Ikea desk gallery

Thanks again CaliGirl! I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

One more question:
How long have you had your Galant desk?

No problem at all. I've had it since July-bought it second hand. See this post for a few photos of my progression and what it looked like when I first got it [uncluttered!]...

To Galant Corner Desk owners willing help.

I'm pretty much set on purchasing two (2) Galant corner desks (a corner desk-right & a corner desk-left) in Black-Brown.

But...I need to know (and see pics of underside, if possible) if the frame on the underside of the desk reaches all of the way to the edge of the desk?

The space where I plan on setting up these two desks is about 6" too short. Therefore I need to know if I could cut 3" - 3.5" from the desktop? I haven't been able to find an image of the underside that will show if the frame reaches all the way to edge or not.

In the case of the corner desk-left, I will be cutting the 3" - 3.5" from the RIGHT side of the seating position.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, the metal frame is not adjustable on the corner desktop. I just wanted to confirm this for you. I considered a similar setup with the left and right corner desks, but I ended up going with a left-corner with 2 extensions and a half-round section in black-brown. It's a wonderful setup! I highly recommend it.

I'm set on this shape for the setup I need, but the size of two Galant's isn't going to fit in my office with my preferred configuration. I've decided to build my own desk, using MDF, an adhesive finish from http://idsfinishes.com/, and I'm considering using the T-legs from IKEA, as yhey're readily available on eBay for a good price.

What I need to know now is, how do the T-legs attach to the frame of the Galant desktop? Is it a single bolt connecting it to the frame or something more than that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Once the frame is built, but before the desktop is attached to the frame, the legs are attached from the top of the frame screwed into the leg. The bolt is included with the purchase of the legs.

Edit: The above posted diagram shows it exactly.

here's the underside from a wider view. Hope it helps.

CaliGirl- (or anyone willing to help)

Would you mind measuring the depth of the frame in these two images?
I'm really bad at asking for measurements. So, to clarify...I'm referring to the outer distance of the frame from the wall-side to the seating position-side.

I have my measurements for making my desktop and I found part numbers for just the underside frame of varying Galant desks. All I need to know are the measurements to determine if the frame will support my desk appropriately.

Thanks in advance.

Distance from the outer side of each side of the frame is 15 1/2 inches.

Hey guys, I was considering getting a black/brown Galant and I had a couple of questions for current Galant owners.

1. Is the desk closer to black or brown? Some pictures I have seen show the desk as being almost totally black like the one above, but in some pictures the desk looks dark brown.

2. Is there enough clearance in the corner (where you sit) frame to install an articulating keyboard tray?

Thanks!

Hey, does anyone else have the LACK shelves from IKEA? I just tried installing two of them to use with my Galant, and they're garbage.

Shaky, lean forward, and I do not trust them one bit right now. I'm thinking about picking up some washers tonight, but I'm not sure if that will fix the issue.

How are you trying to use these with your Galant? With legs or attached someway to the desk itself?

It's closer to black than brown. It's very dark.

Yeah there is enough room if the base for the keyboard tray is small. See the photo for reference:

I somehow missed this question...sorry. My desk is 63in from the left side to the wall and then from the corner to the end of the right side it is about 111 in. I have two extensions attached longways to the right handed curve side.

wrong forum for this my friend, FS/FT is where you want to be for this.

Thanks for the response, CaliGirl. I'm assuming you have to drill holes to mount the legs?

I did drill just to have starting points, but many others have just screwed the legs into it without drilling.

Thats not a background, thats the load screen for Socom: Confrontation

I dont remember that from my socom, but probably cus I havent played it for a while. :( Thanks bro.

I had an idea for a cheap L-shape desk.

I am wondering if it is possible to attach an Expedit desk (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20116071) to a Mikael desk (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40079218). Anyone else tried something like this?

Before I drive the 30 miles through Atlanta traffic I wanted to see if this is possible.

Example:

I believe the thickness of each tabletop do not match, but if they do, all you'd need is a flat Simpson bracket from the hardware store and some screws -- should be under $10. Its what I used for my old desk setup (L-shaped desk on the cheap, $90):

Ran down to Ikea today.

Mikaels were on sale for $30/each! I picked up two of them.

I also bought two Signums. Has anyone had any experiences mounting anything under a Mikael?

Lack Shelves (Black-Brown) seem to not exist anywhere, I was upset.

When I do get my Lack Shelves, how are people running the Dioder cables through the shelf?
