Will we ever see a badass PC online version of the great Twisted Metal? I heard someone bought the rights.

It will be the only thing that would ever make me a buy a PS3 if not.

Loved the first one, but never could get into any of the sequels.

On a similar note, I would kill for a new Interstate '76/'82 game.

Interstate '82 was awesome. Oddly enough, I actually purchased Interstate '79 after, because '82 ran like crap on my computer. Both were fun.

There was twisted metal 2 on the PC. But that wasn't so good (the graphics were actually better on the PSone...)

But it's made by Eat Sleep Play, which is a sony funded company, headed by David Jaffe who made the series apart from III and IV (which weren't so good).

Twisted Metal I & II were great, than god awful 989 sports got a hold of the franchise.

Twisted Metal 2 was my favorite game ever (split-screen gaming with my buds was crazy fun), followed closely by WipeoutXL. The original Playstation's golden years are unsurpassed for me. 3D gaming was so new and exciting, especially in the context of my life at the time, in which a lot of other new and exciting things were taking place as well. Ah . . . memories.

Really, you didn't like TM2? That is one of my favorite games of all time.... however, I got TM3 and it may have been the worst game (and biggest disappointment) ever. It is the only game I ever returned.... just awful. Different developer, I think.

TM1 and 2 were great, so was Vigilante 8, god damn I wish I didn't sell my PlayStation and games

Sony's pushing the next one as a big PS3 exclusive, so I don't think it'll be showing up on the PC for a while.
TM2 was my favorite, but it really did have a lot of issues with the mechanics of being able to freeze/attack/re-freeze/etc. sequences. Certain vehicles only had to hit you once.

Can we emulate it on PC when it comes out? I would love to get a little group playing PC's.

I honestly don't remember the diffs between versions now but I bet I could still drop a freeze on someone if I had the controller in my hand!!

Oh man that split screen multi P gaming was the best! We were so happy for hours and hours with just ONE HALF of a 25" T.V.....lmao...

A jacked up Twisted Metal game on the PC made with the PC in mind would be an instant day one buy for me. That would be incredible.

I guess thinking back on it, TM1 and 2 were both good. Then there were a bunch of sequels which all sucked.

I cant wait for the new one on the PS3. David Jaffe the original creator of the franchise is working on it. It looks incredible.m really phyched about the 2 player spit screen online mode. The only reason bought a PS3. As for putting a Twisted Metal game on the PC....sure It would be great but I dont ever see it happening. Besides its great on the Playstation and thats were I'd like it to stay.

One of the things Ive always wanted to do in a Twisted Metal game though is to design and build your own vehicle and armaments. That would be sweet.

Which would probably only happen on a PC. But I guess if you'd like to see it stay on the PS3, you're willing to do without it... ?

That's not true at all. The PC version had Glide support, and looked great compared to the PSX version, if I remember right.

Yeah... I think DeathPrincess is spreading some FUD.

I have played the PC version of Twisted Metal 2 quite extensively (still do for visual comparison's sake), and can assure you that the PC version offers both higher resolution (selectable) and higher quality graphics. Perhaps you (DeathPrincess) are thinking back to your childhood, blowing up cars on the good ole' CRT (raster scan, technicly, I suppose...).

I'm not going to dive into specifics, as those of you who care already know, but a CRT display allows for an extremely low resolution to appear at a much higher quality, seemingly 'upscaled', when compared to the traditional pixels of LCD's that everyone is familiar with today...

Anywho, the highest resolution supported by TM2 PC is 800x600, and it looks much nicer than the PSX version. There is also the option to set the resolution to a 16:9 mode, 720x480 I believe, but that doesn't seem to work on my laptop... I'd have to look it up later.

Now if you want to argue just for arguments sake, the PSX version of the game may have higher quality graphics in one area, 3D (stereoscopic). Try as hard as I might, I was unable to get TM2 for PC working in 3D stereo... But I was able to get many emulators to work in 3D, including those for dreamcast and PSX... So whatevs...

Now, for those of you interested, there was also a Twisted Metal 1 PC game way back in the day... But unless you like gaming in virtual machines, and gaming on beta/broken software, its best to just leave it at that.

As for netplay... Twisted Metal 2 PC works great via LAN (If I got it to work once, I think it's great). I've had a few lanparties where we have done just that. Using software such as xlinkkai (I forget which we use atm), you can even play online with fellow TM2 enthusiasts...

Unrelated:

If you guys enjoy other classic games from the era, HydroThunder was also available for PC.. as was Turok and Turok 2. :)

That is tempting to mess with TM on a PC but at 800x600 I am afraid i will destroy my good memories of it!

Maybe some day someone will come out with a PC game very close to it.

We can only hope!

I vote that we get some insane game-making goddess to create us a fan-made version based off of the 4A engine... and name it Twisted Kettle...

At least, that's how I assume it'd go down.. :p

1 and 2 were the best for me. the first one was my first ps1 game as well. played it till I got bored! loved the last stage too.

Twisted Metal 1 and 2 were loads of fun. I tried 3 and really wasn't impressed at all. I never bothered to try 4. A new PC game along those lines would be great.
