing game on the pc lol. Pc games that are not card games like hearts and poker are irrelevant to me because I cant have fun playing a game like BF3 on a pc." wow

"Just imagine if BF3 is a PS3 exclusive game. It would be a much better game than what its going to be. " even more wow

Guys im about to pre-order it on origin right now, just a question. I know there are a bunch of pre-order deals going on and what not, is everyone going to have to launch this game through origin ? Even if you have the retail disc ?

-- Im concerned because of the friends list situation. Is there going to be in-game freinds list you can invite from or join you're friends games from? Or is everything going to be done through origin ?

Actually, the friends list and the ability to join friends will be able to be done through the battlelog. Though as I said earlier in the thread (easy to miss though) it appears that Origin DOES have a Steam-like overlay and Origin is required to launch the game, just like Steam.

Actually, I posted a link to one of the battlelogs that doesnt neccessarily reveal anything new exactly but it does say that its going to take about 10 times longer to unlock all the new stuff compared to how long it took you to unlock stuff in BC2..or maybe it was BF2..regardless, its going to take a LOT longer to unlock everything...which may be interesting.

Sounds good, thanks.

I want to pre-order BF3, but I am gonna wait until the last minute to see if it might go on Steam. I am a pro-steam guy, but I doubt I will be buying it from Origin. If I can't get it from Steam I will most likely go with the cheapest digital distributor that I can find. I have always had good results with D2D so I might go with them. I have no problem with a competitor to Steam, but Origin isn't a competitor to Steam not by a country mile and I don't like making it easy for EA.

Based on what I've seen I don't believe it will ever go to Steam unless Steam changes some policies about updates and DLC.

How in the hell I missed that little tid-bit of news I'll never know. Awesome! :D
