Microcenter prices on sandy bridge

According to the advertisement, the new i7's are one per customer at MC so I wouldn't worry about people hording them.

The products are available online on MC, but I can't seem to add to cart. It says "Product No Longer Available". Now, is it out of stock already from people reserving or we have to show up in person?

Probably have to show up in person. Call in the morning.

I just realized there's no point in buying from Microcenter anymore.

The HIGH END $80 in savings that I'd have for:
2500k - $179.99
asus p67 pro - $189.99
$370 vs $450 (estimated high for other retailers)

Would be lost simply by buying in California (9.75% tax rate. + Gas cost of driving. $15 each way) makes it not worth it at all to go to microcenter.

Some cost analysis I've been doing.

I'll just be ordering from directron or amazon to avoid getting taxed. Shipping is way cheaper overhead.

I don't see a category for 1155 socket chips on the mc site.

The MicroCenter website is taking reservations for in-store pickup of the processor now. Got mine reserved! Yay! The MC in Orange/Tustin had 8 in stock (2600K) when I reserved...

Got mine reserve too, but only for the CPU. I tried to do the bundle #2 for the 2500k and asus p8p67 but my store don't have the mobo in stock. You think I can get a rain check when im in the store for that deal? If not, I'll just get it from Amazon later to avoid tax and have free shipping.

You save 30 overall with the microcenter #3 bundle, but it's not worth driving 60 miles for me to get. I'm going to frys tomorrow and having them match the 2500k for 180 which they said they should be able to do since I will be buying a mobo and memory. If not, I will probably buy it then take it to customer service and use the low price guarantee.

You mean that it probably doesn't make sense for YOU. You live in the ghetto part which has to pay more taxes. I can get the 2500K + P8P67 for $326 which is a lot less than any other store I've seen. Maybe $2 worth of gas also (roundtrip). Sorry.

MC has the cheapest price for the 2500k hands down, even after the taxes and gas money. SB @ MC $200 compare to Amazon with no tax and free shipping $235. I saved $35. Edit: Newegg just lower 2500k's price to $225 and free shipping but has taxes. Tiger Direct just lowered its price for the 2500k to $230.I haven't check out Frys yet though. So in the end MC is still the better deal.

I put in a reserve for local pickup in overland park, ks. Now the k processors are showing out of stock. I hope I got mine reserved in time.

What do you mean by the ghetto part exactly? The entire east bay is 9.75 percent, and other counties are as well. Where are you getting the bundle for 326? That looks like the non pro for that price.

Interestingly enough when I go to the item page it says out of stock, but when I do an add to cart, it shows 8 in stock still... kind of odd.

Didn't even see the reservation option. I was searching them under "Processors" on the left side, and wasn't getting any 1155 stuff. Seems like a lot of sites have the products listed, but not correctly indexed into their categories, so you need the right URL to find them. I wonder when the 2500k will be back so I can reserve mine.

This could be a huge mess. I don't know if they couldn't get more quantity or didn't think they would sell this many, but I think there are going to be some frustrated folks tomorrow. I hope I'm not one.

At first I couldn't add the 2500k on the item page too. I went to the bundle link on the bottom. Unfortunately, my store only have the cpu in stock, mobo is either out of stock or didnt come in. At the time I reserved there were 14 2500k left. Now (an hour later), all the 2500k are gone. So I think when I show up tomorrow, they should have mine ready, or else im burning down their store :p

Just ordered a 2600k and P8P67 PRO for in-store pickup (Fairfax, VA). :D

The motherboard was the same price as Newegg - $189.99. Trading shipping for tax- still saved $34.37 over Newegg.

When I select the bundle and add both to cart only the cpu actually shows up in the cart?
I can manually add the mb, but then it doesn't show the bundle price.

How does the MC Web site usually work guys? I live in NC and it's letting me add the 2600K to my cart at the sale price and check out. I'm scared to enter my CC and submit the order because it seems screwy based on what's been posted in this thread (local pickup only).

EDIT: nm. I gave it a shot. WTH right? Might go through.

Just ordered a 2500K, Tax was close to $20 given that Cook county has the highest sales tax in the country, but it will hopefully be worth it.

My only worry is that these in-store purchases aren't really purchases but "reservations" and the website doesn't seem to update inventory based on them.

The website seems to be tracking inventory, for instance there were 12 2600K's when I ordered, now there are only 9 (Though still over 20 2500K's).

The website seemed to show a change after I reserved a 2600k at my local Microcenter. There were 15 in stock and immediately after placing my order it updated to 14 in stock.

From the website:

Store Inventory

The inventory shown is specific to the store you've chosen, but does not include items in the purchase process. Although you may be able to place an item in your shopping cart, it may not be available when your reservation is processed at the store. Please wait for your Reservation Ready email to ensure that your item(s) are available and/or ready for in-store pickup.

I guess we'll see. It's kind of dumb that you don't get an email when you submit the reservation- only when they fill it. I have no tangible proof that I submitted my order...

I think I might be in for a 2400 next month if the Q boards with vt-d come out. Otherwise I'll wait.

Why the particular interest in Q boards for a non-k? Wouldn't BOXDH67BL and similar have vt-d?

Its going to be a pretty brutal day, you give them your CC and a promise to pay, and they can kinda just shrug you off whenever they want.

Reserved a 2600k at my store, said there were two left in stock, now only one. Hope everything works out and I can get my hands on one.

The Core i5 2600k bundled with the ASUS P8P67Pro from Microcenter is for $339.98 and from Newegg its coming out to be $414.98

Which one is a better deal?

:D
